  1. Yeah I can't figure iut why Vlad get access to everyone. You have stop watching and promoting Vlad's channel. If are really against him how he exploits us. I agree with you and no longer watch his videos (I did watch the one you just shared). I ask myself after and during the the consumption of anthing (this forum, a movie, a book, music, an activity, food, whatever) am i better off. If the answer is always I'm worse off; then I stop doing that activity. Are you better off having watch that video, or any Vlad video?
  2. Get the Soul Brother’s Empowerment Package while supplies last! These books were specifically selected with Black men in mind. Get all six for only $99, includes free two-day shipping and no sales tax (unless you are shipping to Florida). New Fiction The Awkard Black Man by Walter Mosley Blacktop Wasterland by S. A. Cosby Classic Fiction Captain Blackman by John A. Williams Classic Nonfiction The Mis-Education of the Negro by Carter G. Woodson The Destruction of Black Civilization by Chancellor Williams The Souls of Black Folk (includes “The Talented Tenth” and “The Souls of White Folk”) This bundle is available exclusively from AALBC — Even the big “A” cant sell new copies of all six books at this price! "Soul Brother" is no longer a term commonly used as far as I can tell. I was gonna call this the "Black Man's Power package" would that or some variation using "Black man" have been better? I thought what would it sound like if some white guy created a package called the "White Man's Power Package." To me it sounds racist... But some believe racism is tied to power and therefore Black people can't be racist. That is not an idea I fully embrace, but I see where those who believe it are coming from. At any rate, white people could benefit from reading these books, but I know the VAST majority never will. Though Williams, in his heyday, enjoyed broad appeal and acclaim as does Mosley... so you never know. Maybe I should have just promoted the books as six excellent books titles ... nah I'll target my Brother's. No one pays much attention to our mental nourishment.
  3. Again this would be great fodder for fascinating novel. Many believe in an infinite number of alternative universes where Malcolm lived to celebrate his 95th birthday. One can only wonder what those world's would be like... The reality ,however, is that Malcolm was just one man in a fundamentally white racist culture. So, much more would have needed to change in American society for even 100 Malcolm to have a meaningful impact.
  4. That is an even more interesting thought to contemplate! Imagine if every Black leader who was assassinated were allowed to live full and productive lives -- from Nat Turner to Medgar Evers to Fred Hampton. I knew Barack Obama never had to fear being assassinated, he would never be capable of having the impact of an MLK or Malik. Some great writer should spin quite a tale crafting a world where El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz was allowed to live ... imagine that! If Malik and the others were never murdered maybe gangtser-rap and it's sister hooker-rap would never have emerged.
  5. BET -- when? Sure, dude like you, Del, and I have heard of him, but when was the last time you heard anything about him? Do you think someone who is 30-something is more likely to heard of Thee Stallion of Crouch? Does it matter?. If James Baldwin, Malcolm X, or MLK were alive today they would be obscure fringe entitles personalities eclipsed by the likes of Cardi B and Kanye West.
  6. Established in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English to make literacy by African American Authors/Writers a significant part of Black History Month. At its November 1989 meeting, the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English accepted the Issues Committee's recommendation that the Black Caucus sponsor a nationwide Read-In on the first Sunday of February. At the request of educators, Monday was designated for educational institutions. Dr. Jerrie Cobb Scott, an active member of NCTE and the Black Caucus, brought the idea to the Committee. It was envisioned that following a decade of rigorous campaigning for participants, the African American Read-Ins would become a traditional part of Black History Month celebrations. The commitment for nationwide promotion extends from 1990 to the present. In 1990, the National Council of Teachers of English joined in the sponsorship of the African American Read-In Chain. Host Responsibilities As a host, you are responsible for hosting an African American Read-In during the month of February and submitting a short report about your event that includes the location, number of attendees, and books featured. You do not need to register in advance. Schools, churches, libraries, bookstores, community and professional organizations, and interested citizens are urged to make literacy a significant part of Black History Month Choose a book a poem, story by an African American author. Read to your children, your grandchildren, step children, share a book with friends. It does not have to be in a large group or a public event It can be as simple as bringing together family and friends in a private setting or as elaborate as arranging public readings and media presentations that feature professional African American writers. 7. By a show of hands who has heard of (1) Stanley Crouch and (2) who has heard of Megan Thee Stallion? Most hand would go up for #2 right? Crouch asked similar questions for a different reasons, but it speaks to the fact that for Black intellectuals are marginalized and raunchy hip-hop artists are elevated and this has become increasingly worse.
  8. Can you cite a source for last point I'd like read it: Sounds like something Tommy Sowell would say.
  9. I think most working class people, of all colors, are ready for a massive change -- that is why 45 was elected and may win a 2nd term. It was why Obama was elected. It is also why Biden/Harris can't afford to take the people they should be appealing to for granted the way Clinton/Kane did.
  10. There are smaller cities, across the country trying to fill the void left by cities like New York, but as soon as they do capitalists come in an screw things up. Austin TX is a good example of this, as is Brooklyn, NY. All the upper middle class white folks went to their country or summer homes, police always do less police work when the people they are most interested in serving leave. Plus crimes always increases during an economic downturn and this one will be longer and deeper than folks are willing to admit, so crime will continue to increase.
  11. I doubt it. Least out it this way. You know how I feel about Candice Owens right? I find Candice more attractive that Kamala. She will not turn out the Black vote the way Obama did in his first term -- you won't even vote for her @Pioneer1 unfortunately you are not alone. And if you won;t vote for her, what incentive do you think white folks will have? Again, none of the robot calls or text messages are touting Harris' accomplishments or plan -- it is all we must defeat Trump. That is not good enough
  12. Yeah, there is a word for that -- hypocrite. They recognized oppression when it suited them as in when they are victims of it. Immediately after forming this nation our founding fathers, and their spawn, embarked on a imperialist rampage that put Great Britain to shame.
  13. NYC has priced artists out. Rents are property values are too high to permit a bookstore to open without it being subsidized somehow. The famed 125th street has the same stores as a suburban strip mall except it is nosier, more crowded, provides poorer service, and is dirtier. The Lenox Lounge to close. After I sold my Brownstone and Brought the place in Florida, I rented an apartment with ex for 7 years. When we moved in the rent was $2,900 for a three bedroom, doorman building, with a patio, 1/2 a block from Central Park. When we moved out the rent was $3,700. It went up $100 a year, every year! And you better not be a minute late or there would be a note on your door threatening eviction. It gave me a completely new perspective on what renters, in NYC go through. I also completely understand why people stay in substandard public housing for generations -- the options are far worse. By the way $3,700 is pretty cheap for NYC for a 3 bedroom apartment. My place was in Spanish Harlem between a public Housing complex and the apartment build where one of the Central Park Five lived. It was the same neighborhood I grew up in -- straight up ghetto. It is gentrifying now and the realtors have dubbed community SoHa (South Harlem). A lot of the apartment in NYC are unoccupied basically investments for the super wealthy. Meanwhile people are sleeping on the subway trains. I got on a subway train during the wee hours during a visit just prior to the pandemic and it was like a flop house -- unbelievable! During the pandemic, upper middle class people are leaving densely populated urban centers, this will probably put downward pressure on property values. Crime in these locations is beginning to escalate. Throw in economic downturn caused by the pandemic, calls to defund the police Black Lives Matter unrest and things do not bode well, for poor and lower middle class people in places NYC.

