Progressives and those idiot Socialists sank Hillary in 2016. She didn't help herself by not telling the country what she would do a POTUS. Just kept saying Trump is crazy and an idiot. (Which is true).

I said in 2016, that one could never trust Progressives - that they will turn on you in an instant.

Look at Krysten Sinema, once a Leftist Green Party member. Now, she wants to save a important tax break for the wealthy.

Progressives? No friggin' way.

The reason Hillary Clinton lost is 2016 is simple...white men were not ready for a female POTUS.  They would have seen it as a victory for feminism.

White men are having a hard enough time keeping their women from going to work and putting off childbirth and driving cars.

I predict that America will not see a female POTUS until the 2030s and more than likely, the 2nd half of it. 😎

Hillary did win the popular vote. Put the blame on the electoral college!! With a soon-to-be octogenarian president who is in questionable health, we may have a female president before you know it.  And a black one at that.

@Cynique, you're absolutely right in that we could have black female POTUS sooner than later if the Commander-in-Chief goes down. 😁

Hillary Clinton did win the popular vote by 3 million.  But, she did not carry the states that POTUS Obama had won previously.  Sadly, it was at that point that I knew she was going to lose the election.

The electoral college is here to stay.  I'm hoping that in my lifetime, a POTUS candidate will emerge who is capable of overcoming the red/blue divide and winning the election by a landslide.

It would be awesome to see a POTUS of who America can be proud and unashamed.😎

Hillary won the election...plain and simple.
And she was CHEATED out of it and she didn't fight hard enough to get in that office.
The same with Al Gore.
He won....but didn't want to fight and take it far enough and the Democrats in leadership didn't obey the wishes of the grassroots who DID want to fight and demand justice be served.

We see this time and time again with the Democrats which is one of the reasons I no longer support the Democrats as a Party.
No one WANTS to lose unless they are being bribed and paid off to take a dive.

Black people should wise up  to BOTH of these parties, realize they are no good for us, and form out own political parties and action committees

Former Vice President Dick Cheney, who does not say much publicly, just ripped Donald Trump as he should be ripped ... as a clueless cut and runner.

We have not heard much from Mr. Cheney about how he feels about the noxious going-ons around Trump. But he unloaded on Lord Dampnut today ( Aug. 4, 2022 )

The elder Cheney said what his fearless daughter Liz Cheney is doing these days is immensely crucial - making dang sure Trump never ever becomes POTUS again.

Dick Cheney defends daughter Liz, calls Trump a coward

Because that never happened. The reason for the riots was to stop the challenge to the electoral votes 🗳. That got interrupted.

Obviously you aren’t aware of the Trump vs Bush/Cheney rivalry. Why would you expect anything less from the father of a woman feuding with Trump. It’s an orchestrated process to erode Trump support.

Dick Cheney rarely speaks out publicly.

This is why so many people are aghast at the former Vice President's statement. What you don't get is that the elder Cheney said his daughter is doing something spectacular by trying to prevent Lord Dampnut from getting back into the White House.

There is no rivalry between Bush and Cheney and Trump. That was Jeb Bush. Cheney had nothing to do with that. You are grasping at straws.

The reason the vice president wasn't physically attacked by the mob who descended upon the Capitol was because Pence was quickly spirited away by security officers. On January 6th, all the looting, vandalism, injuries to police officers and killing of a female rioter were the end result of Donald Trump's fiery rhetoric that included villainizing the VP.  And your patented narrative seeking to exonerate the narcistic tyrant whom you idolize cannot erase that fact.

Former SecState Hillary Clinton won the popular vote in the 2016 election. But not the Electoral Vote. And in this country, that's what counts.

She was not cheated out of her victory. She just experienced a spiteful Bernie Sanders whose followers helped her lose by voting for Trump and third party candidates who had no chance of winning.

Which...at the margin SHE won the popular vote by...doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

There is no way you can win the popular vote by nearly 3 million and LEGITIMATELY lose the electoral vote, because the electoral vote in each state is GOVERNED by those who won the popular vote.

