  1. I say but i do not proclaim, to the blare of trumpets, that there are 3 positive things one can do to give one a better start in becoming upwardly mobile. That's all I am saying, and i stick by it. All the extenuating circumstance you guys dredge up are valid, but they do not invalidate a formula which has worked for many people. And I still say, that just because black people of a certain class may be more expedient than moral, they do know right from wrong. Their impulsiveness may determine their actions but upon reflection they know what gets them in trouble Pioneer threw shade on the younger generation by making fun of their forms and methods of expression, and I reminded him that he is not perfect, himself. Young people would find him obsolete. As a member of a dying generation. i would agree that Society has dumbed things down. Kids nowadays do tend to be one-dimensional, not having a broad scope of knowledge and thinking that anything which happened before they were born is unimportant. They are adept at computer skill sets, but lacking in practical applications. Having said that, one thing I have observed from frequentlng FaceBook is that the average black adult does not have a great command of the English language; and Ebonics and careless speech are firmly entrenched in their self expression. Just an observation. But they are also sympathetic and forgiving and endowed with insight and mother wit. Times are changing and people are evolving. That's to be expected. The LGBQ community is not going to disappear. IMO
  2. WHAT?! Negro, you have the nerve to accuse someone else of creating strawman arguments. You are the strawman master! Dude you wrote: "Heterosexual Black men of ALL classes tend to like women with big butts and wide hips." This is a very different statement than your second version: "It's been my experience and observation that MOST Black men like women with wide hips and big butts." Do you understand the difference? The first is a declaration that would require support to substantiate, as it can be easily refuted. The second statement is based upon your observations which I'd never question, unless I though you were being disingenuous or lying. Your strawman argument is stating that I disputed the 2nd statement, which was not the statement you originally made. Do you understand?
  3. There's too many more interesting thIngs to discuss than Mzuri and Pioneer. So I'm done. You're Welcome, CYNIQUE
  4. As much time as I spend soaking in the tub my behind is hardly funky. But that was a nice try at another tired putdown. I am hardly in a shack. And I don't like to be fingered, I like actual D, something which you have clearly forgotten all about. Sourpuss.
  5. Valiant attempt but that tactic never works.
  6. Nor does what you consider edible..........according to rumors, lol.
  7. 🙄 🧐 Mr. Neptune?
  8. @Cyniqueyour generosity knows no bounds.
  9. ************************************************************************************ @Cynique If you thought starting a thread about a bunch of nothing was doing anyone a favor, you were mistaking. All you were doing is seeking attention and stirring up mess. There was no insult fest since I hardly insulted you. You take everything too serious and make mountains out of molehills. Forum decorum is that when you decide to leave, you just leave. Most forums don't permit posts from people posting their long drawn out good-byes. If there are more interesting topics than me and @Pioneer1 then go discuss those. There are tons of current topics that you could have posted about. Stating we aren't interesting is counter-productive. Nobody thinks you are pouting or sulking, just crying all over your poor cat, who is probably sick of your drama. Hopefully you are feeding it gourmet cat food to make up for it, not those dried up kibbles that come in a bag. That wasn't a hissy fit at all and I never accused you of having a thing for Pioneer, although you did inquire as to his whereabouts yesterday, so what was that about? You do know that everybody can't just post on forums all day, right? You are deluded to state that I am using Pioneer to make @Troy jealous. That is absurd. As far as they know I am a married woman. I am curious to know what sort of a fuzzy brain would even think of that scenario going on, on a discussion forum where we hardly know each other. Give me a break. Get some smelling salts and stop inhaling all that cat hair, you have the worst case of brain fog that I've ever seen. ************************************************************************************
  10. @Mzuri, obviously, we don't know each other from a can of paint and I'm new around here but as I mentioned, I enjoy everyone's contribution to the discussion. Regardles of our views and opinions, it's all about the dialog, jokes and laughter too. 😎
  11. @Pioneer1 These days, a serious business owner needs a combination of both. A hybrid, because people are searching and researching things online before they make their actual purchases. The last time we bought a house, we researched online for a couple of months before we agreed on the house we wanted to buy. And then we came to see it in person and purchased it. If it hadn't been listed online, we probably wouldn't have found this house. That's just an example but more people are making their buying decisions based on what is online. Restaurants need an online presence because people want to see what's on the menu before they go in person. Especially now during pandemic. And most need some type of online ordering system, to schedule deliveries, accept payments, etc. All those types of businesses require an online presence.
