  1. Our very own @Mel Hopkins has not one, but two articles in the September 2018 issue of Ebony Magazine! Congrats once again!
  2. THIS JUST IN about 10 hours ago: A Denosovan—Neanderthal Hybrid Bone Found in Cave _____________________________________________________________ Scientists Stunned By a Neanderthal Hybrid Discovered in a Siberian Cave Sarah Zhang 10 hrs ago … A remarkable new discovery—also in the Denisova cave—paints an even more interesting more picture, telling us that Denisovans also interbred with Neanderthals. The evidence is as direct as it can be: a bone fragment in the cave that, according to DNA analysis, belonged to the daughter of a Neanderthal mother and a Denisovan father. … http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/scientists-stunned-by-a-neanderthal-hybrid-discovered-in-a-siberian-cave/ar-BBMi9aL?li=BBnbfcL&ocid=AARDHP ==================================================================================================================================== This article just posted yesterday supports my research that I touched upon in other recent threads in this community about our present existence today and that scientist have presented a lot of facts but they seem to deliberately mislead the public by not making conclusions in the form of publications. The conclusions that are published today in many respects seem to contradict the findings. For example, even in this article, a distinction is made regarding Neanderthals, Denisovans and ‘humans’ in statements made about reproduction, but nothing is clarified in that, in essence, what has been presented is that all three of these mentioned manifest that they represent a distinct species, one from another, and nevertheless, they did reproduce and as a result, there are hybrids! Now, they will admit as in this article that the reproduction of a Denisovan and Neanderthal offspring would scientifically be an hybrid, but scientist today won’t admit that this would be the same outcome regarding the reproductions of Neanderthals and modern humans. So, this obvious conclusion is not made clear in their many publications about the results of the Genome Project and so, this causes confusion and conflicts in getting a complete understanding of the facts and it causes contention in debate due to the unwillingness of scientist to tell the whole truth and make a complete conclusive scientific admission of the facts that they have presented. In the past, although it was concluded that the Neanderthals and the homo sapiens [ie. Modern humans] did reproduce, however, it was also stated at one point in the past that the Neanderthal and the modern humans were one species … Oh but no…. But then later, it was subtly corrected in that no, they are two different species of which is based on the same guidelines of any speciation determination process. In the Smithsonian, Neanderthals are classed as a distinct species, at least when I visited and snapped a shot at the specimen and the description about two years ago. It is defined as ‘homo neanderthalensis’ and not ‘homo sapien neanderthalensis’. That would be like saying a Neanderthal is a hybrid of two species. So therefore, if a Homo Neanderthalensis interbreeds with a Homo Sapien and produces an offspring, a successful offspring, would not that reproduction be defined scientifically as a hybrid? Therefore, as this very article states regarding the repeated findings of hybrids in the reproduction of a Denisovan father and a Neanderthal mother; the offspring from the reproduction of two species would therefore be ‘a hybrid’ in all regards--N’est pa? The reproduction of a hybrid would either be a hybrid Denisovan or, a hybrid Neanderthal with respect to the father. As I did post in another thread, the offspring of a male lion and a female tiger would be termed, A LIGER in respect to the male lion, and the letter ‘L’ includes this definition of a ‘Lion hybrid’. And so, a male tiger that reproduces with a female lion and produces an offspring, that offspring is termed ‘a TIGON’. The letter ‘T’ reflects that the hybrid is Tiger hybrid. Now as result of this kind of information, through research it may soon become evident that this kind of science has been understood regarding homonid interaction in the distant past and this may help us understand more about some pertinent issues today that negatively plague the humankind. It may help us to understand the origins of racism, White Supremacy and issues of Colorism and Color Supremacy.
  3. While I was at the Mississippi Book Festival, I attended a panel of booksellers. One of the panelists ran a bookstore in what he described as a resort town in Florida, so I looked it up and saw that it was not far out of my way back home. The store, Sundog Books, is located in Seaside, Florida which is in the middle of the Florida panhandle. It is a fine bookstore. The beach in Seaside was the nicest beach I'd ever seen in the continental US -- the entire area was pristine. The water varied in color from deep blue to light green. The sand was cool and fine, almost like power -- simply beautiful. Seaside, FL was also almost exclusively white. I saw one other Black man who was older than I, with a white woman. I did not see any Black women. I was not made to feel uncomfortable, I'm sure a lone negro posted no immediate threat -- though I was asked more than once where I was from, but it is a resort town and not an unusual question. I could not help but think, man these folks have really kept this place all to themselves. There is no place that Black people can go to that is nearly as nice and be surrounded by other Black folks. Martha's Vineyard comes to mind, but the beaches there are terrible in comparison. There is a mural that tells the whole story:
  4. I actually mentioned several regular folks but you say they're celebrities and unicorns... lol I dunno @Troy . Now you say the festival was done quite well -- but you complained that there was no literature that reflect black middle-aged black men. I give you "alex cross" but that's not good enough. So I'll go back to my original statement PLEASE ELABORATE on this invisible middle-aged black man and how would you like to see him made visible...