While it's possible at a millon, it's still HIGHLY unlikely.

The fact is, the Republican officials in most of these states...especially states like Florida and Texas...conspired and orchestrated to manipulate votes district by district to get Trump in office.
Just like they did the same thing with Al Gore.

The biggest problem isn't the Republicans cheating.
We're used to that.
The BIGGEST problem is the unwillingness of the Democrat party to even CALL THEM OUT on it, let alone put up a good fight.

That was a FACTOR as to why she didn't win by a LARGER margin, but the facts is again....the lady got over 3 millon more popular votes.

At that point Bernie becomes a non-factor.
You would have gotten the same results if she had won the popular vote by 5 MILLION.

They would have still cheated, gotten Trump in office...and goofballs would be on television "explaining" how Trump still won the electorate without the popular vote.

Again, the biggest problem isn't Bernie or these other people pushed by the Republicans to siphon votes away...the biggest problem with the Democrats as a party is a lack of back-bone or fighting spirit.
You saw this with Bill Clinton and you was it with Obama.

CLINTON AND OBAMA are the reasons we ended up with Bush and Trump.

A most people don't support the Democrat party...not out of ideology...but as an aversion to wimps and cowards who refuse to fight even when they are obviously being screwed over.

This has been my complaint about them for decades. They don't go hard in the paint for anything. If it's not handed to them on a silver platter, they'll shrug their shoulders and say I tried and slink away.

Meanwhile, the GOP will let proverbial nuts hang when they're steering thr ship. They are like a bull in a China shop when it comes to pushing their agenda. They routinely punk the Dems regardless or who's in charge.

That's why I'll continue to beat my drum that these parties are two sides of the same coin.

Maintaining white supremacy is the primary objective of both political parties. They've gotten n8gglets to buy into and fight over it. 😎

Despite the passion and grittiness so many grassroots supporters of the Democrat party show....the lack of resistance and fighting shown by the Democrat LEADERSHIP shows me that they are in cahoots with the Republicans.

They are just "Republican light" or a FAKE opposition party designed to trick people into thinking the right-wing agenda has actual resistance to it when infact, they are both working on the same team.

A good example is this so-called "Obamacare" or the Affordable Care Act.
This was originally a REPUBLICAN PLAN...tying healthcare to the markets.
It was first enacted by Mitt Romney and the Republicans supported it because it made the insurance companies richer.
Next thing you know OBAMA is embracing the shit and promoting it as some sort of grand benefit when it really forces you to give more of your money to these rich insurance companies and penalizes if you fail to cooperate with it.

What are you expecting Democrats to do, go to guns to enforce their will?

The Dem Party is not in cahoots with Republicans. Those would be many of your so-called Independents and they pick and choose their moments when it is most advantageous for them.

Look at Arizona Sen. Krysten Sinema, who was once a member of the Green Party. Check out New York representative AOC, who never misses a moment to trash Democrats because she thinks she was born to be Queen.

Now, which Party is it that produces individuals who think Black achievements should never be taught? Which Party is it that encourages violence, voter suppression and constant insults as part of their agenda?

The only way to fight Republicans is by generating alliances with like-minded voters no matter their demographic.

Critics of the Democratic party implicitly admire the Republican party for its devious tactics, and its toxic susceptibility to lies, greed, and discrimination against "the other". Democrats try to play by the rules, adhere to the principles of democracy, support inclusion for all, improved health care, veterans benefits, climate control, always advocating for the underdog.

But their critics persist, never coming up with any viable alternatives, trapped in the mire of their eternal optimism, personifying the obstacles that impede the black unity they crave.  How they yearn for the day when they can replace white supremacy with the  black supremacy they imagine they are examples of.  Their frustration with unfulfilled expectations breeds frustration with how they contribute to these disappointments.

I Just recently heard that 24 years ago, Mumble mouth Herschel put a gun to his ex-wife's head and threatened to blow her brains out.  This clown claims he doesn't remember it.  But, she does and told him to pull the trigger and said, "I know where I'm going...do you".

