  1. I have to raise a Black Power fist to @Lee Vining for hipping me to ex-enslaved Black folks who left the South to settle in Colorado and formed entire communities! I had no idea of this! I knew we left the Soutn and went west to places like California, Texas and Arizona but cold ass Colorado? Man...I come to find out Black folks ran up into them mountains and TORE THEM UP looking for gold. This is one of the reasons I call myself the "Pioneer". Because I look at those early Black Pioneers who decided to get the hell out of the old corrupt system, travel to a NEW land, and establish their OWN communities as my role models! This is so inspiring to me, including this story about Clara Brown who I just happened to read an article on while researching my newly found interest: Clara Brown From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Clara Brown Clara Brown (c. 1800–1885) was a former enslaved woman from Virginia and Kentucky who became a community leader, philanthropist and aided settlement of former slaves during the time of Colorado's Gold Rush. She was known as the 'Angel of the Rockies' and made her mark as Colorado's first black settler and a prosperous entrepreneur.[1] Brown was born in Virginia in 1800[2] and moved to Logan County, Kentucky, with her family.[3] She married another enslaved person when she was 18 and together they had four children. In 1835, Brown's family was broken apart when they were all sold to different slave owners. When Brown was 56, she received her freedom but was required by law to leave the state. She worked her way west as a cook and laundress to Denver, Colorado. Brown settled in the mining town now called Central City, Colorado where she worked as a laundress, cook, and midwife. With the money she made, she invested in properties and mines in nearby towns. Known as "Aunt Clara" for her emotional and financial support, Brown was a founding member of a Sunday school, made her home available for prayer services and generously supported the community. At the end of the Civil War, Brown could freely travel and liquidated all of her investments to travel to Kentucky to find her daughter. Although she was unsuccessful, she paid the way for 16 or more relatives and others who were former slaves to move to Colorado. Finally, in 1882 she reunited with her daughter Eliza Jane and Eliza Jane's daughter. In 1885, the last year of her life, Clara Brown was voted into the Society of Colorado Pioneers for her role in Colorado's early history.
  2. At age 10 my daughter had a school report to do based on a famous person. She likes to be different, try and be original. She decided on Hattie McDaniel. Not much material available at the time. This before the internet. Daughter ask the librarian and the Librarian came through and ordered a book, McDaniels biography. Traveling through Colorado we visited sites where McDaniel grew up. A brutal weather conditions area settled by freed slaves. That's a story in itself. The report a success. Another subject considered was Spencer Williams. Actor that played Andy in the controversial Amos and Andy TV series. One of the most financially successful actors to ever work in Hollywood, yet probably one of the most forgotten. My mom worked for Disney and for a while Disney made Instructional movies for governments. Disney's work was animated. Williams had a instructional film production company that did the same, but with live action actors. That's how my mom and he's paths crossed and they became friends. Williams also owned commercial income property and other successful businesses. Me growing up in, working in and married into Hollywood show business I observed one thing. Anyone that's a good actor, is good at anything they do in life. That's just my observations from my experiences. Another subject could be stolen Black composed music. Scott Joplin spent his life trying to protect his copyrights. One infringer is said to be Irving Berlin. Marvin Hamlisch tried the same stunt but was called out early and reset his credits fast. Bob Wills mega hit "Steel Guitar Rag" also stolen note for note from Sylvester Weaver who fought it in court. Oh brother is that ever disputed. Hold each sheet music together up to the light and it's identical music. Just a few ideas above if your loved ones ever are considering a school report.
  3. BTW: My daughter went on to get her PhD in math and has a minor in wardrobe and costume. That is a thread all in itself too. Daughter worked for awhile at Disney and Disney studios in Wardrobe. Most complicated work they do is for Tiannas Gowns (Prince and the Frog). The one Disney Princess that has several different gowns. Lots of work keeping them dialed in the daughter once said. They have to look 100%/100% of the time. My Disney studio mom worked on the Tiana character design decades ago and styled her after Zola Taylor (Platters), the most beautiful women in a gown of all time. Strikingly gorgeous.
