ProfD Posted February 24 Report Posted February 24 https://thehill.com/homenews/media/5160187-msnbc-cancels-joy-reid-show-in-major-shake-up/ MSNBC Is canceling Joy Reid's show. No surprise as left-leaning news outlets try to rebrand in the wake of the new administration. Reid is not the only casualty of network shake-up. Several folks are being replaced with different anchors and formats. Every news outlet may not become FOX but they won't be singing the same tunes from 3 years ago.
Pioneer1 Posted February 25 Report Posted February 25 ProfD Man, I was going to say (type...lol) the SAME THING. I'm not surprised. I expected a little right-leaning from most of the mainstream media simply because a Republican is in office and most of the staff in media outlets are White so they may feel a little freer to express how they really feel. However with the aggressiveness of THIS administration, I wouldn't be surprised if MSNBC did a complete 180 and gave Fox News a run for it's money. Infact, don't be surprised if you see the Huffpost huff and puff and turn into the New York Post in a few months....lol.
ProfD Posted February 26 Author Report Posted February 26 Let's see if Joy Reid will follow in Roland Martin's footsteps and start her own media company with a podcast or something other show.
aka Contrarian Posted February 26 Report Posted February 26 Also, Lester Holt, NBC's black evening news anchor is "stepping down". Don't know if it's voluntarily or not. I must admit, I always found Lester to be rather dull but I trusted him to tell the truth sooo - there's that. Heads are really rollimg. Who I think really needs to retire is Whoopi Goldberg. She's just taking up space in her capacity as moderator of ABC's popular daytime talk show "The View". Going on 70 years old, her contribution to the proceedings is just ho-hum. Joy Reid would make a good replacement for her by bringing more depth and journalistic professionalism to the table. i also hear that CBS is coming out with a program to compete with The View, giving equal time to the right wing conservative POV, trotting out Megan Kelly and Candace Owens as co-hosts. EU. CBS also debuted "Beyond The Gates", its new daytime soap opera showcasing a predominately black cast of attractive, mostly light-skinned, DEI-free actors portraying a bunch of bougie negroes and the conflicted lives they lead. I watched the first episode and was semi-impressed. 1

Joy Reid would be the perfect replacement for Whoopi. 2 hours ago, aka Contrarian said: CBS also debuted "Beyond The Gates", its new daytime soap opera showcasing a predominately black cast of attractive, mostly light-skinned, DEI-free actors portraying a bunch of bougie negroes and the conflicted lives they lead. Considering shared ownership, CBS producers must be trying to tap into that soap operatic BS Tyler Perry has littered across BET.
Troy Posted February 28 Report Posted February 28 I have not been following this story, perhaps because I’ve never watched Joy’s show. I don’t have anything against Joy from what I hear she’s quite the journalist and 24 years is a great run hosting a TV program I attended a book event yesterday featuring Will Packer. He brought along a couple of ex athletes and sports pundit Steven A. Smith. Interestingly, Smith said that Joy Reid’s show was canceled because we didn’t support her by tuning in the way we did during the Obama administration. He said they are all responsible for maintaining viewership.

Joy Reid is a casualty of it. Black folks couldn't save her show. Only white folks could have done it had they elected a different POTUS. If Stephen A. Smith doesn't continue bringing in viewership to his white paymasters at ESPN, he'll get dumped too. Smith already has a podcast and cache with the likes of Chris Cuomo and Bill O'Reilly. He has a safe space within white media for now.
