  1. @ProfD I think the issue I’m is being clouded by your 88% stat. The educators is spoke to are talking about high school graduates now. The stats you shared is not capturing this cohort. Also, if you can cite a source for your 88% stat, I’d like to read more—thanks! Agreed we are too busy waiting on a check rather than writing them. In the early days of my business I was excited (seriously) about opening a business account with Carver Bank. I knew the features would not be as robust as they would be with a much larger bank, but I was living in Harlem and I was gonna do business with my people! Do you know Carver would not give me an account!? They would not take my money, complaining about one of my documents. My feelings were hurt. I went to Bank of America the same afternoon and they opened a business account without an issue! I’ve been with BofA over 20 years.
  2. No, it does not. But lack of access to information due to illiteracy can. I have no issues with what Chad put together. The reality for our kids in poorer underserved communities is different and will less likely be served by Chads recommendation. Perhaps a prompt factoring in legacy of racism would be better I’m a much better coder thanks to ChatGPT, but if I knew nothing about coding it would not be helpful at all. You have to know enough to ask the right questions and evaluate the responses. The people best able to do this will have some education and that is the point of my post. Our lack of education
  3. I thought I shared this earlier, but there is a graffiti edit to do something about this program: PEOPLE AROUND THE COUNTRY ARE SAYING 1. CANCEL YOUR NETFLIX SUBSCRIPTION 2. WRITE AND TELL THEM WHY 3. DON'T WATCH UNLESS ITS A BOOTLEG 4. SIGN THE PETITION https://www.change.org/p/demand-netflix-cancel-the-animated-reboot-of-good-times 5. Get others in your organization, church, sorority, fraternity, church, mosque, synagogue, temple or shrine to follow steps 1,2,3,and 4 6. Get your organization, church sorority, frateraty, church, mosque, synagogue or temple to issue a statement condemning Netflix 7. Come to the CEMOTAP EMERGENCY ZOOM MEETING ON SAT. APRIL 27
  4. Well 95% of what is out there in the cosmos today’s scientists can’t explain. They call this stuff dark matter and dark energy. If love is as force in the classical sense there could be a love field and a love particle that binds us all together. Fun fact @Mel Hopkins, one of the early network protocols the “Ethernet” got its name from the Arther you speak of.
  5. amazingly it does still exist in 2024. when I was a kid the “high-yellow” people were just considered prettier stuck up, worse in bed, softer, smarter, etc, the dark skinned people were uglier ( you could be good looking for a dark skinned person), dumber, stronger, criminally oriented, better in bed, more ghetto etc. i think white people view us in the same way on some level. When I was in grade school they tracked us the class with the worst students were all dark skinned boys. I don’t think it was a coincidence , it was prejudice.
  6. is because of a change in cognition, the realization that things like love are complex, a limitation in our language. or something else? i often sometimes feed that way because in front my point across effectively. If I did everyone would at least understand what I’m saying even if they disagreed. But I believe if you understood what I was saying you’d have no choice but to agree love is one of those things that may be difficult to define but easy to recognize. Assuming you are not to damaged yourself.
  7. A woman darker than I called me light skinned, I was I taken aback, as I never considered myself light skinned. But from her perspective I guess I was, @tipsyturv whether one is considered light or dark skinned is in the eye of the beholder. In my book the person the photo is not dark skinned.
  8. true especially for us. do you know the literacy rate for Black boys aged 18 and if that number has changed historically. Guess it is less than 86% and dropping.
  9. Well I’m can’t get bent outta shape over their clowning, nor will I take their actions and make the leap that “this kind of behavior will be encouraged now due to what is going on over there in the Middle East.” i fail to see the connection with want is going on in the Gaza Strip and the dumb video.
  10. Any educator worth a damn knows this already and they are so concerned. both of my grandfathers were illiterate one lived on a subsistence level and the, born in 1880 when illiteracy was essentially the norm for black American did quite well for himself even leaving all his descendants a modest inheritance. In the 21st century the average mofo better know how to read. If you have R. Kelly’s talent you’ll get by. The vast majority of us do not have the talent to be a professional entertainer. @Chevdove just create a free account with chatGPT https://chatgpt.com/ and start asking it questions you can for pretty in depth. That is how I got started. There are many tools available that provide a variety of tools.
  11. The problem with race is it is an artificial and subjective assessment but based upon American standards he is Black even with the Anglo lips
  12. I think it can do both but we have to be very careful. The geniuses behind the companies that run AI indeed on AI don’t really care about anything but making money so doing both will be exceedingly challenging. where do I sign up! By the time science is advanced we can cultivate more humans in artificial wombs. have you seen the film Ex Machina? If not I highly recommend it Yes I agree that we are slaves to tech @Delano but it does not have to be way, it is just very lucrative, so there is no incentive to change.
