Cynique

Critical race theory is a "buzz word" for the "conservative right". It's coded language for implying that exposing America's accurate history makes the white foundling fathers look like villains instead of  honorable heroes. Dissident white parents claim to  fear that if the awful truth  is taught in grade schools, it can cause intimidation of whites kids by their resentful classmates of color.  And it can, because children are not critical thinkers. This is a dilemma because it is the whole truth.  As someone who attended a predominately white high school which turned into a predominately black one, black kids did start picking on the whites ones. (incidentally my high school was where Black panther leader Fred Hampton graduated from. )

As we know, America never was the great melting pot. It was a roiling stew.  Democracy was a noble experiment that is now being eroded for political gain.  Which is why the United States may eventually go the way of all great empires. IMO

@DelAt 1:20 pm today, I took a timeout, lay back on my recliner, and closed my eyes.   I felt at peace and gradually began to sense my brother's presence before his smiling face appeared.  I could hear his voice but don't know what he was saying. This communion lasted about a minute  before i sat forward, disturbed because my dog came and jumped up on me.  I've experienced these visitations before with family members who have passed on, particularly my husband...

@DelIt's been my experience that a computer has a life of its own and can enable  you to pick up vibes from people you've never met.   Ive always bonded with ChevDove and Mel, although I'm sure we don't agree about everything. But i could just sense that we we're  in sync on another level.

What i want out of life is to be able to adequately play the hand that life has dealt me.   

Lately, I've been exploring the Existenialism discipline.  One of the things it preaches is that Life has no meaning, that it's up to the individual to create his own essence.  Quantum physics suggests that unless something is observed, it doesn't exist. So, "seeing is believing" and "it is, what it is"  have become  components of my current mantra. But because i am fluid, this is open to change.

@DelOK,  February 8th will be what would've been the 100th birthday of my older brother, born in 1922.  I have fond memories of him growing up.  He was a  good natured guy with the wicked sense of humor so characteristic of the kids in the family, - along with our lackadaisical approach to life, And, appropo of black history month, when World War2 broke out in 1941, my brother joined the Navy, seeing action in the North Atlantic aboard a destroyer escort that was the first and only vessel manned by an all-black crew; kinda like the sea-going equivalent of the Tuskeegee Airmen. (50 years later, he and his surviving shipmates were invited to Washington DC by President Clinton to be honored for their bravery and presented with medals from the Secretary of Navy,)  After his discharge from the service, my brother was at loose ends and, because he liked to drink, wasn't the most responsible of guys. But he managed to muddle through, always the target of our domineering father who never failed to remind him of how disappointed he was with him.  Later, after my dad's death, my brother got it together and went on to  lead a productive life. At the age of 84 when he, the oldest, and I, the youngest, were the  last surviving siblings,  he got cancer.  During the 2 years preceding his death, he and i became closer than we'd ever been and i had a chance to see the man my brother really was.  It's been said, it's not how a man lives life but how he faces death. My brother came through with shining colors, looked the grim reaper in the eye and never blinked, never complained, took it all in his stride, inspiring my admiration and pride, and love.  I miss him.  

What  "effect" would you recommend?  Afternoon is usually my most lucid time of day.

So we have to be subjected to the bull shit she's spraying all over the site this morning.  If you have the stomach for it and you want an accurate portrait of who and what Mzuri is and why she epitomizes the sub species found most susceptible to the Trump virus,  just hold your nose and read what she hisses.  This creature who reeks with the foul odor of right wing trumpism, criticizes Whoopi's personal habits.  The scavenger who craves Trump, can't swallow Hillary. I don't know what Hillary Clinton has to do with anything but it was proven that her personal emails posed no threat to national security just like she was  exonerated for what happened in Benghazi. She was a supremely qualified woman who took her defeat with grace and dignity and had she been elected, i'm positive this country wouldn't be in the shape it is now. 

All ANYBODY on all levels of society does is bitch about the media. Everybody thinks they are the only one who knows not to trust it, and that everyone else is stupid, and is being misled and influenced negatively by the news channels, But there's always that one particular source that know-it-all trust and believe.  And that one is -   the one that reinforces what they think.
