Researchers: Many Bitcoin fans are psychopaths and narcissists
So why bother raising as an issue? I can do a lot of things, why introduce something that is so highlight ly unlikely to support your point? Why capitalize the word “has?” Is that to emphasize it as a statement of fact? It is disingenuous to then follow that statement up with “that is my opinion.” Of course it is your opinion, and I’m glad you shared it.

Crypto-Currency Mining - Digging Your Own Crypt?
At some point we will have to solve our energy problems, and i don’t mean for crypto’s sake… I doubt people are using crypto for mundane things like buying coffee. It seems like everyone is buying crypto as an appreciating asset, which is how most people made their money. As far as NFT’s, despite the well known multi-million dollar sales the average person will make more money “buying on the dip” and selling on the rise. Stocks seem like an easier way to do this, but others know more i do. I purchased about $500! In Bitcoin and $500 in etherium about a year ago (a lot for me) and i doubt I’ve made a penny — i brought way too late. I’m pretty sure the spectacular gains we’ve seen in the past are over. Indeed i believe a big drop in the value of Crypto is more likely… especially if real utility for the average person is not introduced.

Researchers: Many Bitcoin fans are psychopaths and narcissists
@Stefan, regarding censorship, I’ll simply let my record dial for it self. Despite your comment, have i ever censored anything you’ve posted? Are you aware of me censoring anyone else? How can the forum be an echo chamber chamber where the Trump supporters, whose opinions i welcome, are continually challenged and even ridiculed by others? Technically this is my website as i pay the bills and maintain the site. But this is indeed “yours ” in the way that it matters most; your posts make it yours. The decisions people make in what, or what not, to post make the site what it is. This forum has changed many times over the 25 years it has been on line. I do not control that we do that collectively. the forum belongs to all of us. i can’t have a discussion forum by myself. Sadly we take more “ownership” of social media groups when ownership is actually far from possible. — the moderators don’t make the rules and have no control over who is booted—including themselves.

Evidence of Humans Existing Millions of Years Ago
This talk reminded me of @Pioneer1, as he used to always talk about modern humans exiting millions of years ago. I guess this is where he got the information. Of course, this flies in the face of the current theory of evolution. Apparently there are religious text "Vedic" that speaks to modern humans running around millions of years ago. Who can really know...

Anti Lynching Bill
Of course Emmitt Till was "lynched." @Stefan just an FYI. Ginzburg's book is available on AALBC. I can tell you grabbed the photo from Amazon, or a site that copied it from Amazon (because Amazon puts the "copyrighted material" on most of the book covers on it site). I like to think of AALBC as a resource for books important to the Black community whether they are in print of not. Black Classic Press has chosen to keep this title in print. So please use the site as a reference and if an important book is not here please share it with us here and I'll more sure the book is in our database. Also if you but the book from an AALBC, everyone involved with the production of the book makes more money than if the book is sold on Amazon. 100 Years of Lynchings by Ralph Ginzburg ADD TO CART Publication Date: Nov 22, 1996 List Price: $14.95 Format: Paperback, 270 pages Classification: Nonfiction ISBN13: 9780933121188 Imprint: Black Classic Press Borrow from Library Paperback Description: Ginzburg compiles vivid newspaper accounts from 1886 to 1960 to provide insight and understanding of the history of racial violence.

Researchers: Many Bitcoin fans are psychopaths and narcissists
Under normal circumstances I would have ignored this article as the title is the very definition of click bait. One as to ask what is the purpose of the article? Your replace the words "Bitcoin Fans" with any group of people and it would still be an arguably true statement -- even with out data, as we already know "many" people in the population as a whole are 'psychopaths and narcissists." Again what is the point of the article? Do we know any more now that we did before reading it? I mean there were no percentages or comparison to the norm. As far as I can tell the article was created purely to drive traffic to the site to server ads and collect more of our data. The Financial Times, who owns the website is generally considered to be a reputable source, but their website give me cause for concern about the state of journalism on a global level.

