Should I Pay Ransom to Stop Video of me Masturbating from Being Released?

Recommended Posts

I was out to dinner with a some friends last night and one of the women described how she was victimized in an online scam.  She was also trolled with an email similar to the ones I receive all the time.

When an entity hacks into say Target's servers and steals passwords this is a VERY big deal.  Many of us use the same passwords on multiple systems.  So if your password is stolen from Target they may now also have your bank account's password.

This data is freely available to the dark web and sophisticated scammers know how to exploit people beyond simple identity thief.

I've included an example of a scam email below.  Now I would NEVER pay someone under these conditions so this scam can not work on me.  Besides I don't have three grand laying around.  Still I could see where someone would be quite concerned about seeing an email of this, because my actual password (long since changed) is included and the nature of the treat.

Like the "NIgerian prince" scam. If one sends enough of these messages out you'll snag a few live ones. Plus the email sounds plausible; It is of course possible to hack into a computer and take over the camera, and people do and visit porn sites and jack off to them 😲.  Before the advent of social media porn was the largest form of traffic on the internet. Here is the email:

“I will cut to the chase. I do know johnsonpcc1 is your password. Moreover, I know your secret and I've evidence of it. You do not know me personally and nobody hired me to look into you.

It's just your misfortune that I found your misadventures. Well, I setup a malware on the adult video clips (sex sites) and you visited this site to have fun (you know what I mean). When you were busy watching videos, your web browser started working as a Rdp (Remote control desktop) that has a keylogger which provided me access to your display and also web camera. Immediately after that, my software collected all of your contacts from messenger, facebook, and mailbox.

I then gave in more time than I probably should've into your life and generated a double-screen video. First part shows the video you had been watching and 2nd part displays the view of your web camera (its you doing inappropriate things).

Honestly, I'm ready to forget about you and let you get on with your life. And my goal is to provide you two options that can accomplish this. The two choices with the idea to ignore this letter, or just pay me $ 3200. Let’s understand those 2 options in details.

Option 1 is to ignore this mail. You should know what is going to happen if you take this path. I will definitely send your video recording to all of your contacts including close relatives, co-workers, and so on. It does not help you avoid the humiliation your household will feel when friends uncover your sordid videos from me.

Other Option is to pay me $ 3200. We’ll call it my “privacy tip”. Now let me tell you what happens if you choose this path. Your secret remains your secret. I will destroy the recording immediately. You move on with your routine life like none of this ever happened.

Now you must be thinking, “I should go to the cops”. Without a doubt, I have taken steps to ensure this message cannot be tracked returning to me and yes it will not steer clear of the evidence from destroying your life. I am not planning to dig a hole in your pocket. I just want to be paid for time I place into investigating you. Let's assume you decide to generate all this vanish entirely and pay me the confidentiality fee. You will make the payment through Bitcoin (if you don't know this, search "how to buy bitcoins" in google search)

Amount to be sent: $ 3200
Receiving Bitcoin Address: 1AeMyWdsjHk4rAexuAz46R6yjPjvHTLyB9
(It's cASe sensitive, so copy and paste it carefully)

Tell nobody what you would be sending the Bitcoins for or they possibly will not sell it to you. The process to acquire bitcoin usually takes a short time so do not delay.
I've a specific pixel within this email message, and now I know that you have read this mail. You have 24 hours to make the payment. If I don't receive the BitCoins, I will definately send your video recording to all of your contacts including friends and family, coworkers, and many others. You better come up with an excuse for friends and family before they find out. Nevertheless, if I receive the payment, I will destroy the video immediately. It's a non negotiable one time offer, thus don't ruin my personal time and yours. Your time has started.”

The web is still like the wild wild west.  I don’t like to play with hackers because they could easily destroy my site before breakfast — and there would be nothing I could do about it — no place to go for justice… not even street justice.

Given the nature of the corporate dominated web today, a video of me pleasuring myself would help raise the profile of the website tremendously.  As “45” proves, time and time again, there is no such thing as bad publicity.

That last line is great!  And the fact that porn sites are really the most visited - I'd have to say this is truth!   -

I'm so sick of these hackers ...  the great part about sending money to that bitcoin address is it's public.  Even if dud/ette  used several addresses blockchain is public ledger ...

Well first of all, I never did understand why some people needed magazines and porn videos to masturbate too....lol.
I have a vivid imagination.
Even as a teenager if I was alone that night and needed to "beat that meat" all I had to do was close my eyes and Thelma Evans (among others) would pop up grinning at me.
But..............

To be honest, if I really thought they had the goods on me AND I thought paying them off would protect me.....I wouldn't have a problem paying them.
But again, those two criteria must be met.
It's not enough for them to prove they have the goods on me, they must also demostrate that me paying them will get them off my back.

It also depends on how much harm their information would cause.
I don't jack off to porn, but if they just had a picture of me nude or having sex....I ain't paying them $50, lol.

I mean, really my friends and family KNOW I have a diick and they KNOW I need to get "treated" from time to time, either by my woman or by myself...lol.

It's nature, so what....am I supposed to be "embarassed" by this or something?????

@Mel Hopkins, Hackers are the ban of the internet.  It is another reason we have fewer indie websites.  It you don't stay on top of your website it will be brought down.  Mis a couple of WordPress Updates and you are toast.

