Oh No....Not You Too Chilli !
As I was saying, Troy,... once you realize how mentally unbalanced pioneer is, you'll understand his behavior. He lives in a warped world created by his bizarre imagination. Pathetic. He doesn't even know the difference between hip hop and jazz...

On being me
@Pioneer1Not a chance, Not giving you an opportunity to put your malicious spin on what I say so you can go into your distortion/exaggeration mode, as in changing, "frequenting intimate jazz clubs" to "bar hopping". My reminiscing will no longer be fodder for your contamination.

Oh No....Not You Too Chilli !
@TroyOnce you realize how mentally unbalanced Pioneer is, 😵💫 then it's easier to understand his behavior. lol.

Countdown to End of Trump’s Presidency
I hope you're right! Hopefully, Trump won't be replaced with an AI clone who continues his style of government.

Long Term Drug Abuse And Brain Damage
What you really are doing is desperately grasping at straws, cherry picking, and takin things out of context applying your usual ploys to reinforce your false scenarios. What you quoted were not my exact words. You do this so often, that it's become an integral part of your personality disorder. As I say. in my exchanges with you, I always consider the source, which makes it quite easy to dismiss your narcisstic rationales. 🫢😴 Blab on.

Long Term Drug Abuse And Brain Damage
@Pioneer1That's your distorted interpretation of what I said. And you, naturally, have convinced yourself that daring to dispute all of your hogwash is equivalent to actin a fool. The same idiot who himself acts a fool and also dismisses religion is now recommending that I go to church. What a slippery, flip-flopping, jive ass you are.

Long Term Drug Abuse And Brain Damage
smh. No man, other than my late husband, has ever picked me up to go shopping! I don't need any lifts because my kids and grandkids are my chauffeurs who accompany me shopping! As much as I have dismissed religion and extolled spirituality, you and your imagination apparently think I'm a church goer. How significant is that?

On being me
DA BEARS did it again! I find their last minute victories surreal. It has taken me a life time to embrace the "never give up" mindset that propels this team which I have been a fan of for 60 years! It also amazes me how emotionally invested sports fans are in their favorite teams. I dont know how many times I ve heard people say "now I can get a good night's sleep", after the Bears pull out a last minute victory. Meanwhile, I'm just enjoying the ride. 'Don't expect a Super Bowl bid but - Chi-town can thank their team for providing them with an exciting season! BEAR DOWN!

Long Term Drug Abuse And Brain Damage
@Pioneer1Why would I accuse you of lying about something that wasn't portraying me in a bad light?? And do you really think I would ever have to stand outside my house looking to catch a ride with a stranger to buy me groceries and hook up with? Or that I would make up a story about this and post it here? That scenario, however, is very much in keeping with the old lady you cast me as, swatting at wasps in my robe and slippers, or a homeless person, sitting on the curb fussing, or a sorry old lady wandering around just waiting to agree with whatever some man said; not to mention the skanky Dolemita character you're trying to associate me with. All of the above are figments of the imagination you take such pride in having. Get real.

Long Term Drug Abuse And Brain Damage
Humm. Would you believe that I like to sing, and harmonize? That's why I liked the old vocal group the 4 Freshmen so much because of their perfect harmony, and why I am a big fan of the love ballads of the 1950s because they have such strong melodies and exquisite lyrics. Music has always tranquilized me, and provided me with a sanctuary. Back in my salad days, I had no inhibitions, after a few drinks, about hopping on stage in the intimate little jazz clubs I frequented with my bffs and later my husband-to-be, and breaking out in a song, welcomed there by the musicians, some of whom I knew. There was also this song which was a favorite of me and my husband. One reason he liked it was because he thought I sounded just like the vocalist who sang it. OK, back to your private dialog.

Countdown to End of Trump’s Presidency
There's no doubt in my mind that Trump will finish out his term, or is there anyway he will go quietly if defeated at the polls in the next election. The $1776 being allotted to military members is not a bonus; it's a bribe to get them to overlook the part of their oath to not obey illegal orders. Perilous times lie ahead for this country. imo.

Dolemita: The Movie
@Pioneer1You really do live in a world of make-believe, don't you? You're like a kid playing with a train set. In the real world, you'll be doing good to attract a thousand viewers. "Don't woke him up;let him slept on."
-
Jive....lol.
I know it's hard for you to process, but the world doesn't begin or end with your generation. The word "jive" is a word still in current use by BabyBoomers. Camel cigarettes are still sold because there are people who still smoke them. 6-7.

