I'm learning more and more that the average White man's idea of success and what brings him happiness and satisfaction isn't necessarily the same as yours, mine and other men of color and especially Black men. My idea of success includes happiness, good health, peaceful environment, ect..... Not recklessly oppressing people. I haven't met one Black man with an inborn desire to rule and dominate other races to the point that he'd sacrifice his own life and that of his family just to see that accomplished. But many White men have that desire. Which is why so many of them voted for Trump in THIS election and it's also why so many voted for Reagan in previous elections even after he cut off the economic life line for millions of them when he gutted the cities and the industrial sector. They don't mind taking the economic and social "hits" that a very traditionalist right-wing government will bring as long as it means that Blacks and Browns remain on the bottom. Instead of voting for a politician who would provide decent paying jobs and healthcare so that EVERYBODY has the opportunity to live a good life........ They'd rather live in a trailer park in dire poverty eating mayonaise sandwiches while trying to support a family on $300 a month as long as they know most Blacks and Hispanics are doing much worse. Most of the people who voted for Trump could care less about jobs, healthcare, and civil liberties....even their own. All they want is to "take their country back" by pushing that "nigga" out of the Whitehouse along with the liberal "nigga lovers" who helped put him in. If THAT is accomplished, then as far as they're concerned there ARE NO PROBLEMS.

Pioneer your opening salvo sounds very racist. But I definitely hear where you are coming from and completely understand the sentiment When Africans came to the Americas they did not take ownership of land and resources, rape women, or enslave people. They came, they exchanged knowledge, and left. When Europeans went anywhere, they were so hell bent on domination that they weren't even above exterminating native people. Tanzania is a relatively recent example. When Europeans came to Africa and North America they were welcomed with open arms and they took savage advantage of the hospitality. Their hostility, of course, has not been limited to Black and Brown people. During WW II they managed to murder 3% of humanity in just a few years. Many if not most of these people were other white people. This is not to say there are not righteous white people--there are a great many of them. Today the Belgians, Italians, British and Germans are not nearly the same murderous lot they once were. And of course there are murderous Black people. But if you looks at the most violent Black people they were placed into conditions created by racist white people. Whether it was Black folks crowded in urban ghettos or setup in puppet regimes in some country white folks created. The entire conflict in the Middle East is really a European/American creation. Outside of white influence, there is no evidence to suggest that Black people behave ever behaved in the same manner that the most evil white people have. I know that might sound racist as well, but I'd be happy to defend the position. I believe, as any reasonable person should, that there are a great number of decent white folks who are interested in sharing and who despise the "enrich-yourself-at-the-expense-of-others" mentality. Sometimes I have to ask myself, "where the hell are they now?" I think people are just worried about their own survival. Working to improve the conditions of anyone outside your immediate family takes resources most of us don't have or don't want to expend. Besides that mentality is not really part of the American or western culture. Working to improve the group is part of African culture, at least before the arrival of the European. It is the part of our culture that was lost when we were enslaved here. I think many of us carry it in our DNA, we just can't express it here in America and it is probably why many of us need mental help today. Someone pass the Xanax please.

@Pioneer1 LOL is right. When I said I was "done" with this country, I meant I had lost what little faith I had left in it. I don't plan to pull up stakes and leave. The only place I'm retreating to is the environment of my woman cave where I will go into semi-hibernation like I usually do this time of year. America is on track to regress to its past and I think all of those who wanted this should be careful what they wish for because they are about to get it at the hands of Alpha white males who will do what they do when in charge. This country deserves what it gets because over 40 percent of its citizens didn't even bother to vote while millions who did cast their ballot had it nullified by the electoral college. But the pendulum swings back and forth and things go in cycles. Maybe the progressive community will get a second chance and not blow it. As for Hillary Clinton, It just wasn't meant to be. Or, as Del might, observe; it was not in the stars. And it was her own race who failed her. Poetic justice? Maybe.

Trump is helping people who've helped and supported him. Maybe Democrats and Liberals should take a page from his play book. Trump's cronyism and nepotism is nothing new, wealthy White males at all levels of the government as well as business sector have been engaging in this type of behavior since their establishment of this nation. Trump has just become more open and bold with what was already happening. Cynique, I don't know where you're gonna go. Like War said....."The World Is A Ghetto".....lol.

I say Hillary would be better for Blacks and Progressives because she is a Democrat who would've nominated candidates for Supreme Court vacancies that would've given Liberals a majority. Now, all of the rulings favoring women, gays, blacks, health care and gun control, voting rights, etc., are in danger of being reversed by a conservative dominated court that will undo all these advancements, sending America back to the oppressive times when it was supposedly "great". Donald Trump doesn't know whether he's coming or going and I don't think he's a genuine conservative. It's the people who will surround him that are the true threat. Vice president Pence, if he wields any power, is an Evangelical who will have no qualms about trying to turn this country into a theocracy. Oh me.

Hillary did not make herself human until her concession speech, where you could see the genuine hurt and disappointment she obviously felt. Pioneer, Blacks did come out to Hillary she got 88% of the Black vote. I have not seen the figures on how many people that represents. If you have them please post a link; it would be interesting to see those figures. Democrats have had the Black vote on lock for years, why promise us anything? Obama never did and he is Black. Cynique, I'm not sure the 3rd party votes did Hillary in. It is not clear how many of those voters would have voted for Clinton without the 3rd party option. Besides in places like OH and NC, even if Hillary got all of the 3rd party votes, it would not have made a difference in the results. But as you suggest it was not just one thing that hurt Hillary. I voted for her, but she did not need my vote, she won NY by 1.5 million votes. I almost not did bother to vote for that reason, but changed my mind at the last minute, and am glad I did because I contributed to the popular vote giving Hillary that "win," which at least shows what the majority of people wanted, for what it is worth... We will never know who would have been better for Black people. I never had that much faith in Hillary, and I don't believe it is possible for Trump to do as much damage as many Black people believe he will do. Time will tell.

@Pioneer1Well, just what was it that Hillary was saying in all of her speeches and appearances during the final weeks of her campaign that was apathetic toward black folks? Have you checked out the platform she ran on? If raising the minimum wage and advocating early learning programs for children and affordable health care wouldn't help black folks, I don't know what would. If promising to repeal harsh laws for minor offenses and presenting her plan to create jobs by repairing America's deteriorating infra structure, wouldn't help blacks I don't know what would. If her call for an end to racism and xenophobia didn't include black folks, I don't know what would. She did, after all, incorporate a lot of Bernie's progressive agenda into her platform and she was very visible at black venues. And just because the black turn out wasn't quite as high as it was for Obama doesn't mean that millions didn't come out in droves to vote for her. @CDBurns I agree that Hillary was so eager to prove that she was as tough as a man that she came across as heartless. But she was damned if she appeared soft and damned if she didn't. BTW, the white pants suits she frequently wore were a tribute to The Sufragettes who always wore that color when marching to win the vote. IMO, the reason she lost was because she was so busy trying to appease minorities, that those red neck and rural yahoos got insulted, along with the cop-loving middle class bigots who felt slighted and, of course, the tight-assed Bernie supporters and clueless Millennials who wasted their votes on the Green and Libertarian candidates also helped to do her in. Finally, a lot of men didn't vote for her simply because she was a woman. Hillary Clinton lost because she had too many hurdles to clear, some of which were put in her path by her husband's philandering and by people who wanted to spite President Obama and blemish his legacy. She fought the good fight but her gut instincts failed her, and she relied too much on the polls. Still, why put all the blame on her? She did win the popular vote. And had she won she would've still been better for blacks, than Trump.
