Mo' Money, Mo' Money, Mo' Money
@daniellegfny you are exhibiting increasingly troll like behavior. That last comment was a doosey. @Pioneer1 given how rapidly our money leaves the Black community white businesses benefit just as much. @Gibran apologies at this point are empty. The important thing is the out come and time will only tell.

Yesterday Trump Conceded. The Day The Republic Died
From the Guardian article @Delano shared: "Donald Trump skipped the G20 summit’s “Pandemic Preparedness” event to visit one of his golf clubs on the same day that a record 195,500 new Covid-19 infections were reported in a 24-hour period in the United States, according to Johns Hopkins." @daniellegfny Trump is actually still the president. Your comment that it is "not his problem any more" is fascinating. Trump is just continuing his behavior of not taking ownership of the pandemic. Sticking his head in the sand, and blaming others, is part of the reason so many more people died needlessly in this country. Again, I don't expect you to understand that -- you are still in denial of the efficacy of mask wearing?!

BLACK. PEOPLE. WHAT. NOW ????
He is so "elated" that he was moved to tears gimme a break. I guess a woman would view Van's behavior as acceptable most men (cis hetero) probably would share the views of the men on this thread. Oh it is interesting that you'd make this distinction now, but at other times act like it does not exist. Like that film Uncle Tom you praised.https://aalbc.com/reviews/film-reviews.php?id=2248

Are Blacks Going To Have To Pay Repatriations To ADOS?
Continue to cherry pick the past and victim blame @daniellegfny if that advances your perverted world view.