Frank James
I did not know the shooter was Black until just now. I'm in South Africa right now and someone from the states informed me of the situation and the was a brief segment about it on the BBC news, but that was in the immediate aftermath and before they announced a suspect. I have not sought out additional details. Were the victims all white? Is this being looked at as a "hate" crime? Given the proliferation of, and easy access to, guns in the US and the centuries of brutal racism heaped on Black folks, I'm actually surprised Black people don't go postal more often. I guess drugs, alcohol, sex, and social media can only do so much to placate angry negroes before they snap. 🤨

Lipstick Alley One of the Best Black Discussion Forums on the Web!
Guest, truth be told I only use and participate in "Book Alley." which on all accounts is superior to this site's Book Literature forum or any other Black book discussion forum that I have visited. Or at least it was, as I have not posted there in about a years or so. I'm basing my claim on the number posts posts and post engagement. I've posted several thing both here and on Lip Stick Alley's book forum and I always get more engagement there. As far as the other forums dealing with the celebrity stuff I don't care about that kind of content so I've never bothered to look into it. I can imagine however that, the celerity controversy draws people to the site which, in turn, can bring people to Book Alley. Celebrity disfunction drives traffic to many of the top Black websites. "The Slap" was a prime example of this in action. I know I could drive more traffic to the site by focusing more on that type of content, but my lack of interest combined with the competition in the celebrity dysfunction space makes that unappealing to me. Lip stick Alleys can own that space.

More Blacks are Fleeing to the Metaverse. Are you developing the Skills?
the link the @Stefan’s is broken above this one should work: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnet.com/google-amp/news/the-broadband-gaps-dirty-secret-redlining-still-exists-in-digital-form/ You can not take a class on a cell phone. I’ve been teaching at the college level for the last 5 years the pandemic has been the worse two years and I’m about to give it up. i really feel for students over the past two years … zoom is certainly better than nothing, but inferior to in person instruction, in my opinion.

Utility is not subjective it serves a function, as in has a use. That said owning history is an interesting notion... High speed internet access and access to PC is not ubiquitous. I discovered this teaching during the pandemic as well. The university have out 5,000 laptop with wifi hotspots -- professors needed them too! Out side of major urban centers the challenges are greater. Much of the poverty in America is hidden, so it is easy to assume we are much better off that we truly are.

Hackers continue their Cryptocurrency heists
As they say, "no keys no cheese." I recommend that you hold you crypto in your own wallet. I use Trezor https://trezor.io/ . Many of the "hacks" were just outright scams. Like someone setting up a bogus bank then running off with the deposits. I would not buy any crypto unless it was listed here: https://coinmarketcap.com/ and even then I'd just stick with Bitcoin or Ethereum. Most seem to be using crypto as a get rich quick scheme rather than an alternative currency. As a result of this greed, people are getting played every day. Banks have already gone digital. I rarely handle currency and never go into a branch or use an ATM. The only exception is when I go to the casino to play poker. The adoption of Crypto would be a minor transition but unless regulators get on board it crypto will remain on the margins ripe for fleecing the gullible and greedy.

Will Smith smacks Chris Rock
That is painfully obvious. I hope he gets the help he needs. Money can buy a lot of things, but it clearly can't buy mental health. Chris demonstrated a composure few of us, I'm sure, could have maintained. He literally saved their lame show.

Hey @daniellegfny congrats on the sale of your NFT. But did you say that when people buy the NFT they get a copy of you book too? Also I've never actually looked at the block chain to check on proof of a transaction, so I'll just take you word for it. So how much did you make on the deal. Sales price minus transactions costs and cost to create the image? What do you envision the person who purchased the image will do with it? In other words what utility or value do you think it gives the buyer? @Stefan of course this is true, but this is always the case with new technology before it becomes ubiquitous. I clearly remember many in our community strongly resisting buying things on the web. Today, just 20 years later, many of us buy things from Amazon we don't need or can easily walk down the street to buy -- even paying Amazon an annual fee for the privilege.

Slap: state your case, no answer is wrong or right
How Chris maintained his cool in that situation is beyond me. I’m not sure I could have maintained mind — I would have been in Will’s ass. Chris is a gentleman and Will behaved like a teenage moron. They had the nerve to give him an award, he should have been arrested. …but to answer the question: I wouldn’t do anything. If it were funny I might laugh. But it depends. Will’s reaction was simply crazy. i never watch the academy awards but this assault was all over the news, so i could not avoid it. interestingly it made me a bit angry to see a black man slap another Black man in a room full of white folk. I have nothing but contempt for Will’s violent behavior.