Dolemita: The Movie
I recently caught the movie "All Eyez on Me", the biopic of Tupac, on TV. I don't remember this movie getting a lot of hype when it first came out, but I was impressed with it. It was well produced, well scripted, and well acted. The actors who played Tupac and Shug Knight were not only excellent in their portrayals but their resemblance to Pac and Shug was amazing. Same for the minor characters playing real life people like Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog. I'm assuming the production company who released this film was black because of the authenticity of it. Anyway, I plan to watch it again because it's running all month long on my TV subscription.
-
Jive....lol.
@Pioneer1It wasn't about "teaching". It was more about whether the term "jive" is still current. I think it is; it's generational.
-
On being me
@umbrarchist?? I have no idea what you're talking about.
-
Jive....lol.
@Pioneer1"Jive" is a term that preceded the 1980s and bell bottoms. Its origins date probably as far back as the l940s among swing and big band musicians like Cab Calloway. Jazz musicians probably still toss the term around today. The currently popular TV show "Dancing with the Stars" has a category referred to as "Jive" which is denotes a certain style of dancing. It is a vernaular that really has earned a place in the black slang Hall of Fame, similar to the word "hip". Millenials may not use the term but many are familiar with it.
-
Jive....lol.
@TroyI didn't realize the slang word "jive" was so archaic. I'm around people who use it all the time, both young and old. It's interchangeable with BS. Maybe it's a Chicago thing. Conversely, I've never seen or heard of the JIVE magazine whose cover you posted. I do remember a black show biz magazine called VIBE. I also find it interesting that you hate FACEBOOK but, like everybody else here, seem quite enamored with YouTube which, to me, is no more legitimate than social media.

On being me
Here I am, setting the record straight again, doing so, not because I think anybody cares, but rather because some may be curious as to why a 92-year- old-senior citizen wastes what little time she has left, hangin' out on an online discussion forum, engaging in verbal fisticuffs with a pioneer who has never blazed a trail anywhere except up his own butt. My answer: since the cyber space universe enables one to adopt an alter-ego, and take on a user name and lead a secret existence, quite a while ago I decided why not do this? What the heck. Might be fun. And it has been. In the real world, I am a widowed mother of 5, grandmother of 7, great grandmotherk of 8, family members of whom know very little about Nana's on-line activity; too wrapped up in their own pursuits. They just know she surfs the internet, amusing herself by engaging in various activities, and they remain clueless about the extent of my involvement on this forum since they don't come to this site. Nor do any of my associates. And, rest assured that my "Contrarian" persona is different from how I am in real life among polite company. However, because I can come here and hide behind an avatar, all bets are off and I can express myself anyway I please, Since I'm no longer a single young woman "out-to-catch", I feel no need to tread lightly and act sweet and feminine. I'm off the grid, and favorably impressing men is no longer a priority of mine. Who needs 'em? Welcome to Super Bitch land. Anyway, I say all this to say that, contrary to what some seem to think, I do not expect others to ward off my detractors or take my side. I can fend for myself. Now you know. What we don't know is how much longer I'll be around? Who cares. I don't. But until my time is up, Nana aka Contrarian will just keep poppin in and out, doin' her thing competing with others who jam the board with long self-indulgent posts full of useless information. 😴

Dolemita: The Movie
Puleeze. Using dead people to play parts in his "movie" is no glowing testament to Pioneer's imagination. It does nothing but create a distraction, and the finished product is nothing more than the output of a mediocre mope suffering from delusions of grandeur. The same with using a string of different actresses to represent Dolemita, none of whom resemble "aka Contrarian", the person Pioneer is attempting to parody. The result is a shoddy mish-mash that suffers from an already muddy plot. Clearly this "movie" is not the output of a wanna-be genius. It is the puerile brainchild of a moron playing with toys. More ludicrous than witty. But,no accounting for taste, so knock yourself out, all you fans of cruddy comedy. 🤪 And, btw, I feel qualified to give this review because if you've seen one episode of this shit show, you've seen them all. Phew. There were several reasons, Hollywood put the kabash on blaxpotation movies, one being the reaction from black civil rights organizations complaining how the content of these films reinforced negative stereotypes. So it's no wonder Pioneer is right at home on this movie set. It would be interesting to see what AI would come up with if it was just supplied with a verbal description of "Superfly".

Different strokes for different folks
@Pioneer1I don't really care if you continue to smear the board with your feces. Have at it. You're the only one who can't distinguish fiction from fact. Let's hear it for the Mayor of Pioneerville! The biggest fool in town!

Different strokes for different folks
@TroyThanks for the feedback. I really just wanted an opportunity to give a slap on the wrist to anybody who chided people for wasting time on social media while at the same time they were wasting their time, watching that blaxploitation crap pioneer churns out, degrading black women. (The same hypocrite, wallowing in righteous indignation, peeing on himself, over his deluded belief that the evil GQ Magazine is conspiring to masculinize black women.) Watta sleeze bag. Viewer alert: Stupid pictures and goofy comments from the class clown on the way.

Different strokes for different folks
??? Why can't anybody get the gist of my post which was in response to the consensus among you that social media is a religion and people who follow it are gullible, because its content is, for the most part, just junk! Yet, YOU YOURSELVES, have no problem with being entertained by pioneer's "junky" blaxplotation movie which is equivalent to what you criticize on social media, sooo - said movie belongs on a social medium forum like TIK TOK rather than a discussion forum site!! As usual The Strawman went all off on a tangent blabbing about something that had very little to do with the inconsistency I was pointing out. And nobody has yet to specifically address my observation. Delano came closest.
