I just started reading "The Help" a work of fiction currently gracing the top-10 best seller list. I had no idea what this book was about but it came highly recommended. It's turning out to be quite engrossing. Hint: Scarlett O'Hara must be turning over in her grave, her green eyes blazing! One of my thumb-nail reviews will reveal more when I finish it.

If it turns out to be a guy, the gay community will embrace Obama and take up the slack created by the Christians who will desert him in droves. Of course he will have to come out in favor of same-sex marriage. Michelle can, of course, write a book and line up a photo-op to schedule another HIV test. And the doomsday clock ticks closer to the 2012 zero hour...

In keepng with his new and improved image, Tiger refrained from sulking, and in the post game interview, he stoically resorted to the old "it is what it is" conundrum when referring to one of the worst losses of his career. This is getting serious. Wooooooo. What if the golden boy never snaps back from his set back???? Wonder who could play Tiger when a made-for-TV-movie chronocling the rise and fall of a legend comes out in a few years? Hummm. Let's see. Johnny Depp??

She's not a "different species" from what?? Creature is a general term which includes humans. Like anything else, sympathy and compassion can be misplaced, especially if they are motivated by people who have a need to feel good about themselves.
-
Puleeze. The only thing you're doing right is exposing your frustrations, carey. I wonder how much time it took you to compose that "character study" of me, and why you felt the need to even do so. You are apparently having a hard time accepting the fact that I am not impressed with you, and you are trying to come up with reasons why. What I've learned is that my lack of regard for you is warranted. And you spelled "where" wrong.
-
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOh, Jeeze. What you don't understand, Carey, is that I have no problem saying "I am wrong" or "I don't know" and "I love you" and "I'm sorry" - when the occasion arises. You are just not the one who ever qualifies to have these words spoken to you. What you need to further understand is that half the time you don't know what the hell you're talking about. And speaking of someone having an inflated opinion of himself, you are not as smart as you believe you are or are you an original thinker. You're just an ol jive nigga who's full of himself. And you have the nerve to try and analyse me when you are a glaring example of a fool who borders on being an ego-centric sociopath. Puleeze. Get outta here with all that BS and all of your other stupid assumptions. I tell you to stfu because arguing with you is a waste of time, and insufferable bores like you do tend to interfere with my comfort. With others here, I always make allowances for them being entitled to their point of view, and I get a kick out of challenging people's long held beliefs. Polly-Annas are apparently what make you feel secure. BTW did you forget to tell me what it is I didn't remember?? Oh excuse me! You never contradict yourself. What a deluded neanderthal. Now go back to trying to get it up for whoever it is who's hard up enough to endure being around an obnoxious ol has-been like you. (You look like you have halitosis and crotch odor.) EU
-
You could avoid all of this by refraining from trying to impose your views on me, Carey, always stating your opinions as fact and demanding that people submit to your stupid cross-examining. And you'd do well to practice what you preach and get specific about what it is I'm forgetting. Cite examples. People who start out their responses by saying "I'm going to have to agree with so-and-so and disagree with you", are asking for it. You don't HAVE to do shit. Keep you unsolicited views to yourself and I'll do the same. If I do decide to respond to any of your "assertions", unlike you, I will be fully prepared to take as good as I give. And actually, I don't always call you names, I just use adjectives to describe you. Of course you think it's perfectly permissible to try and deconstruct my personality in an effort to substantiate the weak points you are laboring to make, but oooooooooh how dare I call YOU a name!! What do you call yourself? Jesus Christ? Puleeze. You really think you are doing me a favor by exercising "patience". Get real. Like you are my care giver. Here's a good name for you. Ass hole.
-
The word is spelled "doozy" not duzy, Carey. You do a great job of living up to the names I give you. Of course nobody likes to lose but I'll be willing to bet that when the buzzer sounds in the 4th quarter of the NBA final championship game, winners and losers will embrace and shake hands and pat one another on the butt and compliment each other on having played a "good game". This display of grace under fire will undoubtedly make you cringe because it's an example that calls for having a little bit of class.