Obviously, Mumble mouth didn't go through with it.  But, upon hearing about that ordeal...some dude in Georgia said he would still vote for him because he's a Republican.

Unbelievable. Then again, maybe not because the former POTUS once said that he could walk down Madison Avenue and shoot somebody and get away with it.  I guess that's just how their party rolls.😎

Maybe the Democrat grassroots and average Democrat voter isn't in cahoots with the Republicans but the Democrat LEADERSHIP certainly is!

If you look at most of the laws the Democrats in Congress push and help pass, they are basically watered down or SAME versions of Republican policies that were introduced a few years prior.

The Republicans promote OUTRAGEOUSLY rightwing policies they know  won't pass and then the Democrats in congress come along and offer a MILDER version of it that BOTH of them wanted all along but knew if they offered it first...the American people would reject it.

I don't believe the answer is dividing your voting strength yet again. All major political parties have their own agendas which are determined and created by those with money and the most clout.

Dividing into subgroups just dilutes your overall strength. Alliances give you much more clout. That's how Obama won.

That's why you got OBAMA CARE.....a Republican healthcare plan.

The Democratic Party has been afraid of anything left of center ever since McGovern lost in 1972. They've been playing it as "Republican Lite" since Reagan, always watching polls, taking seriously the GOP's own silly rhetoric about a "conservative revolution" and all that. As President. Clinton was to the right of Nixon! NAFTA was pure GOP corporate-sucking sellout. Clinton's welfare reform was a Republican's wet dream, so delicious since they pretend no whites are on welfare. And yes, the ACA is in fact Romney's healthcare plan for Massachusetts.

We can make the Party again a defender of the working class as it was in the days of FDR, and a force against racism as it was under LBJ. It requires activism and a lot of argumentation. It means getting out the vote. With the Democrats barely hanging on to a majority when they have one, and most of their districts with significant proportions of reactionary fearful white voters, one can almost excuse their centrism. But I don't, because the Democrats themselves could have maintained their dedication to good policies, could have stood up against Reaganomics, could have motivated all those who don't vote to do so. Stacy Abrams and Beto O'Rourke have demonstrated that this is possible.

We should not despair. Biden is behaving far more like a progressive than we ever thought he would. Abrams, O'Rourke and others may be poised to overthrow a few of the Republican miscreants currently in power.

We will never have a successful alternative to the Democratic Party. This system is stuck in its 2-Party mode and will not change. We have to take over the Democratic Party as we did in 1972. A lot of scary hippies chased people away from voting for McGovern, plus the fear among many whites of groups like the Panthers. If we don't go forward with pronouns and safe spaces in the forefront... because voters can't relate to that stuff. We need talk of REAL economic policies which rebuild USA's dead rural towns, which create jobs for whites, blacks and everyone else, which concentrate our attention on the "rising tide which lifts all boats" and defuses the divisiveness fostered to its own advantage by the GOP.

This IS possible. Democrats are so notoriously unable to cooperate, and so many don't vote. Progressives won't vote because Biden insulted Bernie. While the whites are being stirred up to vote by Q and such inflammatory bull, many blacks don't bother voting unless the candidate is black. All the factions of Democrats are guilty of this dysfunctional behavior which keeps the RepubliQans in power.

@Michel MontvertWhat you say is why I have become so jaded and disillusioned with politics.  I wish reform was forthcoming and voters would become more aware and involved but I've also lost faith in people. And I am a bad example, myself. I've given up, just retreated into being a bystander mired in my malaise. My  revulsion for right wing nut-cases is the only thing that ignites any fire in me.  I fear this country is on the brink of self-imploding because the population is so polarized.  I have  surrendered to indifference and you have verbalized what has me in its pall. The only way I can justify my cynicism is my belief that the world and civilization have never been or ever will be anything but a struggle for power, and "power corrupts". I am glad, however, that people like you exist to deconstruct past failures and encourage future success.
