  1. Is your point that polygamy is better for men than women. The reason some choose polygamy is so that they have a choice. Instead of creating a relationship where there is deception, polygamy acknowledges a truth. Some people need more than one (sexual) partner. An open relationship works better if the partners love each other, don't care and or aren't jealous or possessive. If you would have asked 14 years ago if I could handle polygamy. I would have said yes. If we both could have secondary partners. Honesty and truth is more important. I also would make a difference between sexual and emotional pairings. I could accept a partner cheating on me easier than not listening to me. I reckon this is where we diverge. Which is why you see polygamy as diminishing. It can be but need not be. The end of the book 1984 really defines betrayal.
  2. You can reject my statement but you are wrong on addition to being ignorant. You admit not watching it so you have no first hand knowledge of what he said. That's is the definition of ignorance @Troy. Look up the history of the Steady State Scientist and how the Big Bang Theory got its name. @zaji I will read this later. People assume that scientist stop having beliefs and opinions when practising science. Michelle Simmons emigrated to Australian because she felt the scientific community was more open than the United States or England.
  3. It was a great movie. I don't think it will get best picture though. Set or costume design may get an award. He covered some big issues by having each character struggle with them: Charity Opression Responsibility Loyalty Allegiance Vengeance Identity Family. It joins a handful of my favorite movies that work on more than one level. I would put it slightly above Star Wars because of the acting. What's with all the binary thinking. I can explain and I am not the spokesperson for anyone. In addition to being a thinker it should be obvious that I have no interest in any active leadership. The only correct statement is your last sentence. However the dead end is your unwillingness to contemplate another point of view.
  4. Cynique you are projecting. And asking me to say what works for other people. If you reread what I have written you may find this to be the case, if not then quote my statement and let's discuss it.
  5. Perhaps Pioneer can explain I can't explain why you would want to do it. However other people see the issue differently. You may be confusing a harem with polygamy polyandry or polyamory. or maybe I am
  6. I have not actively read about about social sexual mores . Even though I have read erotica from different perspectives and cultural sexual techniques plus sex magic . Both Thor and the Black Panther cut a lesbian love scene.
  7. Perhaps societies that at more open, fair or equitable or about sexual relationships, would also be more progressive in the main . Perhaps some women prefer neither marriage nor monogamy . Your response seems more limiting. Your statement or rather your response takes an open statement ,," it could be many men ." Into a binary western Judeo-Christian perspective .
  8. It would appear that Pioneer read both ways. Kudos.
  9. However in practice the reverse of these two statements is more likely to be the case.
  10. I post definitions to clarify my position. You are free to use whatever denotation or connotation that you like.
  11. @Troy you are arguing from ignorance, by your own admission. @Cynique ok your opinion is correct.
  12. The were Christian in Origin. The religion not the principal. Religion (belief )has been linked to Science. Rupert Sheldrake has made the case that Science acts more like religion. Hence censorship not debate. They feel debate is below their lofty ideals. I say that is the approach of the he arrogant elite.
  13. enlightenment NOUN 1mass noun The action of enlightening or the state of being enlightened. ‘Robbie looked to me for enlightenment’ More example sentences Synonyms 1.1 The action or state of attaining or having attained spiritual knowledge or insight, in particular (in Buddhism) that awareness which frees a person from the cycle of rebirth.
  14. Thanks quote and link are from Scientific American.
  15. Most of the colleges in the United States that started over 300 years ago were Bible-proclaiming schools originally. Harvard and Yale (originally Puritan) and Princeton (originally Presbyterian) once had rich Christian histories. Harvard was named after a Christian minister. Yale was started by clergymen, and Princeton’s first year of class was taught by Reverend Jonathan Dickinson. Princeton’s crest still says “Dei sub numine viget,” which is Latin for “Under God she flourishes.”
  16. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/scientists-find-melting-of-antarctic-ice-sheet-accelerating/ Many in the scientific community, myself included, have found fault with the media’s coverage of climate change because of their penchant for presenting the climate deniers’ view on an issue related to climate change, giving the impression that a vigorous debate remains on climate change when in truth there is not.John Oliver’s humorous but spot-on critique of this very same issue went viral this week.

  18. My comment was on response to the above statement. How does their sexual preference have any impact on my statement?
  19. are numbers discovered or created? No one will get this one right. @Troy you may want to read the first sentence. Or you could look it up. Christian roots and principles are not synonymous.
  20. Princeton’s crest still says “Dei sub numine viget,” which is Latin for “Under God she flourishes.” In the United Kingdom, the earliest university-type establishment was probably the College, established by the Celtic preacher St. Illtyd in about AD 500. Oxford University was established by various religious orders. Likewise, Cambridge University was established in 1209 by Christian leaders. Saint Andrews, Scotland’s oldest university, was founded principally for the teaching and study of theology. The commitment of these religious founders might be suspect, but many of the later colleges were founded by Bible-believing Christians. The University of Edinburgh had a thoroughly evangelical beginning, being founded under Presbyterian auspices. Even my alma mater, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (SIUC), had Christian roots when it was founded in 1869. Our school motto was Deo Volente, which is Latin for “God willing.” By the time I attended SIUC in the 1990s, there was almost no vestige of that Christian heritage left. In fact, the university emphatically teaches evolution over millions of years and blatantly rejects the possibility of biblical authority (that the Bible is true—authoritative—and that we need to adjust our beliefs and actions to its teaching). So what happened to cause so many schools to abandon their Christian roots?
  21. Unlike yourself I have no idea what polygamous women would choose.
  22. Who says it has to be many women it could be many men.
  23. However the terms BC BCE are used by everyone and are of a religious origin
