Feminist voices speak out when women are treated unfairly or denied equal access.  It's very possible that no woman wanted the job of being NAACP president so a male was appointed to the position which requires a lot of fund raising.  This organization has lost so much power and effectiveness that being head of it is no longer considered a prestigious job.

The NAACP since its founding, however, has always been criticized for being male dominated.  Historically black women are so desperate for black men to step up and be leaders, that they often defer to anyone who shows this potential.  Black women have always been very supportive of President OBama.  They might not be as enthusiastic in their support if Hillary Clinton runs.

The NAACP would undoubtedly appoint a women for its president before they'd give the nod to a gay man.

It has nothing to do with a war on women, it's nature.

Men (many....not all) tend to be natural leaders because of testosterone and the assertiveness it produces.

Testosterone tends to make one more assertive, more aggressive, and more confident....all prerequisits for adequate leadership.
Men have more of this than women and it's a natural fact.

The female Editor in Chief of The New York Times just got fired for being too aggressive and abrasive. She was replaced by a male who was more adept in people skills, which is a euphemism for saying he was an easy to get along with wimp.  It's a stereotypical generalization to say that men make better leaders than women.  Good leadership is not synonymous with being aggressive. It's more about intelligence and character and temperment.

Men have varying degrees of testosterone. There are a lot of male pussy footers out there, not to mention a plurality of bold women. Let's hear it for estrogen!

Just look to the animal kingdom  for signs of  female prowess.  Among the big cats, lions in particular, the female is the hunter. In many species, the females scourage for food while the male loiters around. Some males even sit on the eggs while their mates go out and fend for the family.

Pioneer while it is true men have more testosterone which does lead to being more aggressive, I'm not sure that makse a better leader.  Historically women have been known to make great leaders and many men have been know to be horrible leaders.

There are also different kinds of leaders.  A great leader in the boardroom may make a terrible leader on the battle field.

One thing we can probably agree on is that there are differences between men an women.  Our culture often wants to make believe women are simply men without penises.  This thinking does not benefit either sex.

This does not mean we should we should treat women like 2nd class citizens or pay them less for doing the same type of work.   We should however better understand the differences and make the most of them.

Good people skills don't necessarily translate to being a wimp.
A person with good marketing skills and customer service skills knows people enough to know WHEN to be aggressive and when to be passive.

From what I've seen, the problem with SOME women who try to be aggressive is that they don't know when or how to be aggressive in an effective way. Especially when dealing with the opposite sex in a business setting.

Ofcourse the men they're dealing with will often be sexist or prejudiced in other ways towards the woman they're dealing with but still men often know how to relate to eachother...even in aggression....in a way that the average woman doesn't.
Too often women will try to do something they THINK a man would do or respond in a way they THINK a man would respond and wonder why the reaction is so negative and unwelcomed. It's not always because she's a woman but because she was aggressive in the wrong way at the wrong time.
Often time female police officers are guilty of this.

More to the point Troy made, at the end of the day, people are better in their own skin instead of trying to be something or someone they aren't.
If you aren't naturally aggressive.....you shouldn't try to be.
Most women AREN'T naturally aggresive (except when defending their children) and they shouldn't force themselves to be for work or sports or anything else. Sometimes being gentle and nuturing is the most appropriate approach to a situation.

Aggression doesn't have a gender.  If a female is overbearing and comes on strong, there's no consistent evidence that she is doing this because she's emulating a male. She may very well be doing it because this is her true nature.

Of course, there are women who adopt aggressive behavior - just as there are men who do this.  Yes, aggression in women, whether it  is genuine or adopted, can fail to impress men.  But - it never seems to occur to you, Pioneer, that aggressive men can, likewise, fail to impress women!  Yes, tact is a necessary ingredient in effective aggression. But neither sex has a monopoly on the trait of tact..

Although I don't necessarily disagree with what you've said....
I don't agree with the SLANT you've apparently put it to make your point.

You seem to like focusing on exceptions while ignorning the rule.

It is known all over the world since the beginning of humanity that men TEND to be more aggressive than women. It doesn't mean EVERY man is more aggressive than every woman.
Some men can't grow facial hair while there are some women walking around with full beards. But that's not typical and that's not the general rule of nature.
So while neither gender/sex has a monopoly on aggressiveness, generally speaking men are more aggressive than women both physically and even mentally.

You always speak in generalities, Pioneer, with particular emphasis on the past.

I always challenge you on this issue because implicit in the slant of all of your arguments is the idea that men are better equipped to be in charge while the natural role of females is to be at the behest of males.

Society is governed by generalities, not exceptions and special cases.

Almost everywhere you go on this planet, regardless of the nation or race you find MEN in charge and women in the supporting role.

One of the few exceptions to this rule is the AfroAmerican community in the United States.
And I strongly suspect the only reason this is an exception is because most Black communities in the United States are controled from OUTSIDE of the community.

The "underground" economies of the Black community...where most of the laws don't apply...are still very much controled by Black men.

Some women make very good leaders and some men make very poor leaders.
Infact, MOST PEOPLE regardless of gender make poor leaders as nature has provided for only a few to lead and the majority to follow.
But again....society is governed by generalities and not exceptions to the rule.
Generally speaking men are better equipped at leading.

Society is too diverse and full of variables to say it is ruled by generalities, - too murky to distinguish the exceptions from the rules, Pioneer. Tradition is more what cast men in leadership roles, not superior ability.   And male leadership status has a great deal to do with women choosing to let men think they are leading.  Many a man owes his figurehead position of leadership to the strong female mate who stands behind him, dispensing advice,  sharing the power.

The female CEO of General Motors just recently had to come behind the incompetent men in charge and clean up the mess they made by bungling the recall of defective cars, a balliwek that men should've had expertise in.

The terrible shape the world is in is a blatant testament to the ineffectiveness of ego-centric male rule.

Bottom line: Be they male or female, whoever is charismatic and brilliant enough to acquire a following, is a leader.
