The greatest trick of the enemy is turning people against themselves and each other. 

 

Black folks have been pitted against each other since slavery..house slaves versus field slaves. Yet, they had one thing in common...ALL of them were slaves.

 

Gang culture represents a very small minority of Black folks. It's mainly confined to inner cities. 

 

For example, take the windy city of Chicago. Gangs have been runnimg around since the 1970s. Law enforcement knows everything about them.

 

Just like the white mafia, the reason gangs are allowed to operate is because all types of crime helps to stimulate the economy.

 

Law enforcement, judicial system, medical professionals and countless others depend on dysfunction in order to have a jobs.

 

Otherwise, if there was a desire to do so, law enforcement could wipe out gangs in less than a week across the entire US.

 

Just like any type of cancer, there's no money in the cure. Maintenance of diseases and societal *problems* fuels capitalism. 

 

Black folks can solve some of their own *problems*. The question becomes who's willing to put in the work.

Gangs, crime and violence existed long before Rap music (Hip-Hop).

 

*Gangsta* Rap music didn't burst onto the scene until around 1992. It was the CNN of gang life in South Central Los Angeles. 

 

It's amazing that Hollywood can produce the most violent movies. There's no criticism. It's considered art.

 

John Wick kills more people in 2 hours onscreen than any gang-banger or serial killer does in real life. Nobody complains.

 

OTOH, Black folks make songs about selling drugs and killing folks and going to prison and somehow the music is responsible for what's been happening in the streets for decades before it was created.

 

 Nothing forces people to listen to gangsta music.  There's no shortage of *good* music being produced at any given time.

 

Funny thing is many folks who may be offended by the lyrics actually dig and bounce to the beats in Gangsta Rap music.

 

Another thought...grab the instrumental version of Hip-Hop music if the words are too offensive. 

 

Otherwise, nothing prevents Black folks from changing the conditions reflected in the music.

I'm going to tell yall something.

I thought Charleston White was one of the stupidest craziest niggaz to get on the internet for a long time; until I listened to a couple of interviews he did.
I listened to the WHOLE videos, not just the clips and parts people were talking about.
 

Like Kanye...there is some genius in his madness at times.
He's touched on points that I agree with but hadn't heard from anybody else.

He may be crazy...MAY be or he may be just playing the fool for strategic purposes...but the dude ain't stupid by a long shot.
He's very observant and can put things together.
 

Now worse than Slavery?

That's a bit of a stretch, but not too far off.

Let's analyze this a bit.....

If you don't include  the TRANSPORTATION (kidnapping and storage on slave ships) and BREAKING  of our Ancestors before they became actual slaves...which was probably the most gruesome crime in the history of humanity...and argue strictly over the Institution of Slavery in the United States alone, despite murder, torture, and general physical and mental abuse and violence......

-an argument MIGHT be made for Charleston's point.
 

The reason I say this is because if we deal with just the IMAGE ALONE, atleast under Chattel Slavery, you had a CLEAR enemy.
A clear "good guy" and a clearly "bad guy".

The Black woman and man was clearly the GOD  fearing oppressed victim of the brutish violent White man and woman.

Not only did we have morality on our side but the rest of the world could see we were the "good people".

But today.....
With the crime, gangs, and drugs that our people have been dealing with since the 1960s...it's hard for most people to blame it on racism even though that's it's origins.
People weren't around to witness the brutality of Slavery and most don't even remember Jim Crow and the common lynchings, but they see niggaz acting a fool and being violent not just on television and in the movies but often in real life when they walk out the door.

That's what they SEE, regardless of who's pulling the strings.
People from all over the world often come here and see this and how can you tell them anything different when they're LOOKING at niggaz in baggy clothes riding around shooting eachother and grinning as they hit the gas and run from the police???


When it comes to the murder and violence.

Atleast under Slavery it was White folks...the open enemy...you was doing most of the killing and torturing.
So it was less confusing.
Where they doing it as much as Black folks are doing it to eachother today?
I'm not sure.
However what we DO know is that now most of the killing and torturing SEEMS to be done by other Black folks...with a grin on their face.
 

Not sure what the numbers were back in slavery, but AfroAmericans have been killing and shooting and stabbing eachother by the THOUSANDS every year since the mid-60s or before.
Not to mention the other treacherous shit our people often do to eachother.
 

So we weren't around to WITNESS Slavery, but most of us who grew up in urban areas like New York, D.C. and Detroit HAVE witnessed what niggaz did and are still doing in the AfroAmerican community...lol.

I know a Black woman who lost her leg from being shot by her mother. She is the mother of that 50+ year old "General" I mentioned. What kind of world views do kids create in their minds?  I was called "goofus" but reading Hard science fiction gave me a perspective beyond The Hood.

I work with a lot of Africans, many of them have a condescending attitude toward AfroAmericans. However just when I start getting angry and resentful I CATCH myself and ask myself...should I blame them?
We've been in this land well over 500 years and have had physical freedom to build communities and a society for ourselves over 150 years.

After having the RELATIVE freedom to do so or over 150 years, how much more have we accomplished in comparison to people who just stepped off a plane 30 or 40 years ago?

As I've mentioned to Cynique in other threads, I do realize and recognize that Black folks have come a long way.

 

I can look around and see affluence. Black folks are doing very well for themselves. 

 

But, as Dr. MLK Jr. said in his speech..."I wouldn't stop there..." especially when there's much to be done when it comes to reparations and dismantling the system of racism white supremacy.

I would not have paid attention to Marcus Garvey when I was 12. Every time I think of him I envision that ridiculous uniform. Hubert Harrison I would pay attention to but I did not learn about him until last year.

 

I used to read Mohammed Speaks newspaper before Malcolm X was assassinated. Then I came across that business about a Black scientist creating White people and wondered why Malcolm was involved with them.  I read his autobiography in high school trying to understand his connection with them.