In the first place I don't have to answer your questions, carey. Who are you to demand an explanation? You're nobody but a numb skull who can't read with comprehension, and who desperately accuses me of switching up when my criticism about Tiger has been consistent. And what was relevant about the example you gave to support your points???? Furthermore, I can think whatever I want to about Tiger and if it doesn't meet with your cock-eyed approval it's too friggin bad. You just can't get past the idea that just because YOU feel a certain way about something, that that makes it right. Tiger is a controversial character. His fans defend him. Other people who have a different set of values criticize him. Get it??? Naturally, a slippery con-man like you would appreciate an attitude that reflects "I'm the greatest and when I make a good play or win a game it's because I am such a superb athlete that I am entitled to crow about it and when I lose, it's because my opponents got lucky." I acknowledged from the get-go that there were other athletes who fall into this category but you ignore this. How gratifying to watch my Chicago Bulls and the Cleveland Cavaliers embrace and shake hands last night after the Bulls lost by 2 points and were eliminated from the play-offs. Guess you consider these teams to be bunch of wussies because the Bulls didn't stoop to the kind of pouting you attempt to justify and the Cavaliers refrained from the gloating you find acceptable. Yes, nice guys often finish last, but a true sportsman appreciates that "it's not whether you win or lose but how you play the game". It's refreshing when this brand of integrity supercedes the "winning is not everything, it's the only thing" mentality that dominates the arena of pro sports. And I constantly make reference to your poor spelling because it's an example of how oblivious you are to simple details and how this is an indication of the flawed mentality that keeps you from being a critical thinker. How hard can it be to correctly spell "blooper"??? Any third-grader could sound it out. Watta Dummy. And in response to Chrishayden, I HAVE NEVER BEEN A TIGER WOODS FAN! I may have ridiculed those who expected him to be a hero and barfed at the maudlin scenario played out after the Masters game by Greg Norman and his wife, but Tiger has never inspired my admiration. Or am I church woman who wears a big hat. Get real.
-
I wasn't complaining, bookfan. Unlike you, I was making an observation instead of presuming that I know what kind of life Kola leads away from this board. In spite of all your delving into her activities, you don't know whether the scenario you have created for her is accurate or not. For all we know, Kola might be leading a perfectly happy extroverted life, content to co-exist with her neuroses. You just can't resist casting creatures as underdogs who need the compassion and sympathy you have an excess supply of.

Carey's mind seems to be unable to process the fact that he defends Tiger on the same principle that I attack him. He's a Tiger fan; I am not. I concluded my post by saying that my remarks were my perspective on Tiger, but Carey, as usual, has to try and substantiate his argument by getting personal. All of the question he posed to me, were answered in the post he was responding to but his befuddled mind can't sort this out. He has to try and re-configure and distort the scenarios to substantiate his flawed arguments. Bottom line is that he thinks that because he says I am wrong, this makes it so. No wonder he's a fan of that ego-centric Tiger. He says people who congratulate their opponents and acknowledge that they were outplayed are just BS-ing. He's too ignorant to perceive this as being a good sport; putting aside your disappointment by being gracious. And, no, I don't throw tantrums when I don't win card games, or mope if the opponents in any game I participate in play a good game. Carey invariably judges others by himself. BTW, the word is spelled "blooper", not "blopper".

Maybe Obama relieves his stress by "talkin smack". He just can't maintain an aura of detached dignity. Some of his "off-the-top-of-his-head" remarks are reminiscent of that ditz Sarah Palin and her Tea Party goons. It wasn't enough that Barry razzed the Lakers about not being as good as the Chicago Bulls Championship team when LA visted the white house, his latest cheap shot was to ridicule the record of the Chicago Cubs as compared with the Yankees who were visiting the white house to be honored for winning the world series. He just cannot put aside his partisanship. His excuse this time I assume is because he professes to be a White Sox fan, altho home town sports writer contemptuously cite how he can't even name any current stars or past legends among the White Sox. Talk about illegal aliens. His loose purple lips certainly alienate his Chicago supporters who are also Cub fans. It's a wonder he didn't remark that as athletes go, Tiger's behavior was par for the course. Incidentally, I am neither a Laker or Cub fan just someone who appreciates a leader who assumes a statesman-like stance and doesn't morph into a jock and gloat when he passes a bill, and who refrains from inviting his opponents to "bring it on", like he's involved in a game of touch football.) Diplomacy is not Obama's forte; guess it's a good thing he's President and not an ambassador.

Surely you don't think that only a church lady would fit the profile you refer to, Chrishayden. The description of the typical female poster on this site as being "educated and reasonably well-off" does not disqualify her from also being witty and edgy and risque. Intelligent chap that you claim to be, one would think you could figure this out, especially since these are the kind of women who keep you in check on this board.

Well, bookfan, Kola certainly can't be unhappy with how you are playing into her marketing strategy by calling attention to her "successes". You are functioning as a surrogate sock puppet. But who cares? If all the world had to worry about was Kola Boof's chicanery, we'd be in pretty good shape.
-
Interesting as well as fascinating information. With all of her cunning and guile you'd think that Kola Boof would have achieved better results in her ego-driven quest to become the darling of the literary world. But, her relentless self-promotion has yet to pay off big-time and she remains just another wanna-be hack.

Chrishayden is who wrote the post your found to be "SO true", Troy, not me. It's not often that you and Chris agree, so give him his props bcause you might not ever get a chance to do so again. ;-)

Just another example of a long-ago reached conclusion that the black race is not monolithic and there is no collective black consciouness. It's possible for one black man to speak the "truth", but not the whole truth. It always goes back to the lesson illustrated by the old fable about 3 blind men touching an elephant, with the first one describing the beast as having rough skin, and the second one describing it as having a long trunk, and the third one describing it as having ivory tusks. None of them are lying; they are each simply giving their version of the truth.

