Well , one of the things that helped convict Van Dyke was the unanimous opinion of the jury members who revealed that the fact that all of the other officers at the scene of Laquan McDonald's killing, did not shoot first and ask questions later. Unlike Officer Van Dyke, they all exercised restraint. There is a trend toward at least firing officers who act without just cause. If Trump is re-elected any progress will be reversed.

Well, that situation exists now with the induction of Kavanaugh. He basically will cancel out the liberal justices on the court because he is the 5th and deciding conservative vote. I think that in Chicago, cops will now think twice before they act recklessly and decide to exacerbate a situation instead of neutralizing it.

@Pioneer1 is your response supposed to prove that there is solidarity among whites when 53 percent of white women voted for a white Trump instead of a white Hillary? When it came to Kavanaugh, and the 3 white female senators the situation was the same. One white woman, Republican Senator Susan Collins voted for white Kavanaugh and the the other 2 white female senators didn't support him. How is that solidarity, when white people break ranks and vote against each other on the grounds of party or gender? This video told me nothing i haven't already heard and is irrelevant to what i am saying. i am not talking about a white patriarchy or white racism. i am talking about the family feud that exists within the white race.

@TroyThe other 2 white alternates, were dismissed; one man, one woman. Why i don't know, but when questioned they said they were leaning toward a guilty verdict. It's very possible that all the controversy surrounding Kaepernick's kneeling about police misconduct played a role in a white cop being tried for murder for the first time in over 50 years in a city where cops regularly get away with shooting and mistreating black males. What difference will it make if RBG makes it another 2 years?Kavanaugh's confirmation has given Conservatives a majority of one on the court.

What a week this has been! Here around Chicago, everybody was holding their collective breaths waiting for the verdict to come down after the Prosecution rested its case against Jason Van Dyke, the white cop, who mowed down LaQuan McDonald, a black teenager walking away from him with a knife clutched in his hand. Because Van Dyke felt threatened by this situation, his reaction was to empty his gun in the back of this young man, riddling his body with 16 bullets. This killing was covered up by Chicago law enforcement with the cooperation of other cops on the scene who did not feel similarly threatened but later chose to observe the oath of silence rather than betray their trigger-happy comrade. The truth finally came to light when rumors that this incident was captured on a body cam reached the media, after which the tape was finally released under pressure, and once it was aired all over TV, outrage was immediate at the sight of the young man being hit in the back and falling to the ground as a hail of bullets continued to puncture his shuddering body. Heads soon began to roll. The Cook County States Attorney was voted out of office, and the Mayor withdrew his plans to run for re-election, so great was the black community's resentment against him. After 3 years of finger-pointing and political mayhem, the perpetrator was finally indicted for murder and brought to trial, his case lasting over a month as a stream of experts and witnesses provided dramatic testimony. Much speculation also centered around a jury made up of 6 women and 4 men, 1 Asian, 1 Hispanic, 1 Black and the rest White. Once word came down that the verdict had been reached and would soon be announced, Chicago was literally on lock down, anticipating trouble in case an innocent verdict caused all hell to break loose. Extra police were dispatched everywhere, workers were sent home from their jobs early, businesses were closing up shop. crowds gathering outside the court house. But Lady justice got her due. After 2 days of deliberation, the jury found Jason Van Dyke guilty of second degree murder, his sentence to be determined by a judge whom everybody has described as being very fair. There was also praise for the all-white prosecution team who presented a strong effective case for the State. So, this is a victory in a war that has yet to be won. Colin Kaepernick, can feel a little compensated. Then, there was the clash for the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh, for Supreme Court Justice that has now ended in his being sworn in. It's impossible for me to pass any impartial judgment on this case because i have such a visceral dislike for Kavanaugh, his supporters and his president. I cannot stomach these Republicans and what "making America great again" means to them. In my gut, however, I know that, as flawed as they are, Liberal and Progressive Democrats and Moderate Independent representatives would be better for the nation's survival than those Red-neck racists, and White privileged conservatives and Blue collar bigots who infest this country and will now be in a position to bring about a change for the worst. Donald Trump is a despicable person who is not the caliber of man who should be President of the United States and leader of the free world. And the fact that millions of white people, especially white men, feel this way, too, is proof of how he is not only a disgrace but a threat to the survival of America.

Doing this obviously doesn't work for you, Loser.

