  1. Imagination comes from the same place as dreams. Intuition comes from the void.
  2. I will pose the question where does intuition come from to my intuition.
  3. Cynique - re the devil and god. Something is real if you believe it, or you act like it is real. Fare well
  4. I used to say Italians(southern) are the Black people of Europe. Except for the Black people.
  5. Pioneer mathematics is a symbolic language. They don't exist in the world. Were numbers discovered or created. Numbers are relational, you have never see a number only its symbol. There can be 2 (fill in the noun), numbers are adjectives. In a way words are more real. The definition of morality comes from more, locally accepted customs. Cynique - I agree there isn't an absolute good or evil except God and the devil. Which id just dropping an o, and adding a d. I would disagree that the same behaviour has the same moral value. For instance killing can be the same but the intent is important. The tricky bit is proving intent.
  6. Troy I think there is a universal truth. That we all have in varying degrees. I do not know what it is, or where this Truth resides, but it's there.
  7. Cynique - I see the distinction now. I would argue that there is only inner space.
  8. Pioneer - I notice a discrepancy between what voters tell the pollsters and what they do. Cynique - I am of two feelings about your last post. Supreme Being may be an Omnipotent Being. God and the Devil exist for some or somewhere. How can you be sure that you are not mistaken. How can or do you check your conclusionopinion.
  9. Pioneer - There was a survey of scientists 80% and they were atheist They thought the 20% that weren't atheist weren't rational. So even though the assume they see rational they aren't. The only rational position id to be an atheist.
  10. A transformed signal is not identical to the original. Not matter whether you start analog or digital. A sample is a representation of the population but it is not the population. A scientist can be a deist, be an atheist or agnostic. Most scientist are atheist and some think that scientist who aren't are irrational. The only rational or scientific religious stance would be agnostic. To say that you don't know. To assume knowledge in one field makes you an expert in others is both arrogant and ignorant.
  11. Pioneer- perhaps we have to learn to hate, loving comes naturally.
  12. Exactly. I find it interesting that science is used to bolster an argument. When it is he generally possible to find a position that will support your argument.
  13. Troy - I am pretty certain that an analog signal and digital system can replicate one another. You may not here the difference but there would be a difference. Analog is like a circle digital is like a square. One is continuous the other is discrete. A circle is a square with an infinite number if sides.
  14. Troy if facts are proven wrong or inadequate they are beliefs. So all facts are beliefs until proven wrong. It is nonsensical for me to challenge someones belief. Or to say their belief is ridiculous. Ithink that my beliefs help me
  15. I think a scientific opinion is overated. I would say most people are susceptible in believing an expert opinion. The don't question or ask the question. Where is the personal bias. Since this will effect the professional. I think meaning is more important than fact. Which may be why myth is more important than science. Your theories about the world say more about your thinking than the world - Albert Einstein. Is there a reality without the mind = Is there beauty without inspiration = probably not
  16. I think a hate crime should have a stiffer sentence. For the same reason premeditated murder has a stiffer sentence. I would say that if there were more economic parity there would be less racism or it would matter less. I believe racism is linked to economic power. I think most racially motivated activity has an economic component. I think it may be more important to navigate the economic effect, than the moral one. Troy - I had some one say it was very advanced or open minded to love a different race. I didn't understand that comment. I still don't. If you look at racism, you need to look at sexism, class and economics.
  17. I think Blacks predate Jews in Jazz at least as performers.
  18. I remember one Jazz musician said that he couldn't create in France.
  19. Cynique, I think any answer that you need is inside. The universe is not random. I believe there are eorlds were space and time do not exist. Why is the black hole in the centre of galaxy.
