  1. The issue is the locus of power. With a republic it rest with the Public. The elected officials are representatives and not rulers. I use the Oxford English Dictionary.
  2. You said to me Pioneer isn't an abstract thinker. Experience changes his mind not ideas. Hmm i like to think i challenge Troy but maybe taunting is more effective.
  3. @Troy it is becoming increasingly clear that your ability to coherently discuss an issue it s deteriorating. It seems i need a third person to translate English to you.
  4. People need meaning in their life and they want to be part of something bigger than themselves. Apple isnt selling computers they are selling membership into a club comprised of artistic altruistic thinkers. Apple consumers worship Steve Jobs like a rock star. And just likea a rock concert. They camp out to consume the latest offerings. The product is sold but it is the perception of image and community that is consumed. This applies to following products : Religion; soda; music ; restaurants, universities ; clothing ; sexual identity ; sports ; weight lifting; race et cetera. Identity is a chimera it means what we believe it means. (it is like race a subjective construct) So purchasing products helps to create and sustain identity. When was the last time you drank OE 800?
  5. Still think he will finish his term?
  6. Actually my comment infers the opposite. Troy is the most willing to change his mind
  7. Trying to convince anyone to question their assumptions.
  8. Troy Can you answer the question @Troy
  9. Troy you may have to develop a new style of arguing that has some basis in listening and or comprehension.
  10. This is the point where it is pointless for me..
  11. Definition of republic in English: republic NOUN 1A state in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives, and which has an elected or nominated president rather than a monarch. Example sentences 1.1archaic A group with a certain equality between its members. ‘the community of scholars and the republic of learning’ Origin Late 16th century: from French république, from Latin respublica, from res ‘entity, concern’ + publicus ‘of the people, public’. Ruling and representing are not the same. The translation of Re Public is public thing.
  12. Troy was Colin position ineffectual. You said he accomplished nothing some months ago. Do you still feel the same.
  13. Hey Troy Al Gore's swimming pool is heated. My carbon footprint is tiny. So whike Gore is chartering planes I takr public transport and ride a bike. So who is the real problem. People like me or people like Gore?
  14. Check out the Woodward Trump transcript. https://edition.cnn.com/2018/09/05/politics/donald-trump-bob-woodward-fear/index.html
  15. A Republic is in essence opposite to an oligarchy. So while yiur definition of oligarchy is acceptable. Your usage if the word T Republic ic is not. Correct usage doesn't require a college degree. However rationalising your error by exporting it isn't sensible. A Republic implies indirect rule by the people.
  16. Troy your initial position was that his stance would have no effect. Do you still believe this or do you have amnesia?
  17. @Troy Troy unlike yourself some people want to have both sides of the climate debate before they make a decision. Also even if you have decided an issue, the site is informative. And is used as a teaching tool at schools all over the world up through the university level. Luckily your myopic view isn't shared by educators. It is a well put together site. Which would be obvious even to you. If you had bothered to read one pro and one con. Here is a concept debate climate, but clean up the environment. Thats my position an unlike your hero Al Gore I don't have a heated pool. I like to believe you are not a fool, but being fooled. I think simply and follow the money. Trump becoming President. Trump being impeached. Bill Cosby guilty. You disagreed with me and in the end you changed your mind because of the evidence. So either i am delusional, a good guesser or something else. Time and $50 will tell.
  18. Then why ask about procon.org?
  19. A republic is the opposite of an oligarchy. A plutocracy ned not hire a wealthy person.
  20. Troy it's pro and con. Read the about section. Make an informed statement. I have read it. So after yiu read it then we can discuss it. Alleviate your ignorance first before making unfounded disparaging comments, Brother. @Troy Troy read the about section and then print a retraction.
  21. We are at the half way mark. Hearing yiu say I'm astrological gangster will be priceless to me but $50 from you. @Troy

  23. Troy check for yourself and make up your own mind whether they are credible. That's exactly my position. Make up your own mind based on the information and knowledge you have. The following is the transcript of a conversation with The Bob Woodward and President Trump. https://edition.cnn.com/2018/09/04/politics/trump-woodward-transcript/index.html
