  1. In others words, you're fine with women as long as they "stay in their place". One thing is sure; a capable man is not threatened by a woman.
  2. No it's not. Black women have always been able to get away with bed hoppin with white men. It's about you being as bigoted as those you oppose.
  3. You are obsessed with the preposterous idea of black women being turned into masculine beings. Something very unlikely to happen! All I is gotta say is why don't you relocate to the middle east where women are second class citizens, totally subordinate to their menfolk. That is what you truly envision as an ideal situation. Your exit would be good riddance.
  4. I aint readin all that crap. I don't agree with your usual whining about black men expecting from black women, what black women don't get from black men. Drone on.
  5. @Pioneer1Yeah, yeah, yeah, of course that would be your reaction. Totally inconsistent, however, with your bitter and biased attitude about Serena and Venus. Your "don't-do-as-I-do, do-as-I say-do" reeks with hypocrisy considering your resentment over their choosing white mates. I don't think I'm alone in taking the stance that Sherrone Moore should've known better since racism is so embedded in this country. He's paying the consequences of passing over black women. That's what you get! 😐
  6. Just because a person is always on their phone, doesn't mean they're on social media. They could be scrolling through YouTube like you guys who place sooo much reliance on the videos you post to illustrate your points. They could be watching porn, or reading an E-Book, or, like me, playing card games and watching music videos and reels featuring people like Neil de grasse Tyson breaking down complicated concepts like quantum physics, or clips of BEAR game highlights, or computer-generated trips through the universe, or arguing on forums with people of different political persuasion. When it's winter and you're house bound, your computer devices and TV are what help chase away boredom, and are your windows to the world ,- rather than an altar where you worship.
  7. @Pioneer1Watta crock. The only people masculinizing black women are triflin' black men who have forced them to play the "father" role for the children they make and desert. It makes no sense that black women would be singled out by a magazine, as a group to be masculinized. The LBGTQ commuity, made up of people from all ethnicities, doesn't need any outside help to increase its ranks. The trend toward sexual fluidity is evolving on its own as time brings change. Go crawl back down your rabbit hole.
  8. Whatever. I have no sympathy for a married man with kids and a good job and respected reputation who throws it all away to sneak around with another woman. He brought his fall from grace on himself. Tough shit. You and all your warped rationales can't change the fact he let his penis do the thinking. Something I'm not surprised you'd empathize with.
  9. @Pioneer1No, I'm disgusted and embarrassed. Not totally surprised, however. Also, unsympathetic because he brought it all on himself. My question to you is who is responsible for this guy's behavior? Is it the result of a conspiracy designed to make black men throw their lives away over white woman? Or is it the misstep of a brotha who thinks with his big penis because of the narrative those like you circulate, promoting black males as super stud role models?
  10. I'm a big EWF fan. Their music is instantly recognizable, featuring Phillip Baily's high falsetto and a strong horn section, along with funky guitar artistry. Founder and front man Maurice White was from Chicago. Obviously, I didn't know they had ever ventured into folk music territory.

  12. I believe it was The Beatles who sang "where have all the flowers gone?". EARTH, WIND, & FIRE sang "That's the way of the world. You plant a diamond and you grow a pearl".
  13. Cynthia is an exotic international star, a Nigerian originally from England. I don't consider her a "home girl". She is in the avant gard, rarified atmosphere of gender bending. GQ is an arm of the entertainment industry which is very supportive of the LBGTQ community. They don't have an obligation to cater to any one group. Controversy can increase their sales. That's show biz
  14. University of Michigan football coach got his black ass fired for having an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. Then the disgraced brotha was later arrested for assault after police were summoned to an apartment he'd gone to. I'm sure Sherrone Moore has a large penis. And his "victim" was probably white. Nothing surprising about this situation. Gee, he's almost as bad as - Barack and Hakeem.
  15. Why would I embellish my reference to your mundaness with a trophy or a heart? 😑🥱 Watta dummy.
  16. @Pioneer1Who gives a damn what Neely-Full-of-it says? I dont. Like you, he just sat around blowing a lot of hot air, making moutains out of mole hills, never really relevant to a large segment of America's black population, never having an impact. Relatively few Blacks have even heard of him and his message attributing all black woes to the nebulous "THEY" from whom all evil flows. blah, blah, blah. A Nigerian lesbian from England poses no threat to the vast majority of black women. And you act as if homosexuality isn't widespread among all ethnicities. Actually, black individuals think for themselves and lead the kind of lives they choose. The black masses manage to survive. And the beat goes on. That's reality. Something you are far removed from.
  17. @ProfDNot trying to change anybody's mind. Just thought it was an interesting article. I'm not really a fan of Cynthia's. I hate her bald head. And she is not my tribe. Not descended from slaves. Having said all of that, I still don't agree with jive-assed nigga pioneer's attempt to blemish her.
  18. ...excerpted from an article about the Golden Globes Awards. "Cynthia Erivo has made Golden Globes history, becoming the first Black woman nominated twice in the lead actress (musical) category. Her second nomination comes for her role in Wicked: For Good, where she stars alongside Ariana Grande. Known for her powerful performances, Erivo’s career continues to break barriers, cementing her place as one of the most talented actors of her generation. The nomination is a significant moment for representation in Hollywood, as it highlights how far Black women have come in the entertainment industry, while underscoring the long road still ahead to ensure diverse voices are truly celebrated."
  19. Wow, how profound are those words? Nobody could ever mistake you for being an original thinker. 😑😴
  20. Strange question coming from a jive assed nigga who contaminates this board with all the garbage he dumps off here. Too bad he couldn't keep up the payments on his make-over and now he just looks like a narcisstic ol white guy. Nobody believes me at first when I tell them I'm "jive assed nigga". But as soon as I start talkin, they realize it's me cuz I still talk trash and my breath still smells like shit. OINK-OINK.