  13. @tipsyturv of course there is no way, in many case, to be able tell one’s ethnicity from the way they look. But you asked us to guess using my limited and biased American lens he is a spook just like the rest of us
  14. @ProfD I’m calm, I’m just perplexed by your response. You know I know the definition of the word Illiterate. You know the definition I was using. This straw man argument of yours, claiming Lincoln was illiterate to make a point, is not one I will pursue. The fact is educators are concerned that increasing numbers of Black children are graduating without the requisite shills to make it in our society, notably the ability to read at a high enough level. So ProfD, what is your point? Is their concern alarmist? Is the ability to read ovrrrated? Do you not believe them? What? Given your reaction and your history, I still think there was something deeper you are not revealing. that or your account has been hacked
  15. yeah it is hard to wrap your mind around that. I think it is because we think too much of ourselves. how many living creatures did you kill today without even thinking about it? Smashing ants to death as you walked down the street.
  16. Opinions expressed here do not represent those of the owners, associates or distant relatives.
  17. what?! Is this pioneer using the good professor’s account? ok we CLEARLY can’t have a serious conversation on this subject. That statement is profoundly absurd man, I’m shocked Were you triggered by my use of the word iillit
  18. @Delano actually I’m assuming AI will NOT have human characteristics when it surpasses us. I tried to convey that with my comments. When AI is sufficiently advanced humanity will be of no l consequence. Keep in mind AI is not “programmed” in the traditional sense. absolutely the sister who wrote the matrix is feeling write prescient right now.
  19. Below is an interesting comment to an article on the site, "The Music Moguls Who Bled Millions from a Black Legend" by Reclamation Project. (Note: Someone from the Nation must have given me permission to run this article and I must have had an explicit reason to run it as I rarely republish entire articles that have been published elsewhere it is bad for SEO) What do you think about the article linked at the end of the commentor's post ("Motown’s abuse of its artists")? In an earlier version of the comment Minister Farrakhan was referred to as "Sinister Farra-Con." I deleted that version as the comments were the same save the gratuitous diss. J. Feldman's Cooments Follows: Total racist, anti-Semitic rubbish. Louis Farrakhan's claims are unsupported. The fact is that without the Chess family, you never would have heard of Chuck Berry, Howlin' Wolf, Buddy Guy, and plenty of other Black artists. Yes, all artists--regardless of race, religion, nationality, or ethnicity--need their own proper legal representation and managers to look out for them. That's always been the case. Even the Beatles had to get involved in litigation to get their share of royalties due them. And that has nothing to do with whether or not the record companies, theater owners, etc. are White, Black, Jewish, Christian, or whatever. Now, as part of getting proper management representation, one of the biggest names in the business years ago was Joe Glaser, a Jewish manager of musical artists. Joe Glasser was a feared person in the business industry, as he fought fiercely on behalf of his clients. Associated Booking Corporation, or "ABC" as it is also known, was incorporated on June 26, 1943, and is still in existence today. Glass and his company have represented such performers as Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Lionel Hampton, Woody Herman, Dave Brubeck, Barbra Streisand, B.B. King, The Allman Brothers Band, T. Rex, and The Platters, to name a few. Does Louis Farrakhan have anything to say about Joe Glasser, who has done far more to benefit Black people than Farrakhan ever did? Nope. And when Berry Gordy started his own record company and created the Motown empire, Gordy ripped off Black artists far worse than the Chess Brothers could ever do. But does Louis Farrakhan have anything to say about Berry Gordy? Of course not. This entire article is just racist, anti-Semitic BS. Here's just one article on Berry Gordy's ripoffs: https://english.elpais.com/...
  20. Yeah she looks good. If her mind is as sharp as yours there must be something in the water
  21. that was the definition I was using. Does your response change? that is a surprising response, if someone were responsive for “humankind's greatest achievements and accomplishments” surely we would know there names if you shared them.
  22. @Delano If AI becomes superior to humans the rights we bestow on it and the murder question are irrelevant. The power dynamic will have shifted. AI would potentially be as concerned about us as we are with chickens. AI would know us better than we know ourselves and train us to do their bidding the way we train animals. That is assuming AI found it necessary to keep us around and not exterminate us like vermin. @aka Contrarian I often wonder if life would be better without technology. It seems no one is able to make the evaluation given the bias of living in a given time. I’m old enough to remember days before technology was in use and I’m not convinced we were less happy. technology has brought us longer healthier lives, the ability to travel cheaply and widely, more food, access to information and entertainment, but I’m not convinced people are actually happier. I doubt white men are happier. Women are probably happier, but that may have more to do with freedoms enjoyed by civil rights. One could argue that the increased happiness Black people enjoy due to emancipation and civil rights has been wiped out by technology. net-net I believe I’m personally better off with tech, but as a society I’m not so sure. The quote from Kurt V, @Delano shared was a excellent example.
  23. This implies that being human is the pinnacle. AI has the ability to become something far superior to a human.
  24. You gotta add two more things @Delano; (1) provide free and low cost labor; and (2) serve as a scape goat to low and middle class white people. Woodson called it “miseducation.”
