I'm really not judging them but I can see how it looks that way.🤣 I remember the elders telling me these were "the last & evil days"....that was several decades ago.🤣 So far, my lifetime has never been filled with doom & gloom. Well it probably, at least partially, true but again it is a leap to ascribe "fear" and "desire," human emotions, as part of the motivation. Indeed we can say with certainty how emotions emerge in us. Avoidance of destruction does not have be motivated by an emotion. it could be another goal. The choice between destruction and avoiding destruction could be made just as easily one way of the other by an AI. Again, assuming an AI is afraid, it the wrong way to look at it. Some human will be copulating with it -- someone is probably doing that right now somewhere...

My idea of collapse is the USA no longer being the most powerful nation on the planet. As a Super-Power, I do not foresee the USA sliding into 2nd or 3rd place within our lifetime.😎

OK so who determines what is the "best" content? Who anoints them? Are they volunteers? Volunteerism does not scale and if they are paid the money must come from somewhere, then we are back to the same problem we are in now... At some point somebody whom I had been discussing AI with....I want to say frankster but I'm not 100% sure because I don't have the quote....said that AI not only possesses self awareness but also has a survival instinct in which some systems avoid being destroyed and self-destruction. If this is true.....IF it's true...the most likely explanation is that somebody programed this security feature into some AI systems. On the other hand, for those who believe AI possesses consciousness.....if this survival instinct or avoidance of destruction arises out of the "consciousness" of the AI entity itself, then there would have to be a MOTIVATOR behind it and that motivator would most likely be an emotion. Like fear or desire. Fear.....of death or non-existence Desire.....to stay alive

I do not think emotions are a prerequisite for consciousness. Nor do I think that emotions are a prerequisite for consciousness. When it comes to the AI systems, we like to shoehorn our sensibilities and anthropomorphizing them in the same way we think beings from another planet will think that say way we do. Shoot there are humans on THIS planet whose motivation escape my comprehension. That said I have not heard any stories of AI presenting with emotions, nor do I expect them to. Emotions are a human construct and you can be conscious without them. What is the motivation for your question @Pioneer1 ?

@ProfD I concur some/many are thriving or surviving but are they fiscal capitalist or simply nepo babies? Are they merely people who are inheriting a position of wealth. Many government officials are related to former government officials. many athletes are related to former athletes. the trillion dollar question. The one thing is certain is the usa military is the primary engine of this system, not fiscal capitalist or financial marketeers or government guidance or laws. and the usa military has a dual problem, it doesnt have the legal right to manipulate the government but clearly its role is the key to the usa's fianncial condition. to be blunt, the usa military can protect the usa while all the business [whole industries or individual firms] that the government bailed out in the last thirty years were allowed to go bankrupt and all their assets put up for auction. But as long as the military of the usa protects it but doesn't demand better fiscal capitalism or better government, the private sector + goveernment sector will continue their failing and bailing ways. And the usa military is looking more and more impotent in protecting international places. if the usa can't use its force to manipulate the world's governments they will force an action against the usa ... We will see:)

I'm not giving value to economists. Merely pointed out that they keep the financial system that is a house of cards propped up. Somewhere between the Federal Reserve playing with interest rates & the stock market turning folks into millionaires & billionaires, seems like some fiscal capitalists are allowed to thrive & survive. The US government backed by its military may be running a monarchic system. The question is who or what is going to bring that house of cards to collapse.😎

@ProfD but this is my point, the economist dont, the fiscal capitalist have failed. Your suggesting the economist have value but I don't see any evidence of that. the macroeconomic proteciton that the government provides through the power of the military is the only potent part. For me, the military and the government are the real system. And if anything the government and military have the power to and need to demand a change that the fiscal capitalist clearly are unable to do on their own. the people you call economist are to me the true welfare mothers whites falsely claimed black women were. We both see how the usa is operates but you give value to the economist while I view the economist as a dysfunctional aspect that the government + military will have to eventually get rid of or change in potent ways.