  4. As we know, Civil Rights Attorney Ben Crump has been putting in work for a while now. Last week, he won an NAACP award. His acceptance speech is here: The quotable at the 5:30 mark for which he might be remembered is, "we have to be prepared to fight for our children's future until h8ll freezes over. And then, we have to be ready to fight on the ice."🤣 I have clowned brotha Ben Crump for his public speaking. But, I also give credit when it's due. Ben Crump went hard in the paint at the NAACP awards and delivered. 😎
  5. Man......the plot continues to thicken, lol. She was born in 1893 to a man who fought 30 years ago in the Civil War? I wonder how old was her father when she was born? Now I'm hearing about the 122nd U.S. Colored Troops! I heard of the 54th Regiment but now I find out about another group of Black soldiers! And before that, I hear about a colony established in Colorado by ex-slaves! Damn! What else are they hiding from us?
  6. Flavor Flav is the exception. I don't think he's waving a bag of money around either. But, women seem to love that dude.🤣😎
  7. One day in my early youth when I still believed in Jesus, I had a dream about him. I dreamed that he was a Black man and that he came down to Earth to take some of us back with him. We were all on some sort of craft going up and up and then the Black Jesus looked at us......AND ASKED US FOR GAS MONEY!!!!! No lie....I actually dreamed that....🤣 If you read the Bible, according to it Jesus constantly spoke of the CHRIST coming. But he didn't call himself the Christ. He said the Christ will come and do this and do that. If I remember correctly, he didn't refer to himself as Christ OR the Son of Man. Infact, in one scripture he said many will come in his name saying that HE is Christ and will deceive many.
  8. Very interesting breakdown on the freedoms or lack thereof on the internet! I know there is no such thing as freedom of speech, no matter where you are your words have consequences. But some nations are less restrictive than others.
  9. A story that I'd love to read or hear! This is the first time I heard a community in Colorado was founded by freed men and women! What they must have endured........ I'm glad your 10 year old daughters school report was a success! 👏👏
  10. @Chevdove my pleasure if I helped. owned by a company called https://www.bytedance.com/ but they are chinese and privately owned. yes, Tik Tok is the usa version of what bytedance first created in china, a short video platform. Yes, tiktok realized what twitter did, people in modernity actually love to post short messages, not long ones, in all formats. The engineering challenge is allowing for a seemingly seamless short video collection. it requires a lot of computers and storage houses to make this work globally. Well, functionally their is no functional difference between any online media platform, twitter/youtube/tiktok/facebook all have the same goal, to get more users to use their platform. The only difference is in identity, all the major social media platforms are based in the usa , except for tiktok. In terms of attracting users, the question is the tactic they use. Twitter goes for short post, which focus on sensationalism and thus sharing. Youtube likes long videos where you can share films/documentaries, long media content. Facebook wants to be a place for it all. tiktok is short videos, sensationalism based. The internet isn't a lot, really. You may be surprised what isn't being done because little is financially profitable. The internet itself needed militaristic power, the natural resources for the underwater cable lines, the various personal devices, the data storage and server hubs all around earth to give the illusion of instant connection, came from countries that are known to be manipulated or exploited by outsiders since the 1800s . I think, I can be wrong, the source of the overwhelm is the advertising usage of the internet. It is the biggest commercial break you ever saw.