Your conclusion is flawed. To say white women voted for a white man instead of a white woman is an example of racial solidarity, is ambivalent and incongruous. What an ignorant false equivalency argument that is! And admitting that you are just mouthing off, not saying what you actually believe, certainly confirms that everything you express is a lot of empty blather. The biggest joke of all is what appears at the bottom of all your posts where you pompously quote yourself :"I pledge allegiance to the TRUTH" -Pioneer1. A lie, if there ever was one! You've never let the truth get in the way of your pontificating. And you wear the fact that you are not college-educated as if this is a badge of honor that makes you naturally smart. When it comes to you, however, it's just a case of your being an uneducated fool.

Any excuse to keep from admitting you're wrong. You couldn't be making this statement while looking in a full length mirror. Fess up. You're unattached because there's nothing about you that would appeal to a smart woman who isn't blind. -
What a lame attempt at expressing humor. How does an inanimate door have problems staying locked? And putting "lol" after your sorry effort in an attempt to prompt laughter, just makes it worse. (And If you ever ascended to Trump's position, i'd voluntarily leave the country, joining the exodus of all the other sane people. )

@TroyYou found a lot of things funny, including Pioneer's bestiality's inference which wasn't aimed at himself. So I feel perfectly justified in making my sentiments clear for others who might be misled, and am quite inspired to endow Pioneer with fur, fangs and a wagging tail. i don't know how Pioneer would act were he in Trump's position. You're free to give him the benefit of the doubt. I don't have that much faith in a person who gives every indication of wanting to make the world over in his own warped image, if he had the power to do so .

I don't think the movement is dying so much as i think it is stalled, just marching in place, bringing about few results. For some reason, black leaders have not thrown their full support behind this organization, while Colin Kaepernick's solo crusade has captured the imagination and support of the black masses, stealing the thunder of BLM. There also seems to be undercurrents in regard to this organization having been co-opted by opportunistic individuals with their own agendas. In Chicago, a sensational trial is currently taking place involving the killing of a 19-year-old black male by a white cop who fired 16 shots at the knife-carrying victim as he walked away from him. Several black community groups are peacefully demonstrating outside the court house, but I'm not even sure whether BLM is among them; that's how invisible this group has become.

i think a lot of onlookers including he, himself, believe i have love/hate sentiments toward Pioneer. Not so. if i was going to latch onto someone on this board, why would i pick him as opposed to you or Del or Kalexander, guys who are much more interesting? It's about Pioneer being the type of individual who simply irks me because he is so smugly entrenched in the idea that he is always right, and that whatever cock-eyed ideas he pulls out of his ass or off the top of his head are infallible simply because he imagines himself smarter than educated people with better credentials. I am gradually coming to the conclusion that Pioneer is very similar to Donald Trump. He has a big ego, thinks women are objects and is a know-it-all, regularly dismissing any thing that does not comply with his narrow world view as "fake" information/news. (I'd gladly exchange Pioneer's participation on this board for that of Chris Burns and Xeon, who have both moved on, unfortunately.)

That should be "complement" not "compliment". Did the proper diet transform you from "Slender Man" into the "Incredible Hulk" in the fantasy comic book world in which you have cast yourself as the hero? ... Complement: n. a thing that completes or brings to perfection: v. add to (something) in a way that enhances or improves it. Compliment: n. a polite expression of praise or admiration. v. politely congratulate or praise (someone) for something -
How do you know it has nothing to do with privilege and wealth? 53 percent of the women who voted may have rejected Hillary Clinton, but who knows what percentage of the millions of women who didn't bother to vote, would've voted for Trump? Your argument that "Caucasian women who unconditionally stand by and stick by each other even against their own best interests" doesn't hold water because it doesn't take into consideration the 47 percent of white women who did vote for her, and you are also ignorant in regard to whether or not maintaining their financial interests and lowering their taxes were the reasons certain white women voted against Hillary.

Get real. You can tell a lot about a man's sexuality by his personality and you could never be anything but a misfiring dud in bed. You are fantasizing about a song that has nothing to do with you. Go somewhere and inflate your blow-up doll, Skinny Bones.

A choice you would NEVER have a chance to make. And bestiality would be among the many reasons i wouldn't have anything to do with a stray mutt like you who has nothing better to do than to eye fire plugs and imagine more uses for them.

Well, the movement wouldn't be dying if the leadership wasn't lacking in the skills and imagination to keep it from fading. They should have been able to come up with other resources other than social media to keep it viable.

