  1. Well the article does not use the word "fact," so be careful. The article addresses the terms "theory" and "proof." You and I both know that some theories like the existence of a multiverse or what existed "before" the big bang are theories that can never be proven, because it would require measuring something outside our own universe. Also, science is not math. In math you can have "proof" and while theoretical physics is largely based upon math (as the article stated) science relies on tests and observations. Theoreticians work closely with experientialists to test theories, which in turn help to understand the nature of the universe -- at lest as far as our limited intelligence will allow.
  2. Quoting directly from the conclusions drawn in the article: "This doesn't mean it's impossible to know anything at all. To the contrary, in many ways, scientific knowledge is the most "real" knowledge that we can possibly gain about the world. But in science, nothing is ever proven beyond a shadow of a doubt." "...Every scientific theory will someday fail, and when it does, that will herald a new era of scientific inquiry and discovery. And of all the scientific theories we've ever come up with, the best ones succeed for the longest amounts of time and over the greatest ranges possible. In some sense, it's better than a proof: it's the most correct description of the physical world humanity has ever imagined." The article yields nothing revelatory. The problem we have today is that publishers craft headlines which are designed to attract attention and are often misleading. They implication here is that scientific proof, a "myth," has no valve. What did you take away from the article @Delano? Oops I forgot you are remaining neutral
  3. I assume @Delano you meant, "...some men have a higher level of emotional intelligence and empathy than the average woman." @Pioneer1 was just playing with you Del; he knows you are trolling this forum for babes.
  4. Makes sense. In my current situation, we've decided to opt for honestly. It makes for some difficult conversations, but we are better off afterwards. This does however require trust and love -- usually not easy to find in another person. The goal is not always agreement, sometimes it is just understanding
  5. @Delano I understood what you wrote. All I'm saying is that expressing what you think is more interesting (to me at least) than remaining on the fence and quoting others. That said rhetorical questions do reveal something about the person posing the question.
  6. Sure it is @Delano, either you believe it or you don't. But if you don't want to say that is fine. Also, it is YOUR reasoning which is far more interesting.
  7. Well the word "genius" was on the screen the whole time and I kept thinking, this is what genius is now? I presume the two are well known rap artists. Is that right? @Pioneer1 they present far weaker than their words. But they are both "Lil," so this seems reasonable.
  8. Thank you. Point "a" seems to be true. I have not witnessed "b," but you probably have more experience with other forums.
  9. No need to tag me Del. A simple yes or no would suffice.
  10. That is just it @Delano you have no problem shooting down what the guys on this forum say, but never reveal what you actually think. You don't answer questions but instead obfuscate with incongruous follow up's. Your belief (or not) in the virgin birth or Christ or the or the asexual production of a male child from a female does matter. Are you really being supportive of @Chevdove by not revealing what you actually believe? Just because I disagree with Chevdove on this issue and the commingling of science and Christianity in general, does not mean I don't support her. In fact, I submit I'm more supportive of her because she knows my position and I'm willing to hear hers. You are confusing patronization with being supportive. No one knows what you think Del. Do you believe in the virgin birth or Christ or not?
  11. Still won't answer a question direct question huh @Delano?
  12. @Pioneer1 Well 18 might be too young for some and others can deal with it at an even younger age. I do however think, as a culture, we do a pretty poor job of educating young people about sex -- on every level. We send mixed and contradictory signals to young people and many are harmed as a result; by contracting serious STD's, having unwanted pregnancies, or just having a crappy experience because one or both partners have not idea how to please each other. I guess by the time someone is 18 they are old enough to begin to figure it out on there own which I suspect most of us have to do...
  13. @Delano in the real world do you also avoid answering questions or answer questions with a question?
  14. For reasons previously stated this is impossible to answer. What was your GMAT score? Was it higher than average? If so, maybe is was higher than the average score of a woman, making you more intelligent at taking standardized tests. Why do you ask the question @Delano?