  11. @Pioneer1 My quick answer yes, some day, at least that is the prophecy of the Second Coming. But now, how soon? I wish I could understand the scriptures better to provide the correct answer. But then another way to think about this would be to understand the difference in America's Jesus versus the Biblical Jesus. The American Jesus was born on December 25 and died during the Springtime, and he simply doesn't exist. He's an idol that was invented for population control and White Domination. The Biblical Jesus was born on April 17 and died on October 16 and then rose again on October 19. He is based on historical records and witnessed to have really existed. The Scriptures based his presence on astronomy too and that is why this topic is important to understand. But does it mean that Jesus is coming real soon, again, I don't know enough to answer that. From what I can tell, and based on scripture, there are some other phenomena that is going to happen first such as a volcanic winter, another star occultation, wars, etc. and then the time of tribulation sparked by some type of natural phenomena. Personally, I wish that he would have come back yesterday. But @Pioneer1let me ask you, what do you think? I think that, just as Minister Louis Farrakhan said, the reality of Jesus has been extremely exploited so that Black people will lose hope and place all our trust in what mankind can do to overthrow White Supremacy. Me, I beleive that it will take help from the Supreme Being. I think that Black people should work smarter not harder. And to push my point, I am posing this crazy video of a Tony Baker Voice over. If Jesus did come to help overthrow Satanism, then why not give him a chance to do his job. Some Black people at least understand now, after thousands of years that racism and White Supremacy is a reality but now, work hard to try to combat it without believing that the within the ancient scriptures this issue was dealt with! Why not look at the ancient scriptures to see where deception set it. We need to correct lies placed in our ancient script in the past. Jesus told us what we need to do. He said that 'our righteousness MUST EXCEED the reighteousness of the scribes and pharisees or we will in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven. Thant means that the ancient scriptures have been mis-interpreted; blasphemed. All of America worship the American Jesus born on December 25, even the Black Churches. That American Jesus is totally different from the Biblical Jesus born on April 17 under the star of Bethlehem. Black Christians will become enraged if you even try to tell them that it does matter. The Biblical Jesus was marked with astronomical precision of when he came during the First Coming to deflect deception. So likewise, we should regard astronomy in terms of dating events to try to understand the prophecy of the Second Coming. But, I am limited here, in my complete understanding. Nevertheless, I believe that Black people need to work smarter not harder, or else we will be servants forever. We should back up certain beliefs with proven facts stop trying to re-invent the wheel so-to-speak. If it has been said that White Supremacy was already defeated by the Biblical Jesus then we should go back and try to understand how instead of trying to do it all by ourselves today.
  12. @Pioneer1 Obviously he's not coming back for you! LOL. No. I am not being serious at all, here. Hopefully, the Biblical Jesus will come back soon for me and for you. But on a more serious note, for the 50,000 people who are now dead in Turkey as a result of an earthquake, and for the survivors, it may seem like an apocalyptic existence for them now. Many people do not believe that certain star phenomena can affect our planet, such as comets, but scientist know this is true, yet this sort of knowledge is not taught. THAT GREEN COMET did not move into our solar system after over thousands of years for nothing! When it came, it left behind a third of its tail and I think scientist know where these meteors are located that have come from that comet and they know much more than they are sharing about other comets as well. Craziness @ProfD. You are very brave! lol.
  13. Younger, testosterone-filled men usually try their hand at older women mainly for s8x, food and money. They're adding a notch to their conquest belt. Also, younger men don't want to deal with the 1) competition and 2) drama and 3) pregnancies that come with dating among their peers. Conversely, older women like to think they're still attractive and full of vigor. While older women are hitting their stride s8xually, the men in their age group are running out of gas on several levels. Yet, only a very small percentage of older women dating younger men will last for any length of time since they don't have too much in common. A younger man isn't going to want t deal with an older woman's mentality and ailments. Especially if she starts reminding him of his mother. On the flip side, an older woman won't be able to keep up with a younger man's energy and physical desires for a long period of time. More than likely, a younger man won't be able to provide an older woman with emotional stability and financial security. In a flash, it's a fun adventure for both older women and younger men. Like an amusement park ride. 😎
  14. Ben Crump The Family Man He's got a beautiful wife. I think I read somewhere he practices law too. Another Barack and Michelle deal......Black power couple.
  15. @KENNETH often this argument is simplified into a this or that scenario. There are large groups of Black people who are socially conservative. There are large numbers of Black people who are fiscally conservative. Black people can be in both of the above groups and vehemently reject the Republican party, which never made sense to me. Black people are all over the spectrum when it comes to assessing what is most responsible for our collective and individual successes and failures. If you have the three things below, you will generally succeed in this country: Ability; Drive; and Lucky You really need all three to succeed. That "trifecta" of conditions can be both elusive and fleeting. The legacy of slavery and Jim Crow has diminished our ability obtain some of the lucky breaks white folks enjoy. This of course affects our drive and even our ability. Both of my grandfathers were illiterate. I know other Black people my age whose grandfathers graduated from college. Who do you think benefited more from inherited wealth, educational opportunities, and less familial dysfunction? Who would be more inclined to claim hard work is the way to succeed? I'm one of those people who blame both the legacy of racism and our own behavior for both our individual and collective predicaments. I also believe much of our dysfunctional is a direct consequence of living in a historically white racist country.