  21. @TroyI injected the digits 6-7 into my lecture because I was curious as to whether anybody on this board was familiar with the "6-7" expression. Or, if the Pop Culture Vulture would have to explain it... It is my understanding that saying or writing "6-7" is a way of reducing things to their lowest terms, and has become a favorite reaction among the GEN-ALPHAs who originated it. 6-7 is apparently a synonym for "DUH". 🙄 (It would've been your perfect dismissal of my middle-of-the night ramblings.) Lol
  22. "6-7". Young people are influenced by what's popular. That's why young black girls are into all the things I previously mentioned. But what young Blacks are much more inclined to be influenced by is their peer group, - which is pretty much local. Beyonce is probably the role model of most of these young sistas. And the message she sends is that she's a queen who got where she is by singin and dancin and hookin up with a famous rapper.I just don't buy into the idea that great numbers of black girls are in awe of a green witch who might be wicked because she's wearing black clothes. But - if that be the case, the true subliminal message is that if you want to fufill your childhood dream of being a star, you have to transcend your race and play the Hollywood game. Screw the rest of you niggas. BTW, what was the message sent by the whole Rap phenomenon that you guys like to embrace for its authenticity, debating among yourselves who among these purveyors of profane negativity, are your favorites. A couple of generations of young black boys grew up listening to and emulating this black gansta culture. Why does Rap get a pass? And who do you point the finger at when it comes to the "baby mama/baby daddy" dynamic. Did it arise from watching white celebrities? Who set the pace for black athletes marrying the white gold diggers they snatch up, eager to have blond blue-eyed trophies? Blacks need to clean up their own act was the actual message sent by Frances Cress Welsing who y'all love to quote so much, along with Neely Full-of-it, whose biggest claim to fame seems to be telling Blacks how dumb they are, while other myopic visionaries are chanting the tired ol litany of Blacks creating their own industries and codifying their funkiness. As for social media, it is simply not for naive people. Most adults are hip enough to not take FaceBook(Metra) too seriously, it's like THE NATIONAL ENQUIRER, and its adult following pick and choose what they involve themselves in, much of which is interacting with friends and family. I love my high school alumni group along with my "back- in-the-day" hometown gang. I appreciate being able to read the posted obituaries of people whose funerals I couldn't attend. I get all the updates on my Chicago Bears on FB. (Can't win 'em all. And leave my baby boy, Caleb, alone!) We all know, that in the final analysis, parents are who should provide positive images for their kids. Later for all this BS. It is, what it is... 6-7. zzzzz
  23. For anybody who is curious as to why I no longer use my original user name on this forum, why I, who was once known as "Cynique", am now known as "aka Contrarian", this is the explanation. I have been contributing to this discussion forum off and on for over 20 years. Back in the day, as a retiree who was an aspiring author, its "African American Literary Book Club" title drew me to this site. And having always considered myself to be somewhat of an "iconoclast", I decided I wanted my avatar to reflect my personality, so I came up with what was a combination of "cynical" and "unique". And the "Cynique" moniker was born, replete with a somewhat devil's advocate persona; always skeptical and a tad sarcastic, - (something which contributed to my ongoing feud with the notorious Kola Boof, a semi-famous drama queen). Otherwise, with a few innocuous exceptions, over the years, I formed several cherished friendships with people I encountered here and with whom I still keep in touch with on FaceBook. Anyway, with the passage of time, while others came and went, I remained a long standing member of AALBC, and Troy rewarded my loyalty by naming this site "Cynique's Corner". As more time passed, however, I eventually became burnt out and, contrary to the insinuations of some people, I voluntarily decided to go on hiatus, subsequently telling Troy he could drop the "Cynique's Corner title; which he did. With the passage of more time, I finally decided to check back in, but I couldn't log on because I'd forgotten my pass word. When I tried to log on with a new password word, I was unsuccessful, the reason given by the computer being that somebody already had that user name. The fact that the "somebody" was me made things more entangled, and after I contacted Troy, he assigned me a special password to use. That, along with adopting a different user name, enabled me to log back on to the discussion forum, at which time I explained that "aka Contrarian" was the poster formerly known as "Cynique". Obviously, the word "contrarian" preserves the cynical essence I originally wanted to convey. Only one person ever found this to be a problem. Whatever. As Shakespeare once said: "What's in a name? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." It is what it is... And, don't be surprised if that "one person" chimes in with a stream of pictures along with references to flowers and bees and wasps and Cynique this and Dolemita that, yada, yada, yada. zzzzzzzzzzzzz
  24. Hurry up with this scene so we can go pose for the poster that will send a subliminal message to all those dumb black girls out there. Then we can have lunch together after I wipe all this green mess off my face. ********** Troy sure knew what he was talking about when he called attention to how much Pioneer relies on stereotypes to reinforce his weak arguments. I agree! The profane "Dolemita" sewage that this jive-assed nigga has grunted out and smelled up the forum with is a crude example of the lengths Pioneer will go through to command attention. Now if he could just come up with some fresh and original material, it might be worth the effort. And the fact that jive-assed nigga has the gall to accuse Hollywood of "having a history of producing movies that send a subliminal racist message" just goes to show how often Pioneer is guilty of what he accuses others of. I haven't waded through the revamped version that the jive assed nigga has pissed out, but I'm sure "Dullomess" is just more of the same - at least that's the word on the street. I thoroughly agree. That's why I broke up with that jive-assed chap. I agree, too. I'm thinkin bout quittin this gig and auditionin for another role that ain't so degradin to us black women.
