I've never given the immigration issue a whole lot of thought probably because it has never directly impacted on my life. But I do agree that criminal illegal immigrants should be deported back to where they came from. And - that anyone born in this country is automatically an American citizen. I'm not a particularly patriotic person, and I'm always amused at how black people can chronically complain about racism, and express so little regard for their white countrymen yet so resolutely declare their love for this country. As somebody famous, Winston Churchill(?), once said: "America is the worst, most flawed country in the world... except for all the others." That sentiment kinda resonated with me.

White people don't need a pass to say "nigger". Like all the other derogatory names given to minority groups, people choose or choose not to use these words publicly. Nobody but you gives any weight to what an air head celebrity who happens to be light skinned says. These types simply become ostracized laughing stocks shunned by their own people and used by Whites.

Chilli, meanwhile, is in hot water with Salt 'N Pepper and her TLC partner,T-Boz, for contributing to a Trump fund and posting an unflattering rumor on FB about Michelle Obama's sexuality, causing a fan backlash that's affecting ticket sales for the upcoming tour the 2 acts are about to launch. tsk-tsk There's been a lot of back-tracking and excuses but fans are furious with these 2 sell-outs. What's up with these black celebs suddenly consorting with the enemy??? Oh well. Good thing my State University is filling the void in my life left by the end of the football season. The U.of I basket ball team has made it all the way to the Final 4 in the NCAA March Madness tournament. Let's hear it for the Fighting Illini! Incidentally, the face of college basketball has really changed. @Pioneer1 My response to your grievance is to simply state that your stance makes no sense and carries no weight because it's not like you are the official spokesman for dark-skinned people or someone in charge of an organization dedicated to the elimination of colorism. And, it would be different if the points you bring up amounted to something other than a rant from someone with an axe to grind, a nit-pickin nobody talking out of both sides of his mouth, whose colorism argument never really substantiates his anecdotal claims about dark-skinned blacks being erased from the public eye as part of a secret plot to supplant them with light-skinned ones. Your paraoid conspiracy theory is not that hard to discredit considering how formerly you, yourself, were quick to snidely point out that, to white folks, light skinned Blacks are no different from their darker kinsmen because we are all just "niggers" to them. I agree and don't see how what you accuse Whites of doing, benefits them. What difference does it make to them how melanated the skin of a minority member is? On the contrary, I think these Evangelical Nationalists, who are an arm of the right wing Project 2025 American Heritage Foundation, are something to be reckoned with especially when it comes to Blacks. Why? Because they promote a lot of issues that Blacks go along with: They are against abortion, believing that life begins at conception, they are homophobic and anti LGBQT, they advocate prayer in public schools, and are not sympathetic about Hispanicl immigrants. @TroyThanks for posting Gemini's analysis, bringing me up to speed on the content of the ongoing discussion I lost interest in mostly because the self-proclaimed "light skinned" Pioneer who instead of letting dark-skinned folks speak for themselves, as usual, appointed himself spokesman for them. substituting his maudlin, condescending, empathy for the authentic sentiments of the deeply-melanated, many of whom take colorism in their stride, leading lives as satisfactory as their light-skinned kìnsmen, not feeling sorry for themselves, (dyeing their hair whatever color they choose.) Anyway, I appreciate the summarized stances of the discussion participants, and agree with the positions taken by Chevdov and frankster.

@richardmurrayin answer to your question, yes, "Unforgettable" is one of my favorites by Nat Cole. I also love another of his lesser known songs, "Lush Life", whose delightful lyrics are like a love-lost soliloquy. Btw, are you aware that both Nat Cole and Frederick Douglass left their black spouses for white women? Cole, however, upon being diagnosed with lung cancer reconciled with his wife Maria and died a year later in 1965 at the young age of 45. Douglass' first wife was reportedly amenable his leaving her to advance his politics.

In the mean time, silky-voiced Nat Cole, a Chicago product, enjoyed tremendous popularity among his own people. He put out a lot of single 78 vinyl records in the '50s as I recall, and they were all hits! We loved us some Nat "King" Cole. Back in the day, a lot of - perish the thought - colorist negro women used to pay him the left-handed compliment by declaring that "the only thing they liked black were Cadillacs and Nat Cole". To this day, like one of his best sellers, he remains "Unforgettable".
