Walter White, Black Novelist and Activist During the Harlem Renaissance
Yeah Walter White is a peculiar fellow. His wife (divorced) and children apparently did not like him very much. Maybe they knew he was lying about being Black -- even in a 19th century context. Deep. I always, in my mind's eye, saw at least my complex or darker. See how prejudice works! Maybe. Growing up in da 'hood dem "high yaller b*tches" got a of of grief. If heard other girls say so-n-so though she was better than everyone else, for no other reason than her complexion. Oh, and you better be a red-bone with that "good hair," cause some girls would cut you hair out of spite. Now the light-skinned brothers did have it easier, the sisters use to favor them -- especially if they were tall, slim, had light eyes, and "good hair." It seems things changed around the time Michael Jordan was popular. Jordan made dark skin and a bald not just acceptable, but even desirable 😉 Then the thuggish brothers emerged as the favorites of ladies, you know the kinda timberland-wearing, pant-sagging, tattooed, nigga that would hurt you for a minor slight. Every girl wants a man with at least a little thug in him. Perhaps, to your point @Pioneer1, rap played a part in this... I dunno.

How to Support a Black-Owned Bookstore
Hi @Bev, Sure the bookstore list may be found here: https://aalbc.com/bookstores/list.php I see the ebook, Dr. Sebi Speaks of Dembali by Beverly Oliver is only available as an Amazon's, Kindle. I assume you are the author. Assuming that you did not give Amazon exclusivity, you can simply make it available in a format that allows other booksellers to sell it. Does your ebook have an ISBN? I found the book here: https://booklife.com/project/dr-sebi-speaks-of-dembali-49864 but I recognize the code as an Amazon proprietary identifier. --------------- I noticed that the comment section is back on the Oprah Mag site. I have not idea how long it was missing. I also noticed that he bookshop.org buy links are affiliate links so I guess Oprah Mag was really just interested in supporting themselves; any support of Black owned store would be purely accidental.

Candace Owens and Kamala Harris are Basically the Same
LOL! Cute. But the analogy does not apply. Besides there are things that are actually happening today that we can do something about. It is curious that you got you panties all twisted up over some white militia group's chatter to infect Jews with Covid, meanwhile you can't be bothered to do something as simple has to voting.

I'm Convinced: These Are All The Same Woman
I've actually never had a Red Bull. But it is it any worse than mixing coffee with alcohol, as in an Irish Whisky, a drink I do enjoy?

Ice Cube's Bonehead Move
You keep saying this, but there was, and is not uniform African culture. We can from different groups of people with different culture and languages. We can not go back to anything -- it is lost. Even if it were recoverable would it be something that we would to go back to in 2020. We need to move forward. But I agree we should we imitate caucasians, but we can definitely learn from them. They have accomplished great things. Not all white people are Andrew Jackson, Jefferson Davis, and Hitler.

Walter White, Black Novelist and Activist During the Harlem Renaissance
The blond-haired, blue-eyed, Walter White apparently had a Black ancestor. I never read an account of who in his background was Black. Maybe he was similar to Plessey Ferguson where only one of his eight great-grand parent was Black and he presented as a white man too. We know he lived his life, most of it anyway, as a Black man. By today's standard, he would be likened to the Rachel Dolezal (sp?) of the world. I already know @Pioneer1 would not consider him to be a Black man, but in the standard of America 100 years ago he was. Would he be a Black man today?

Candace Owens and Kamala Harris are Basically the Same
@Pioneer1 I reviewed all the sources Black Enterprise's: website rarely has original content. The article just references other sites -- which I did not pursue. Business Insider: This is an article comments on another article which say, violent extremists "continue to make bioterrorism a popular topic among themselves...." Again, this is a conversation about a conversation, not about actions. ABC News: The article did not even mention Black people?! Police1.com: What the hell is this site? They are just commenting on the ABC News article which, again, isn't even about Black people. These sources do not back up your assertions. Most are commentary of commentary that have nothing to do with Black people. If you read any of the articles you did not read them with comprehension. You are being an alarmist. Again, the most we have is the FBI reporting about what some white extremists are talking about. The treat to Black people appears to be created by you, for it is not even substantiated by the sources you referenced. Pioneer, I seriously believe you consume too much information from questionable sources and way too much negative information, and have a distorted world view as a result. 45's presidency will not lead to a collapse of the American system, if it, in the unlikely chance that it does what emerges will only benefit the truly evil and the super wealthy. If shit does hit the fan. I'll take Candice up on her offer to pay my way to Africa. Shoot I may do it anyway...

I'm Convinced: These Are All The Same Woman
I was not familiar with the beverage lean, but Red Bull mixed with liquor is pretty common in bars. What rap song do I need to listen (or get women to listen to) to be in my man's position?

I'm Convinced: These Are All The Same Woman
Maybe it just popularizes what was already out there. I never heard of "sizzurp" until just now. I just looked it up. Yeah if some rapper starts rapping about how great sizzurp is while surrounded by sexy groupies, I guess it would influence impressionable young people to try it.