Lol! @Pioneer1 you've never hesitated to ascribe racial designations to any other human. Is the person pictured Black?- The Dogon Speak on Space Travel, Technology, and the 117 Year Old Dogon
Da white man, who else? I asked one of the little listening devices I have laying around my home and that is what it said.- Who's That Lady Pt II : Bounce, Bounce, Bounce......
Pastor Paula White Cain ... never heard of her. But I don't pay attention to these charismatic ministers. You write in the last thread that T.D. Jakes schooled her. I'm not surprised. I attended a TD Jake's service in Dallas one. The "church" is an arena. Jakes appeals to people on a very emotional level. People around me were in tears -- seriously. The power he has over people is powerful. Many people need what he gives them. The appeal of Trump is no different. Both men understand human nature AND are willing to take advantage of it for monetary gain and power. Not everyone can do this -- even if they know how. It does take a skill and some measure of psychopathy to be able to exploit someone in that manner. They say pimpin' and easy; if you have a conscious it is very difficult.- WHO'S THAT LADY
I remember the first time hearing both of those albums. In fact Eminem's first album may have been that last rap CD I purchased. I still have my copy of the first Beastie Boys I enjoyed the humor in them. Both artists did something different with the form. By the time Slim Shady came around rap had already ben coopted, so I'm not surprised Em is from Kansas. Langston Hughes is from Kansas and he is perhaps the most recognized figure from the Harlem Renaissance. People create fictional origin stories for a variety of reasons. Sometimes they say they are from some larger city when they were really from a smaller nearby town no one has heard of and it is just easier to say the more recognizable location. Sometimes when people ask where I'm from and I'll just say New York City. If they probe further, I'll say Harlem. If is not unusual for white person to say. "you don't seem like you are from Harlem." But those are people operate on stereotypes (@Pioneer1) and I do not fit many people's (Black or white) stereotype of someone from Harlem.- Are Blacks Going To Have To Pay Repatriations To ADOS?
@daniellegfny have you truly assimilated ALL of the far right propaganda you've ever been exposed to? What does slavery in some other country's or the actions of other Blacks have to do with THIS country's exploitation of Black people and the debt that they owe?- How to Support a Black-Owned Bookstore
Hi @Bev I just checked the ISBN in Ingram's database it is not there yet. One quick was for you to check is by checking bookshop's site. They only sell books that are in Ingram's database so anything you see on Bookshop is something I can buy from Ingram. https://bookshop.org/books?keywords=9781005269548 Of course I purchase from other distributors Lushena and African World Press, I buy very few books directly from authors. As far as getting the book into our bookstore. Please read my reply to an author who posted a similar question.- How someone associated with African culture & literature celebrates Christmas?
That's a wrap. Yep, that statement tells you everything you need to know LOL!- Adding books to profile
Hi @Kathy Kanika Marshall all good questions. The book form you completed is only for authors already on the website. Here is the current list. The search engine only returns content that is currently on AALBC. If you post information about your book the search engine would actually pick it up in a few days. For example, the author, M'Bwebe Ishangi posted the information and now M'Bwebe Ishangi comes up in a search on the site. For more ways to get on AALBC, check out our FAQ. Purchasing an author profile will get you on the site right away it is only $199. If your ebooks are sold only on Amazon, we can not sell them on AALBC, but we will be happy to send readers to your site if they click the book's buy button on AALBC. Hope that answers your questions and welcome to the forums!- LITERARY GENTRIFICATION
- Is Black Culture Shifting
He has a point there @Pioneer1.- How someone associated with African culture & literature celebrates Christmas?
It is interesting I would write that. While I don't know, my only evidence is that I have not heard hide nor hair. No he was not elderly or sickly, just a Black man in America.- LITERARY GENTRIFICATION
Again you are arguing points I never made, but I know you really can't help yourself. Most people would make the assumption Del. @daniellegfny does even know what he does not know. The question is why would you market here? Can you elaborate? Del, Danilelle did not write a question, or even a couple of questions, he wrote "various questions." I don't think Danielle actually knows the meaning of the word "provincial." It will be interesting to read the examples of how provincial my views are.- Why AALBC.com Does Not Support Bookshop.org
Hey @Mel Hopkins yeah sites that do that are a real pain. Bookshop did delete my account the very next business day. I decided not to pursue an additional offensives against Bookshp.org. As I implied earlier my time can be better spent focusing on AALBC. I could have had my affiliate program setup now were it not for me expending energy countering Bookshop.org AALBC has weathered many challenges I'll weather this one too. I'm not even going to share the video beyond posting it here.- How someone associated with African culture & literature celebrates Christmas?
Occasionally, I'll check to see what conversations visitors to this site are reading. This morning I came across this conversation, which I found really interesting. It all started back when I was active on social; I would change my profile pic, during the Christmas holidays, to to one digitally altered to show me earring a Santa hat... (Note: regarding references to @Sara, she was a former poster who got mad with me and deleted all her posts).- LITERARY GENTRIFICATION
Yeah they kinda of are. Your people are often your best, first advocates after yourself. That quote makes no damn sense. Where the heck did you get it? Sounds like something you'd read on a bubble wrapper. Then you underestimate the depth and skill required to entertain. No. Either you master something or you don't. You for example will not master Google's search algorithm, because you have no control over it.- The Maroon: Fables and Revelations
- LITERARY GENTRIFICATION
OK you appear to have a very limited understanding of the subject. First, none of us can "master" any of these algorithms. Master implies control, which we do not have, we learn to deal with them. Expecting the general public to attend a seminar to better understand algorithms is a pipe dream. If who you are does not impact your writing, in any way, then I question the depth of your writing. ("devastatingly handsome" 😉 ) No, my perceptions is based upon counting. I've been tracking Black bookstores and websites for over 20 years. @Delano thank's but it best to let @Gibran do the "official" clarification. They are his words, but I think my unofficial clarification is valid.- Why AALBC.com Does Not Support Bookshop.org
Bookshop deleted my page and noticed my commentary. They took issue with it, obviously, and sent me this comment among other things; "We are determined to be a socially-conscious alternative to Amazon and we will not stop improving our platform to make it better and better for our patrons, our booksellers, and all of our affiliates." I replied; "I’m sure you personally believe Bookshop.org is supportive of indie booksellers, but as someone who has been selling books, independently on the web, for almost 25 years I can tell you Bookshop is not supportive of AALBC.com or any other indie online bookseller – that much should be plain. If I’m wrong; explain to me what I’m missing. Bookshop’s goal, based upon behavior (not public statements) is to become the ecommerce platform for brick and mortar stores. This fosters dependence – not independence. As bookshop’s dominance continues variety on the web will be diminished as online book sales coalesce under the control of two sellers Amazon and bookshop." This short video describes just one way Bookshop.org is undermining booksellers -- especially web-based booksellers -- like AALBC as they continue their march to become the ecommerce platform for every brick and mortar store. It is the "socially conscious alternative to Amazon" that I profoundly reject, because it is bullshit. Bookshop.org wants to dominate book sales on the web, just like Amazon before them. Trust me if Bookshop.org demonstrated any support of online booksellers I would be making better use of my time. Bookshop poses an existential threat to booksellers on the web -- Black booksellers in particular. Now Bookshop.org can do what they want to do. How we, as Black people who care about our book platforms, react is what matters most. - Perceptions about our power and future.
