  1. The Miss USA Pageant & the Surprising Number of Black Contestants 2024 What a big change this year! It makes me wonder what kind of politics are behind this event even more. Last year, there were a lot of hype about certain Hispanic contestants and now, all of a sudden, it seems, the shift of spotlight has concentrated on the Black girls!? So not only was the big news of how the runner up to Miss Universe was Miss Nigeria USA, but on our side of the water were the many Black beauties too, that won some titles. Like Miss Nigeria USA, however, there were several Black immigrant contestants from Africa in both the Miss America pageant and the Miss USA pageants, but then thankfully, there were also some of our own girls being represented as well. The most viral news too was about the Miss Texas in the America pageant of whom is an immigrant from Ghana and she became runner up in the Miss America pageant. However, when I searched, I stumbled across the Miss Texas USA and she is also a Black beauty, Miss Arrieanna Ware! Although Miss Texas USA did not win the title of Miss USA, however, she did place in the Top Ten and many reviewers believed that she was robbed and should have made it to the Top Five as well. Personally, I think her gown in the Miss Texas pageant would have been a better choice for the national competition. But then, get this; the winner of the crown of Miss USA was an Afro-Latina! Miss Michigan, Alma Cooper, won the crown for Miss USA 2024 and went on to compete in the Miss Universe pageant. Brains and Beauty. She is a graduate at West Point in the top 5% of her class and she is also a student at Stanford University in pursuit of a master's degree in Data Science. There were so many other Black beauties in this pageant, whether immigrants or not. Some of my favorites were also Miss Ohio, Miss Iowa, Miss Nevada, Miss Massachusetts, and the tall girl with the afro, Miss Colorado. Also, Miss Virginia, Miss Oklahoma, Miss New York, Noni Diarra Miss Pennsylvania USA Philadelphia native, Noni Diarra, earned her Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology from West Chester University in 2022. She is the daughter of a single mother. Melissa Sapini Miss Massachusetts USA She enjoys guest reading and interpreting Haitian Creole for new migrant students. Jessi Kalambayi Miss Colorado USA Jessi Kalambayi is a first-generation Congolese-American Kleo Torres Miss District of Columbia USA She is also an Afro-Latina, her organization is about youth of incarcerated parents. Najah Ali Miss Nevada USA From a family of seven. A broadcast journalism graduate summa cum laude from University of Nevada. Miss Ohio Miss Michigan, Miss USA winner, Alma Cooper Miss Texas USA, Arrieanna Ware, Winner of the Swimsuit Competition
  2. Black folks have access to the information, science, technology and everything else required to tell the truth about Tulsa and Black Wall Street. Black folks celebrate Juneteenth but how much do we really know about the reason for it or most of our history for that matter. While I readily acknowledge the system of racism white supremacy, I will never absolve Black folks of doing their due diligence in 1) knowing history, 2) being informed and 3) putting in work to dismantle the system and build among ourselves. Black folks cannot sit around waiting for someone else to *right the wrongs* that have been and continue to be committed against us. Time for some action.😎
  3. @Chevdove The USA has a culture of media comprehension. Those in power in the usa always know the influence of media. The USA will never admit defeat never admit being influenced, that will be an admission of failure or incompetence. The powerful in the usa are trained to rather say nothing or lie than speak any truth that leads to any negative conclusion to the usa. This is why 9/11 was never framed as an act of revenge, which it was. This is why just today, the justice department has officially changed the report on tulsa to a half truth, a spontaneous act by whites to the black community of tulsa . [ it wasn't spontaneous, it was organized and coordinated like the attack on all black affluent communities in the usa] while never saying it was wrong in the past. The USA never says it lost to vietnam in the vietnam war but says it evacuated, even with photos of helicopters leaving their vietnamese allies who are trying to hang on. The USA will rarely while never say officially Russia/The Soviet Union is better than it or influencing it in any way. Media control, like Slavery are two true pillars of the usa. Which is why so many in the usa lie or are slavers or are enslaved.
  4. To @ProfD’s point, if it were not @Chevdove and others who support this site by simply using it it would not exist. It really is just a small thing and it’s something I try to practice in my daily life— supporting Black home businesses. As much as I complain about social media’s practice of manipulating people another primary reason I don’t use it is that it is just making the super rich even more wealthy. That never made sense to me. Spread the love: use BLACK-owned discussion forums and websites!
  5. Prison inmates are being used to help firefighters contain the wildfires in Los Angeles. The inmates earn less than $10 per day. Of course, there is no guarantee that once released, the inmates will be able to get a job as a firefighter. Under different circumstances, many of those homeowners would not allow inmates anywhere near their homes.😁😎
  6. That's totally understandable. You're hoping and praying for a better world. Not just making reservations for a place in the afterlife. Black folks can stop these killings and make changes in the system but in addition to hope and prayer, it requires work on our part. The work includes dealing with Black folks who are working against us as they are complicit in helping to maintain the system of racism white supremacy. We have to accept the fact that all skin-folk ain't kinfolk. 😎
  7. @ProfD ahh right, thanks for reminding about Troy. I knew it was south. and your correct, but said wealthy blacks have no excuse to not collaborate if they want. @Chevdove yeah, the cold war really wasn't cold, it was the first war in humanity between nuclear powers, where the total arsenal of the main belligerents couldn't be used so those without the same level of arsenal could be used as proxies and the main belligerents keep each other safe. the korean war/the vietnam war/all the people killed by cia/kgb/fbi all the various independence/revolutionary movements and all the various armed groups involved in them, all stemmed from usa+ussr but in such an environment the usa+ussr could have war actions through policies, like when the soviet union brought many from africa or asia to learn engineering in the soviet union, or afterward when the usa had an immigration act of 1964 which opened the usa grandly for the first time ever.
  8. Sure. Along with Black history, entrepreneurship and financial literacy, understanding financial instruments and markets is something should be teaching children in schools. Part of the indoctrination is turning a blind eye to the contradictions in the system. In homes, churches and schools, we should teaching the real truths to freedom.😎
  9. Of course I do. Black Enterprise is a great source for that information. We should know our history including every Black CEO. Becoming wealthy would end Black oppression. Never give up. Keep pressing towards the mark. That's why I wrote the same energy Black folks pour into religion should be poured into wealth building. Black folks faithfully attend church services and/or study the Bible. We haven't given up on religion despite that their savior hasn't shown up yet. Oppression continues. Black folks can quote Bible scripture chapter and verse but don't understand how the New York Stock Exchange works. Nipsey Hussle didn't do anything wrong. Unfortunately, a jealous n8gglet killed him. Black folks have historically sold out their intellectual property, ideas and inventions. We have enriched other groups of people. Unfortunately, too many Black folks still think like slaves. The trick of the enemy is forcing Black folks to believe we cannot trust each other. For decades now, Black folks (FBA/ADOS) are taught to 1) go to church (religion) and 2) go to school (education) and 3) get a good job (labor). Our people have been conditioned to 1) work for someone else and 2) patronize businesses outside our own community. Entrepreneurship should be taught early along with 1) supporting our own businesses and 2) keeping our money among ourselves through vertical integration. In the same way Black folks pass along religion and education, entrepreneurial thinking has to become a way of life. Even if one doesn't start a business, they should think in terms of handling business. It's a mindset.😎
  10. The owner of our beloved forum lives in Florida.😁 But, it's not on @Troy to save Black history in his state of residence. Requires a collaborative effort. It's up to the Black elected leaders, celebrities, investors and citizens to keep their states from banning books.😎
