Pioneer1 Posted May 12 Report Posted May 12 This came up on my feed a few hours ago...... Spain Loses All Power for 23 Hours | Watch Correct me if I'm wrong but this power outage in Spain and Portugal happened WEEKS ago. So why are they reporting this like it just happened today? As if it's breaking news? I've been noticing this lately. Events that happened days ago and even weeks ago are just repeated over and over again as if they're "breaking" news stories. Reporting major Earthquakes that happened weeks ago as if it just happened minutes ago. Talk about causing confusion...... The ceasefire between India and Pakistan was announced days ago. But this morning I'm reading a "breaking" story about missiles being launched from Pakistan and hitting targets in India. ...only to find out this was an OLD news story from days back but was posted on the front page with the other "current" news. People often talk about the 24 hour news cycle and how they repeat the same news over and over again just to fill up time slots, but now they're starting to do it for WEEKS at a time.

It really depends on the news source and/or outlet. There's no shortage of them nowadays. One has to watch several news channels and read multiple publications to get the *real truth*. I h8te when folks tell me about something they heard on the Gram, FB or TikTok as if that sh8t is real news.

Me too which is why I avoids these sources for news. @Pioneer1 a reputable source with fewer resources is slower at gathering facts. I'm not sure how long it took for the news of Spain power outages to hit, but it was not on the order of weeks but days. It happened on the 28th of April I heard about it last week. How soon after the event would have been acceptable to you?
Pioneer1 Posted May 13 Author Report Posted May 13 Troy How soon after the event would have been acceptable to you? Seeing as how the event lasted 23 hours, in this internet age where information can be shared at the speed of light...it's not a question of how soon "after" the event. A competent and reputable news source should be able to report an event like that within 2 hours of it's occurrence WHILE it's occurring.

The media immediately reports *news* that it deems important enough to cover right away. Spain losing power doesn't warrant immediate coverage to the white media. The LA wildfires were covered 24/7 until the last ember was extinguished. Lot of property and money went up in smoke.
Pioneer1 Posted May 14 Author Report Posted May 14 Judging by your comments, I'm not sure if you and Troy fully grasp the point I'm making in this thread....lol. ProfD Spain losing power doesn't warrant immediate coverage to the white media. Spain....like England, Canada, or France....is a major Western nation. If an entire major Western nation LOSES POWER....I think that's pretty news worthy, lol. Imagine if all of Canada went black tonight. Would the latest draft pick of the Minnesota Timberwolves be more important?

Pioneer1 Posted May 15 Author Report Posted May 15 My point was that there are those in the media trying to deceive and confuse the public by showing old news stories over and over again as if they're fresh and happened a few hours ago. This also sows seeds of fear into the population because they experience those little "micro" traumas over and over again when they hear the same bad news being repeated.

People need to do a better job of curating their news. Start with a reputable news source that is well respected. Definitely do not rely on crackpot news agencies and/or social media.

Really? And still be able to report on Diddy, Sharpe, and Trump We did not need to know this within two hours of it happening. If you want Blow by Blow news out of Spain subscribe to a news service from Spain.

Now that you know...what could YOU or anyone else who doesn't have the power to heal him, do for him? But like that old saying goes..."enquiring minds want to know". He was a global leader and people want to stay "on top" of things that affect the globe. Spain is a major Western nation and if power ends up going on in the ENTIRE nation, that's certainly newsworthy even if it's not absolutely necessary to know. It could happen here or somewhere else.
ProfD Posted May 20 Report Posted May 20 1 hour ago, Pioneer1 said: Well, you didn't "need" to know that President Joe Biden was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Why? He's a former POTUS. Same thing would have been reported if it was Clinton, Bush or Obama. But, POTUS Biden's diagnosis is front page news because he just left office. Also, partisan politics and political theater are making a bigger deal out of it too. 1 hour ago, Pioneer1 said: Spain is a major Western nation and if power ends up going on in the ENTIRE nation, that's certainly newsworthy even if it's not absolutely necessary to know. Why are they reporting this as "news"????? Depends on the news feed. I've seen news *stories* that are referring to something that has already happened. It's annoying to have to do a double-take on news that is no longer relevant.
Pioneer1 Posted Monday at 11:46 PM Author Report Posted Monday at 11:46 PM I think they're purposely trying to confuse the public and create a "Mandela Effect" in society where people are totally confused about what is true, what is false, what has already happened, and what has yet to happen. That way people are so busy arguing and fighting with eachother over what actually happened, they don't have time to see what IS happening to them.