FAS again I'm familiar with the Black seminoles. Indeed I live in Florida it is not a secret. What I was unfamiliar with was the Maroon community in the Great Dismal Swamp discussed in the article shared. You rejected the article for no apparent reason and keep bringing up Florida Semolies. You suggested the their were scores of books on the subject, but you only produced a 150 year old novel, which I will add to the site. Still nothing you shared would substantiate calling the article "ridiculous."
  15. In Florida ex-felons were permanently stripped of their right to vote. We all voted to eliminate this form is disenfranchisement. Then white guys flipped the script requiring the newly renenfranchised, former felons, to pay full restitution for costs associated with their convictions. Those most effected would be people who would vote to prevent these evil legislators from being elected. Of course the Constitution was written to advance the interests of rich white men. What else us new Sherlock? 😀
  16. Yeah I experienced the surge too. New antiracist book buyer were added to my mailing list, some have bevome repeat customers. The work "moment" was a good word choice.
  17. Sure I'm familiar with her work: https://aalbc.com/authors/author.php?author_name=Suzan-Lori+Parks You miss NYC, Huh?
  18. I got the following text today "Hi, Troy, it's Maria with MoveOn. We have the next seven weeks to finally send the Donald Trump presidency to its rightful place: the ash heap of history! Get your FREE limited-edition 2020 Blue Wave sticker [link removed]." I don't know "Maria" or hiw she got my number, but I've been getting variations of the message for a while. I block all the messages as I never signed up for text messages.... None of the messages explain why I should vote for Biden. I'd preffer some good reasons to go out my way to vote for Biden. Trump will win with this strategy, because people who are not hyoed on Biden are not gonna shelp out to some polling, place during a pandemic, to wait in line to vote "against" Trump. People wsnt to vote FOR something. I see why people like @Pioneer1 don't vote. @Delano you may as well get my $50 together.
  19. I guess it depends upon your definition of freedom. I think, in the context of living in a society with others, it means doing anything you want that does not prevent someone else from doing the same. Standards are distinct from rules. If you think for a second you'll figure out why. Why do you feel this statement makes Del dangerous?

ROTFLMBAF! I heard of Chief Osceola, but never thought if him or any of the Blacks who integrated with Seminole Indians, perhaps they were. I never thiugh of them as such or heard them described that way. FAS, would you share the best 2 or 3 books about the Maroons in the Dreat Dismal Swamp? I'll share them on the website -- thanks!

  22. Ok, I'm fine with that. I'm not so sure. All the cases I'm aware of the women do seem to care -- very much. They work hard and struggle to do what they can for their children. Of course I know there are those who don't care, but I doubt that explains the whole story. Otherwise, they'd have abortions ir out the kids up for adoption.
  23. Free resources are a good way to get started. Overtime, I typically find it is better to pay for some services. I'll iffer feedback on your site shortly @Ann Bray Smith.