  12. Troy Your INSERTION of the word "all" in my statements is what turned them into your strawmen to target. "You said ALL Black men like big butts! Yes you did....YES YOU DID. You MUST say this in order for me to win the argument!" Dude you wrote: "Heterosexual Black men of ALL classes tend to like women with big butts and wide hips." Which is a TRUE statement! Rich, poor, or in between....you will find Black men who tend to like women with big butts and wide hips! It's not the ONLY thing they like. Hell....some like OTHER MEN. But what do MOST of them like? Now if you're saying I'm wrong..... Then what you're saying is: There are SOME CLASSES in which none of the heterosexual Black men IN those classes find women with big butts and wide hips attractive. That's LITERALLY what you're saying by disagreeing with my statement. And if that's what you believe, then WHICH CLASS would that be? Do you understand the difference? The first is a declaration that would require support to substantiate, as it can be easily refuted. Then refute it....with proof or empirical evidence please. Your strawman argument is stating that I disputed the 2nd statement, which was not the statement you originally made. If you dispute the FIRST one...you're still in error. In my opinion.... Unless you can prove otherwise. Do you understand? Yes, I understand the problem quite well. I think both you AND Cynique need to enroll in classes together this semester...lol She can take a class in Behavioral Therapy. You can take a class in Logic. ....lol
  13. Facts. Everything we were taught is different now. Double negatives are OK. Now, ain't is in the dictionary as a contraction for am not, are not and is not. Cursive handwriting is no longer taught in schools. Young folks learn how to print and that's it. That's probably because they will end typing (smartphones and computers) more than writing. No need for a signature as checks and money orders are going out of style and forms have been digitized. Everything can be paid for by a card or scan app and signed electronically or scribbled. There is definitely a school to prison pipeline which includes a conection to the police department. Reminds me of speed traps and traffic cameras. Anything to criminalize folks and/or make money when they break and/or don't follow the rules.😎
  14. College tuition is through the roof. Being able to afford it is one way to get a pass. Athletics is the other route. Either way, it's not very hard for folks who do not read and/or write well to graduate with a degree. Over the course of my career, it never ceases to amaze me that so many educated folks write so poorly. It's not a matter of color either. IMO, intelligence is no longer a valued commodity in our society. The dumbing down and acceptance of mediocrity is on full display every day. 😎
  15. @Pioneer: I need another favor - and so does Mzuri. Give her the finger again 🖕🏽 1,2,3, GO!
  16. Sheeeyit..... If she ain't got nothing better to do she can take her ass back up to her old job at the post office and start braiding some hair again...lol. "Girl hold still.....shit!"
  17. Spike Lee directed and Roger G. Smith did great job in A Huey P. Newton Story: https://www.pbs.org/hueypnewton/ It's definitely worth watching. 😎
  18. @Cynique There's a few people on here with typos including you, me, and Troy. This does not invalidate a person's comments and pointing out typos is crass. @Pioneer1 I heard there were people graduating from college that are illiterate. How can you get through college when you can't even read and write? BTW, where were you today? Cynique was asking about you. I think she might have been jonesing.
  19. @Troy, I was going to ask if it was possible to migrate the posts that have nothing to do with General Powell over to a new thread. Good stuff for debate but it has digressed bigly. 😁😎
  20. Chev Ok, I'm sorry Chev....❤️....I removed some of the more lighthearted posts! Some of you work seems extraordinarily complicated to understand. I'm still trying to figure out how you came to the conclusion that Jesus was allegedly crucified on Thursday when the Bible doesn't see this.
  21. To a point, as the situation becomes more dire people begin to turn on each other. This is the thing the country needs to concern itself with. @Cynique the question is will Pioneer receive the comment as a perfectly valid critique, or become defensive, reject the idea completely, and continue believing all Black men like big butts 😉
  22. @chevdove, as mentioned previously, I do admire the effort and scholarship you put into your research. Accordingly, I will refrain from polluting your threads with any attempts of humor. Take it easy my sista.😎