I am not sure you appreciate just how much smarter you are than the average bear. …. Or maybe my opinion of the masses is just too low, But I don’t think so 😉 yeah i did miss understand what you meant by hanging across currencies… i raise both Utility and usability arguments. Crypto is far too lacking in both for widespread adoption right now. These are things I’m considering for the AALBC website redesign. @Delano you worked at Wang! man you must be super smart too 🙂 no wonder you and Mel are kindred spirits. I thought so and is why I disagree with the statement. Pure hedonism is selfish. well @ProfD thanks for joining us. I’m due there are others out there like you — i just gotta find them and get them here.

Stacey Abrams as United Earth President in Star Trek Discovery
I saw that. Black women doing everything in Star Trek; running star ship Enterprise, president of the Earth, general in charge protecting Earth … Cis Gender white makes are no where to be found in the new Star Trek no wonder they are so disgruntled to the point where they are storming the White House.

Neanderthal!😆 Man, there are new apartments in NYC where there isn't even a pretense of a kitchen -- people order, and eat, out so frequently -- there is no perceived need.,, Thank you! If you care to share what the appeal of this forum is for you maybe I can share it with others and get more participation.

Americans back ban on Russian oil imports, even if prices rise
Interesting conversation. Oil is generally purchased in advance, at a set price, to protect businesses from volatility in prices. The immediate change in prices seen at the pump, in airline tickets, or in your utility bill is profiteering. If the price of a barrel of gas goes up today that does not mean the price has to be immediately passed on to the consumer -- the gas has already been purchased. Again, we need to move on from fossil fuels. the idea that we would continue to use them for another hundred years knowing what we know it is doing to the planet seems insane to me. Here in Tulsa, I've experienced earthquakes and my understanding is that this is a direct result of fracking... The pandemic is largely over here in Tulsa there is little evidence outside of hospitals that we are in the midst of a "pandemic." Covid variants are seemingly part of our life now -- get used to it. Like the flu vaccine, a covid vaccine will be part of our lives, for the foreseeable future...

More Blacks are Fleeing to the Metaverse. Are you developing the Skills?
We trade across fiat currencies and financial institutions make a lot of money during this. And sure individuals can do this with Crypto, but again doing this is even more complicated for the vast majority of individuals. I guess it depends upon how you define "wasted" time. Drug addicts enjoy getting high; is that wasted time? Rapists derive pleasure from victimizing others; is their time wasted? I thing so, but my definition of wasted time apparently differs from that of your friend. Back to the Metaverse, @ProfD the pixelated people of LEGOLAND is not the metaverse. It will be a fully immersive digital environment which may ultimately be indistinguishable from the real world; more like the Star Trek holodeck. Except, lurking in the background, Zuck will be devising more diabolical ways to extract your wealth and time. Meanwhile, your ability to engage in the real world will be diminished to the point where you no longer productive or derive pleasure from life outside Zuck's Metaverse. And @daniellegfny I know you said it is not Zuck's Metaverse, but it is not Zuck;s Internet either ... or is it? Think about it.

BookTok, Anyone?
Sure, I am definitely and influencer, but not on social media -- at least not directly. The term "influencer" is not applied to indie platforms -- especially the black-owned ones. The social media algorithm simply does not favor older Black men you aren't talking about nonsense. IMHO. Can you think of a so called influencer who is a Black, cis-gender, male in my age range on TikTok, for example? Is he buck dancing (metaphorically speaking). Again I will give it a shot... Thanks for the information on Frank London Brown. His book, Trumbull Park is still in print. I just added a place holder for him on the site: https://aalbc.com/authors/author.php?author_name=Frank+London+Brown You can learn more abut Builders + Backers here: https://www.buildersandbackers.com/press-posts/tulsa-cohort-2022 it is a really helpful program.

How BookTok Changed Book of the Month’s Influencer Marketing Strategy
@Milton i don’t think anything on TikTok, or social media in general media, is “Random.” There are sophisticated algorithms wishing to determine what people see and when they see it. @Mel Hopkins why do you think you were wrong about influencers? As far as sales are concerned my small anecdotal evidence still gives me cause for skepticism. I’m in book industry and I don’t know any one who uses TikToc (including the folks here) and can tell me they have generated books sales as a direct result. I appreciate I’m on my own Black book bubble free of the influence if tic tickkng kids 😉
