student5
Hello all, I am working on a paper about the impact of the book of Exodus on African-American Literature. One of the major themes in Exodus I feel African-Americans identify with is the idea of a promised land or paradise. I was wondering if anyone knew of any examples of this theme of the "promised land" in African-American literature (from any era). Thanks, the help is greatly appreciated. Cynique
Do some research on Benjamin "Pap" Singleton, Student. Singleton led an exodus of ex-slaves to the free state of Kansas after the civil war.
breathebooks
Maybe not exactly what you are seeking, but consider the book "Promised Land: Father Divine's Interracial Communities in Ulster County, New York" by Carleton Mabee.