  20. You can only disprove things in science. There are no facts just positons based on our current knowledge.
  21. Pioneer - I agree. I no longer something isn't possible or at least I try to keep an open mind. So no matter how improbable I don't say impossible, because I haven't experienced it. I have been interested in the esoteric since I was a preteen. I believe I know that reality is what you believe. I have met Wizards, Witches, Psychics, Channelers, shamans energetic healers, Yoruba priest and priestess. Some more effective than others. When I meet someone that is less effective, I don't say their field is rubbish. I say they may be off or they are off today. I think it limits your world the more you negate ideas. I think you can be rigorous without being dismissive. If you have an opinion about something you haven't experienced that is ignorant. If you hear a person playing piano badly you don't say piano is a bad instrument. I hear some of the people I meet use that reasoning. I had a two friends who could read my mind. It was a bit disturbing because she would respond verbally to what I was thinking. Then I had a former friend who wad an energetic healer, could see and read auras, could tell you the future by you talking, and he was good with spells. Long story short I realized he was not a friend. So I blocked him from reading me mind. He was a bit suprised and he didn't like it So I am less likely to say that is impossible. What I do find with inspiration, intuition and thinking is that some times are better than others.
  22. Interesting you challenge beliefs not ideas, I do the opposite. Why one and not the other. A belief does need to be proven, actually once you prove a belief it ceases to be a belief. I have no idea about the source of light. I believe the source of light is the mind. Space is the universal mind, the planets are the brain. I think there are only beliefs
  23. It used to be that designees copied street culture, avant cards and the fringe and sold it to the masses. You sold a million records because tour music reached or touched people. Maybe I am just getting old but it seems like pop culture by committee.
  24. It's a pretty complicated topic. Race, Sex, Class ( Angela Davis ) and Power. I heard a couple quotes about the film industry that I thought was interesting. When films started they were mostly owned by the Jewish. Yet the beauty standard was and too some extent Aryan. So you have an industry promoting s beauty standard that excludes the owners. Ned Beatty or Ed Asner said the following after shooting Roots. People complain about there being no positive Black Men on TV. He said there are no (few?) positive men period. Which leads to questions about identity. I think if you are using pop culture to define yourself there's going to be problems. I grew in a neighborhood where most of the families were White but the kids were mostly Black, there were two Puerto Rican families one if which became my Godmother, two Italians, one Irish kid and an interacial couple. So I kind of lived in a white world at school and a black world at home. I kind of liked the artsy fartsy scene, New York Nightlife and Dance Clubs, Boston 81 - 86, New York 85 - 01. I had been involved with European, Afro American, Asian, African and Australian. I stopped swing colour. Although my first inter racial relationship was an internal struggle. It was Boston, which was still intense racially. I was uncomfortable and made to feel it. That I as a college Black Male was disrespecting the Black Male Female Union that created me. What I have learned is all relationships are hard. We were middle upper middle class. Both parents worked lived in a semi attached home from 7 to 16. We saw Alvin Ailey and Dance Theatre of Harlem, went to Museums no Art Galleries and I had seen black plays and the Negro Ensemble Company. Where would you put the following shows or movies. I Spy the CosbyCulp, Fat Albert, Zoom, Sesame Street, The Electric Company, Tap, Malcolm X, She Gotta Have It, Jungle Fever (Interesting juxtaposition), Cotton Comes to Harlem, Five on the Black Hand side, Sweetback and Superfly. The last two I find really interesting because the score was by Earth Wind and Fire and Curtis Mayfield. I remember the protest about Superfly, decades later Curtis Mayfield said it was a story about redemption. My kids mother is white. I was explaining how Black people were treated in the US because of their color. He didn't understand it. My wife at the time said how good is that that is not part of their world. I still don't know how I feel about it. I actually felt that Avatar was Tarzan all over again. Where do you put Prince. If the lives of Black Folk where easier would you have Jazz. Very complex topic.
  25. Troy I think this time you are mistaking my points for my feelings. perhaps there wasn't enough levity. First nature doesn't exist as saying. I was talking in analogies and parables. I would say the mind is a function of the brain. It just makes more sense that tangible is subordinate to the tangible. You have describe the process of the light bulb, but what is the source. I will challenge ideas but less comfortable challenging beliefs. I find the concept of the unconscious strange. Conscious, subconscious, preconscious are all okay. What was riddly, I'll see if I can answer and get back on topic.