Candace Owens and Kamala Harris are Basically the Same
Attacks are bad. Critique is necessary, too often we confuse the two. Are you still exaggerating? Which white supremacist groups did the FBI say were planning this? Where was this clearly stated?

Issa Rae's Favorite Black Owned Bookstore
This is too cool. A celebrity doing something substantive to support a Black-owned bookstore! Eso Won bookstore in Los Angeles, CA. ...I guess I should give Google some credit too 😉

The Dead Are Arising
I'm experimenting with Instagram again (everyone touts it as the best way to engage with people). I found an easy way to post from my lap top (installing Instagram on my cell phone is a nonstarter).

I'm Convinced: These Are All The Same Woman
What is "right" has changed. The class distinctions in the way Black people dress, particularly the women, is quite pronounced today. Has rap had an influence on the culture, or is rap reflective of the culture? I think it is the later. The problem is it is reflective of a small portion of our culture and white people are the ones profiting off exploiting this small portion of the culture. White folk and many Black people them embrace this as if it is somehow reflective of the whole (stereotype). They do this at our expense and at no consequence to themselves. We need Black owned media, but we need conscious Black media, because many of the Black media platforms we do have simply do what white media does -- because it is so very lucrative.

...Talking About Good Music, Check out I Called Him Morgan
While talking about the problems with rap music today, it made me think about a documentary I watched earlier this week, I Called Him Morgan, on Netflix. The sound track alone was worth the price of the ticket. Art Blakley's Band -- Damn they were good!

I'm Convinced: These Are All The Same Woman
Yeah, we aged out fam. Still when we were younger the lyrics were cleaner (definitely more songs about love), the presentation is was classier, the musicianship was superior. It was just better, objectively so (at east that is what I think). The dirty stuff available back then, but it was kept away from children, because we knew it was in appropriate for them. As a kid If you managed to get you hands on some Blow Fly or some other dirty rapper you listened to in hiding. You did not drive down the street blasting it out you car windows.

I'm Convinced: These Are All The Same Woman
This is largely why I don't keep up with mainstream rap today. I learned who Megan was on this forum (I'd heard her "music," but did not know her name). Well @Pioneer1 why don't you share information about the Black female rap artist worth listening to. Who are the Black owned media platforms hyping?

Candace Owens and Kamala Harris are Basically the Same
To be clear neither do I. I shared the video for the reasons I provided. The title of the post was taken from the YouTube video.

I never wrote the above. You also have a habit of over simplifying things. If you reread what I actually wrote.... nevermind I've already determined that you are incorrigible when it comes to issues if race.

White Paper on the Black Books Ecosystem
I never read this article and while i hear of Drum and Spear I was unfamiliar with DC's Pyramid Books. @Nnamdi Azikiwe are you familiar with the Brothers who ran Karibu Books?

Tricknology: Tricks Of White Supremacy
I could Block Amazon's ads coming in through Google, but I have not as they drive up the price in the auction. My kin folk know to come directly to me for the directly.

Candace Owens and Kamala Harris are Basically the Same
Here we go.... Dude there is only one race, all the conclusions you derive from the false belief of multiple races are just wrong. You implied that Kathleen Clever looks caucasian, so in your book what "race" is she? Is she kin folk? By the way Italian is a nationality and does not describe the way one looks, any more than American does. This is a stereotype, and as such is completely useless in understanding the behaviors of people. I know clinging to these stereotypes makes it easier for some to understand the world, but ones understanding is naturally flawed when it is based upon stereotypes. It goes without saying, there are evil white people, but there are also righteous and courageous ones too. I know there is no way for me to explain this to you in a way that you will accept, so I not going to try.

Tricknology: Tricks Of White Supremacy
Of course not these platforms are optimized to create filter bubbles -- which narrow the focus of the information that people see. In order to be seen on social media. Sites like AALBC must pay for promotion to be seen on Facebook. Everything else that is seen is algorithmically drive to drive engagement. People who commune news solely from social media are being feed celerity nonsense, like Gal Gadot BS that started this conversation, propaganda, and lies.

All Skin Folk Ain't Kin Folk......
All Skinfolk Ain't Kinfolk is the name of a documentary film by Angela Tucker. You can watch the entire film here. I have not watched the film yet, so I don't know how "All Skin Folk Ain't Kin Folk" ties in with the film. I have no idea who the major of New Orleans is right now so I'm sure I'll enjoy the film based upon what I've seem so far 🙂

White Paper on the Black Books Ecosystem
Sure we do, we just don't use our alternatives. AALBC and other Black owned business -- including the ones selling through Amazon today can sell these books directly (all the ones I looked at have websites). If people did not sell on Amazon readers would have to seek out our sources for these books. Once Amazon is out the loop the additional profit could be used to build our businesses and that money would stay in the community longer -- rather than going straight into Jeff Bezos' (JB) pockets Which Pyramid Book are you talking about? I'm familiar with Pyramid Book in south Florida: https://aalbc.com/bookstores/store.php?store_name=Pyramid+Books

LOL (where are you getting these photos). Please elaborate.