It's not immoral in its pursuit of justice. It is a movement using the political arena to protest how little value white society, especially those in law enforcement, place on the lives of black citizens. Its legitimacy has been tainted by biased counter forces who seek to incorrectly portray its public demonstrations as violent mob action. Its white critics insist that BLM overlooks the idea that 'all lives matter'. Cynics in the black community point out that since black lives don't matter, the movement would be better served by a different rallying cry. Currently, this organization seems stalled by a lack of effective leadership. My question to you: why would someone calling herself "Queen melanin" ask this irrelevant question?

i remember way back in the 70s, an Australian tennis player named Evonne Goolagon (sp), - a grand slam winner who was curly haired and tawny colored and said to be a descendant of Aborigines. There was a lot of talk when she broke away from her coach and manager who she claimed wanted to exercise complete control over her and her earnings.

i have been following the coverage of Trump's controversial nominee for the Supreme Court. Observing the dramatic "he-said-she-said" testimonies of the woman accusing Trump's choice of sexual assault, and the denial of these charges by the accused, has been not only riveting but rather depressing. America is bordering on shambles. Dr. Christine Ford alleges that 30+ years ago, Brett Kavanaugh and his friend, Mark Judge, accosted her at a high school house party. She relates how a drunk Kavanaugh pulled her inside a bedroom where he pinned her down, tried to undress her, and nearly smothered her before she was able to get away and lock herself in a bathroom. Kavanaugh's denial of any such behavior was predictably indignant and enraged. His supporters are saying this is just a case of boys being boys, - kids who should not be held accountable for something that happened so long ago. An astounding number of women, however, have come forward in support of Christine Ford, saying that had similar experiences which scarred them for life, something insensitive Republican males have seemingly dismissed. With the exception of an occasional comparison to the sexual harassment charges Anita Hill brought against Clarence Thomas when he was up for his Supreme court confirmation, black people are almost on the fringes of this privileged white America family quarrel. I confess that i had no idea of how rampant situations like this were/are in this country. i have been luke warm about the "Me, too" movement, mostly drawing from my own experiences wherein i was always able to talk myself out of compromising situations, partly giving credit to the offending guys for eventually accepting that "no" meant "no." I shared similar stories with friends who, like me, prided ourselves in being strong enough to put fresh guys in their place. I also kinda wondered if, because black men are so devoted to their mommas that they are less inclined to react violently to having their wrists slapped. Not to mention them having a "miss one, catch another" mentality. I have also always regarded white women as being fragile and vulnerable because the esteemed status they hold in Society does not prepare them for being disrespected by boorish horny males and they cope with the trauma of rape, attempted or otherwise, by internalizing it and blaming themselves rather than speaking out. What I have become convinced of more than ever, are the paragons of power who have been completely corrupted by their power: rich white men, and sometimes even those who aren't wealthy but who just have a degree of authority! What is really telling about these titans who run and control the world, is how not only do they oppress people of color but how they dominate and control their women. Any attempt on the part of white women to exert themselves has typically been met with them being humiliated and humbled by white men. This is what spawned Feminism, the brain child of rebellious white women. My son told me how when he was in Atlanta a while back, he had an occasion to talk with an elderly white woman who told him that white men were the worst people on earth. Of course, this does not apply to all of them but there does seem to be evidence of this assessment in world history. During these current hearings, Republicans have been accusing Democrats of playing politics with this Supreme Court appointment, and Democrats are responding by saying this is not about partisanship but about a culture that looks the other way when males take unwanted sexual liberties with females, This is an issue Dems want to be addressed and condemned rather than rewarded with a life time position that has the potential to change the face of America. But, preferring to put their own interests over the good of the country, Republicans are eager to approve the nomination of a man of questionable character who embodies a right-wing conservative agenda and who has completely polarized the nation. How will it all end? Who knows. Winter is coming.

@Pioneer1 i sympathize with whomever you temporarily hooked up with. Must've been stomach-turning experience for her.
-
@Pioneer1Nobody was offended by the article but you, - a social reject who knows nothing about women and marriage. Everybody else was perceptive enough to understand where i was coming from. And you have no room to talk about silliness. The crap you try to pass off as substantive is the epitome of nonsense and misinformation.

Well, they are both giving up something in a compromise. Cooperation would be more like one going along with something the other wants to do because it is better choice than not going along with it.