You mean to tell me that you don't see on the sports segments of the news all the animated gyrations Tiger goes through when he wins a game or makes a tough shot??? You haven't seen him being interviewed when he loses, never graciously congratulating his opponents only making excuses as to why he lost??? Guess not. I am not the only one who has made these observations. You and your friend, aside, he does have his critics who number among sports commentators and opponents, and Tiger skulking off the field in a snit after his loss in the Masters was a picture worth a thousand words. Of course, this behavior does not make him unique among jocks with the notoriously large egos that contribute to them being sore losers. But I have always been struck by the difference between him and NBA and NFL "coons" who never hesitate to admit they got their asses kicked when they lose and are quick to give their opponents credit where credit is due. But, feel free to disagree with my perspective on this as you define what you think I meant by what I said. heh-heh.

RELEASE THE KRAKEN! My favorite juicy tidbit leaked from this bio was how Oprah once dated John Tesh, former TV host of "Entertainment Tonight" and current new-age musician, and how he confessed that after waking up one morning in bed with her, he was repulsed by the sight of her black body next to his white one, whereupon he quickly got dressed and split the scene.

why s someone pretending to be me
Cynique replied to the_original_misty's topic in Culture, Race & Economy
Wow! This is a monumental mystery, Misty. Something everybody should stop whatever they're doing and ponder about. The world is waiting to hear the answer and the board should be filled with gratitude and relief that the "real" you has suddenly returned after discovering that a couple of weeks ago somebody was posing as you. -
"Cyniquian" always sounded like a misnomer to me. Most of the people who posted enough to reach this level got there by arguing with me. One reason I continue to post so much is to keep others from surpassing me and reducing me to the rank of something like a - "Chrishaydian" poster! Dear, Lord!

A good in-depth review of what sounds like an interesting book. I am especially intrigued by the title of this novel: "A Song Yet Sung". It has a ZEN quality to it...

Who cares what that jack-off Tiger's next move should be? He screwed himself up. Let him eat Mickelson's shorts, and stew in the Kodak moment all of his white detractors are rubbing his nose in as the Master's winner, replete in his green jacket, like a good and true faithful husband, embraces his cancer-stricken wife who left her sick bed to come and cheer him on to victory. Pardon me while I barf.

Hummmm. Conceding that white people could qualify to be called coons is your suggestion not mine, Xeon. Me, I reserve this term for Blacks because it is derived from a derogatory epithet coined by white people. And I feel no urgency to try and convert you to my way of thinking or to discredit your rationale for the position you have taken. Interesting enough, the caveat is that when we define our own terms in branding others, then they can do the same. This is how people end up being called "uncle toms", much to their indignation. As I previously contended, and what you have agreed with is that it all depends on your point of view. C'est la vie.
-
Well, Xeon, what you define as universally bad behavior does not include some of the things you call coonish, a term you apparently think is synonymous with bad behavior. Are people who protest what they think are the injustices of white society, engaging in bad/coonish behavior? This is what got me started on the subject. You referred to the latter-day black panthers who were demonstrating against racism, as coons. I thought they were embracing a lost cause but since they were sincere and earnest in their actions, I also thought they had a right to do what they were doing without being referred to as coons. And once again, a person can act like a coon by engaging in harmless clowning and shuckin and jivin, and if such behavior entertains certain people, then by these people's standards, the coonish-acting folks are not behaving badly. And finally, the people who might call you an Uncle Tom may consider you one because you expect black folks to project a decorum which you have deemed as acceptable, - a decorum which others may not exemplify but who, in not exemplifying, by the standards of some, are not doing anything bad. I confess that black people do things that embarass me, so I can understand how you wish they'd act differently in some situations. But I have to repress my snobbishess and remind myself that just because other black folks don't conform to my standards, does not necesssary make them bad. The same goes for ghetto folks who want to put down members of the black middleclass because they have become assimilated into the mainstream. Just because they don't want to speak Ebonics does not make bougie people bad. We are a diverse race of people, and nobody denies that there is a bad element among us but there is a difference between a drive-by shooting and backin up that bootie down at the club, - a difference between a negligent baby's daddy and a baby's mama giving her child a crazy-assed name. One is bad, they other is just "niggas bein niggas". Chris Rock in his stand-up rountine makes a mockery of black life, but is this muti-millionaire comedian a grinning coon or a satirist? Jay-Zee prowls up and down the stage, spitting out his lyrics about the street life but is this multi-millionaire rapper a low life coon or a poet??? Filthy rich Tiger Woods plays golf really well when not engaged in promiscuous behavior. Does this make him a pussy-mongering coon or an athlete entitled to lead his own private life? Just depends on your point of view.