  15. OK @Mel Hopkins you had me concerned Because i passed HS biology, the same class you took. Now Mel, tell me has any woman given birth to a male asexually? You know men have a Y chromosome. Women do not. @Chevdove i cherry picked that Einstein quote to make a point. The point is we see what we want to see. Both regious people and atheists claim Einstein as one if their iwn. If Einstein took the Words in the bible literaraly he'd have no reason to understand the nature of the universe. If it is not obvious already i do not take the words in the Bible literally. There are people who belive the world is 6K years old and claim to have scientific proof for it. But these are not scientific arguments. I question one's understanding of science who claims that they are. In any event, it is pointless to argue about the Bible with people who take it literally, so I'll stop. @Delano you've been throwing around quotes with reckless abandon. What you YOU believe. Do you also believe the virgin mary gave birth to Jesus the Christ?
  16. Whoa!? "Ignore Troy" Sheesh @Mel Hopkins we can get to the point of disagreement, even strong disagreement, but when we stop listening to others that is bad. When we close our minds to opposing points of view that is the beginning of intolerance and is where learning stops. I would not stop listening to @Chevdove or you for thst matter. Nor would i ever stop someone from continuing to seeking knowledge the implication that i would do that is so far from true it is ridiculous. Now if you believe all of the miracles of Jesus that is up to you, but you wont find any evidence of women giving birth to babies without semen. Of course if you have an example (besides Sweet Baby Jesus) I'd be happy to read about it. @Delano's advice of listening to you own voice above all is far more apropos and what i believe.
  17. I'm glad you recognize this.
  18. Hi @Chevdove I actually read what you wrote and as you well know humans are not an insect, plant or reptile. We reproduce by fertilizing an egg with a spermatozoon. As a result we are not capable of reproducing parthenogenetically. Essentially what you wrote is that some animals reproduce asexually, it is written in the bible, and anything is possible. There is nothing in what you wrote to suggest that this is possible.
  19. @Cynique Del's deleted post may have been a mistake on my part. Lately Del has made posts multiple times. Yesterday there were 4 of the same posts scattered all over the place. In my attempt to clean up the duplicates i may have gone too far (@Delano if that is the case sorry about that). better to look it up than wonder what is going on. Your sister does indeed sound smart and she is right.
  20. I agree. Some peoplec are ready earlier and others are ready much later. Sex at 18 is more recteational than expression of love. 30 is still quite young I know a woman who a Had her first child at 50. She has two children now. I know several other women who got started after 40. But you know better than I @Chevdove. What age would you recommend? My thinking also factors in having a mate selected, which means if you wanna start pushing babies out at 30 you need to be in a committed relationship by 28, 29.
  21. A bit extreme, because many Black people do read. However, I would concede most don't. But this is true of ALL people. People are informed, but they are, in my opinion, are informed about things that don't matter very much. Again, this is not just limited to Black people. Our problem is that we, with a few hundred years of oppression in America, can't afford to be so uninformed. We really do need to work twice as hard just to catch up. My laptop crashed today, I've spent hours trying to get it to boot and im tired...
  22. @Delano you are running off the rails man. Do you even know what I think about Elijah Muhammed? If so please tell me, for I'd like to know.
  23. Finally someone with a sense of humor and reading comprehension above the 3rd grade. @Delano now that some women explained why you question was problematic i guess now you get it
  24. Please spare me. What have you done to defend their honor? More recently are you defending the honor of Cosby's victim? Are protesting, marching in the street adovacting for stronger legislation, what? Tell me what are you doing besides trying make it seem like other Bkack men don't defend Black women. I raised two Black women to independence who were loved and protected their entire lives. Have you? Please tell me what you doing besides judging and accusing other Black men.
  25. No i have that covered google james baldwin (you dont get on page #1 by accident) That is your false impression. Because i dont accept your reporting (the same person who asserts MLK was gay without evidence) and refuse to reject the entire Nation if Islam you call that rationalizing. The reality is that i refuse to pass judgement on a incident i know virtually nothing about.