Well @Pioneer1 this is why this particular scam should not work.  If they had the goods on you they would simply send them.  Besides assuming they actually had the goods what is to stop them from asking for more money even after you paid them.

But again try this millions of times and you will fool someone.

I guess the hackers did not want to make you feel inadequate. They don't call me "johnson" for nothing 😉

Today someone texted me saying that my Facebook account had been hacked.  This seemed unlikely (I don't even know my facebook password -- it was auto generated and I let my computer remember it), but I checked it out anyway.  Here was the post my friend thought was posted by a hacker:

After I told my friend, a woman, that I was the one who posted the message she was very surprised at me -- almost incredulous.  I told her that from time to time I deliberately make salacious posts to see if they would draw more traffic that my regular posts.

She saw the post because she went to my wall.  This post did not appear in her newsfeed, or anyone else's that I can tell. After 27 hours only 10 people from Facebook have viewed the post  (12% of the total views of the post) and only one person actually engaged with it on Facebook.

Bottom line, Facebook's algorithm does not share plain text posts with external links, even if the content is somewhat scandalous.   Now I'm sure if I posted the actual email on Facebook I would have gotten more engagement.  But I don't post content on Facebook because I'm interested in people visiting AALBC not reading my stuff on Facebook

Does anyone else think that I hurt my reputation on Facebook by making this post?  Does anyone thing I crossed a line in terms of decency?

I considered removing the post given my friend's reaction, but then I'm not concerned about Facebook... and I can't be fired from anywhere because of what I post.  I do however care what my people think.  So let me know what you think.

Upon reading the post, for one of the few time in my life i was left speechless, and kinda revolted. But - after the sleazy picture i posted of myself a few weeks ago, who am i to judge?

The FaceBook meme below, in addition to cracking me up, had me musing over how circulating this picture around for millions to see is worth more than a $3200 ransom payoff.  😂

LOL where did you find this photo @Cynique

Actually this brings to mind another problem.  It would be very easy for a hackers to create a fake video of me jacking off.  Again, I would not pay a ransom to prevent for that from being distributed, but one could very easily be created.

I've previous shared a couple of memes trolls created to make fun of me (after a quick search I can't find them now).  I thought they were funny and, truth be told, being a target does reflects a degree of success.

You make a good point I forgot to include which is....you KNOW they aren't gonna get rid of those pictures no matter how much you pay them simply for the reason you gave.
They can always use it to milk you for more money.

Probably the best thing to do is sit down and figure out to track down the source, and see what LEGAL actions....if any....can be taken.

I sincerely believe there is atleast one solution to EVERY problem.
You may not live long enough to find out that solution, but it does exist.

They don't call me "johnson" for nothing

I've been meaning to ask you for a minute, I know Johnson is a common last name but are you related in any way to THEE famous "Johnson" who used to run Harlem back in the 30s, 40s, and 50s....lol.

Book Review: Harlem Godfather: The Rap On My Husband, Ellsworth “Bumpy” Johnson Click for a larger image of Harlem Godfather: The Rap On My Husband, Ellsworth “Bumpy” Johnson by Mayme Johnson and Karen E. Quinones Miller@Delano Shoot it would be great for traffic to the site too!

I posted an answer to your question @Pioneer1 but I don't see it now....  usually posts you start are saved in the editor... maybe I was dreaming anywho...

Nah man I'm not related to any Johnson in NYC (thought relatives in NYC keep popping up in Ancestry-- another story).

I did meet Mayme Johnson (Bumpy Johnson's wife).  I shot video of her 10 years ago when she was 93.  A friend of mine wrote a book about Bumpy's life.

You can read a Book Review: Harlem Godfather: The Rap On My Husband, Ellsworth “Bumpy” Johnson and watch a video I shot of her here.

Lol, what's up with that singer "Billy Holiday Jr"??
We got women calling themselves junior now a days?

I'm not sure what to think of characters like Bumpy.

On one hand I have respect for him as a man being able to come up from down South with nothing but his ambition and build a mega empire in the underground world.
On the other hand, I have to wonder about all of the people....mostly Black...that he poisioned, killed, and otherwise damaged and destroyed.

Perhaps if he came up in a better system his brains, ambition, and talent would have taken him just as high on the positive end of the spectrum.

Perhaps he could have build a casino empire or a hotel resort making even MORE money without the bloodshed and trauma.

What is there to think about @Pioneer1 Bumpy was a gangster?  But he, under the right conditions could been anything he wanted to be.  He is a product of a white racist environment. Fortunately the condition that created him have been greatly reduced.

I have to wonder.....

In some ways, altough the conditions that Bumpy's generation had to grow up in and endure were much harsher....it seems to have produced stronger men who were more independent and even more productive.

When Black men HAD to rely on themselves, the streets, and their own wits to get them by and get the finer things in life....it forced them to be more creative and developed that hustler spirit.

Now those who aren't smart enough to advanced through and already set template called the educational.......because of the pretty much non-existent street life that so many Black men thrived off of....are offered no other alternatives or opportunities except for jail or death.

Absolutely!  Most men today are like boys.

I watched Cadillac Records for the 2nd time last night.  The character Howling Wolf is a prime example of manhood.