  5. Oh, OK I misunderstood you @Chevdove. Your position is clearer now.
  6. @Troy I can't explain it. Maybe they didn't do their homework. A lot of organizers are out of their depth when it comes to putting these festivals together. I wish folks would hire the professionals to produce these events. Maybe they don't want to spend the money or put in the work. I could have produced a phenomenal event that reflected the theme and audience. For a fee of course. Speaking of black middle-aged men (although he's still a youngin' ) Have you heard of this book? Omar Epps self-published this book through lulu.com "From fatherless to fatherhood" @Cynique , I agree! As much as SH gets on my "stupid nerves" - he's is doing that damn thing... In fact, I wrote a blog post about one of his inspiring words - and I was disgusted with myself for agreeing with him lol! I hollered when I read your comment, thank you! For some reason this particular topic was pulling at my heartstrings and was making me feel bad for reasons I still can't figure out - but when I read this: It brought me back to a reality that I can thrive in... There's much to be said about individual effort - but this is the first time I've ever read/heard anyone acknowledge it publicly when referring to the black "community". In fact, I kept bringing up these "unicorns" as Troy calls them and I didn't even recognize the pattern... Thank You. By the way, @Troy did you know a group of Unicorns is called a "BLESSING"
  7. I agree. My 2 cents: My take on this may seem unconventional. Also, I cannot make sense nor can I interpret the percentage breakdown on certain issues but, here’s my opinion on this topic: I feel that this government has a lot to do with the issues of visibility versus invisibility when it comes to both Black African American men and women, and I feel that this system has a lot do to with the gender conflicts that exist between us and they have used methods to foster and carefully instigate conflicts and at times beef it up by way of certain ploys especially in terms of job opportunities given or not and etc. But, way before these Europeans set sail for this land though, I feel that there were already problems that did already exist between the Black African men and women and therefore, this is only being exploited continually. And this is not an issue with just Black African American. My experience with a past co-worker, from India, shows me that they have the same dynamics in their cultures.
  8. Gee Del I have access to new information and I have changed my position. I know you are very rigid in your stances, dig in, and don't change your mind without a great deal of resistance. That said, there is nothing that has been written, or said by any reasonable person, to suggest that 45 will be booted from office before the end of the year. Nothing will happen before the midterms and even if they started the process of booting 45, it will can not be completed before the end of the year. What is so hard to understand? Your $50 is a money n my bank right now (your's too @Kalexander2)... like taking candy from a baby 🙂
  9. Well, Steve shouldn't have been discounted. Harvey has become a brand. He has branched out from just being a comic, and now wears many hats. He is a talk show host (The Steve Harvey Show), a quizmaster( Celebrity Family Feud.} and a talent scout (Big Shots) all on prime time major TV networks, something Troy probably isn't aware of because he doesn't watch TV. And, Harvey's audience is not just black which helps make him widely visible. Guess we can conclude that the much-vaunted black unity concept is not really a factor in black success, any more than white unity is one in white success. Any competitive individual with great skill sets can make it in this country. Yet another myth put to rest along with the one about black women emulating European standards because they harbor self hate. 🙃
  10. This month the EVO Universe picked up two five Star reviews for their current novels Genesis (The First Series Book 3) and Fred and Mary. Check out what was said: Reviewed by Romuald Dzemo for Readers' Favorite Genesis by Kipjo Ewers is the third entry in The First Series and the first I am reading from this author. It is an absorbing and surprising narrative, enriched by strong elements of science fiction and political intrigue, and driven by a phenomenal conflict that culminates in the ultimate fight between good and evil. Sophia is a woman with unusual skills, and with the changes that have happened after the uprising, she is poised to champion a new era of freedom. But a cryptic message sent to the UN makes her a subject of controversy — while some think she is a threat, others see her as one to bring hope. Meanwhile, a deadly attack against humanity is in the making and an ancient evil returns, growing in strength by the hour and determined to dominate the world. Can humanity count on Sophia? Genesis is a sumptuous story that is rife with originality, has a cast of compelling characters, and features a conflict of staggering proportions. This entry is characterized by a stimulating system of politics, humor and plot twists for superb entertainment. While this narrative contains so much material to fill up two books in a series, it manages to move the conflict deeper, allowing the central character to be fleshed out, and keeping the reader focused throughout the story. Kipjo Ewers’ confident prose mixed with the exciting dialogues make this a hard-to-put-down read. It is dense, it is intriguingly complicated and intelligently written. The protagonist — though not your ordinary heroine — feels real and convincing. There is great potential for entertainment in this entry and I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series. Reviewed by Christian Sia for Readers' Favorite In Fred & Mary by Kipjo Ewers, love, loss, and grief are transformed into an enticing paranormal romance that is as moving as it is emotionally captivating. His wife was killed in front of him and since then, he has been plunged into a kind of pain and restlessness that nothing seems to assuage. Mary had been the closest thing to Fred, and now that she’s gone, the void left in his heart is unbearable. Which is why he orders a life-size, customized doll to keep him company at night. This seems to take away some of his grief, except he notices that strange things are actually happening whenever he wakes up. While Fred questions his sanity, he can’t help wondering if his wife has come back. It’s interesting to find out. The narrative is gripping and grimly realistic, even though it is riddled with elements of the paranormal. Fred is a compelling character, but one eaten up by grief, longing to reconnect with a reality that has completely left him. From the beginning of the narrative, we encounter someone who is unnecessarily agitated, someone who used to take control, but now is uncertain. The plot is well done, but it is the exploration of the psyche of the protagonist that gives depth and strength to the narrative. Fred & Mary is a story that eloquently depicts how loss and grief can drive a man to the edge of insanity. But, curiously, Kipjo Ewers succeeds in making it real, using suspense and a strong storytelling style to hold the attention of the reader throughout the narrative. It’s an engaging read. This is the third Readers' Favorite Five Star Review for "The First" series, and Kipjo K. Ewers fifth Readers' Favorite Five Star Review. To learn more visit the EVO Universe.
