... low ability people do not possess the skills needed to recognize their own incompetence. Or being possessed by invincible ignorance.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is a type of cognitive bias in which people believe that they are smarter and more capable than they really are. Essentially, low ability people do not possess the skills needed to recognize their own incompetence. The combination of poor self-awareness and low cognitive ability leads them to overestimate their own capabilities.1 The term lends a scientific name and explanation to a problem that many people immediately recognize—that fools are blind to their own foolishness. As Charles Darwin wrote in his book The Descent of Man, "Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge." https://www.verywellmind.com/an-overview-of-the-dunning-kruger-effect-4160740 Incompetent people, the researchers found, are not only poor performers, they are also unable to accurately assess and recognize the quality of their own work. This is the reason why students who earn failing scores on exams sometimes feel that they deserved a much higher score. They overestimate their own knowledge and ability and are incapable of seeing the poorness of their performance. Low performers are unable to recognize the skill and competence levels of other people, which is part of the reason why they consistently view themselves as better, more capable, and more knowledgeable than others. "In many cases, incompetence does not leave people disoriented, perplexed, or cautious," wrote David Dunning in an article for Pacific Standard. "Instead, the incompetent are often blessed with an inappropriate confidence, buoyed by something that feels to them like knowledge." This effect can have a profound impact on what people believe, the decisions they make, and the actions they take. In one study, Dunning and Ehrlinger found that women performed equally to men on a science quiz, and yet women underestimated their performance because they believed they had less scientific reasoning ability than men. The researchers also found that as a result of this belief, these women were more likely to refuse to enter a science competition.3 Causes of the Dunning-Kruger Effect So what explains this psychological effect? Are some people simply too dense, to be blunt, to know how dim-witted they are? Dunning and Kruger suggest that this phenomenon stems from what they refer to as a "dual burden." People are not only incompetent; their incompetence robs them of the mental ability to realize just how inept they are. Incompetent people tend to: Overestimate their own skill levels Fail to recognize the genuine skill and expertise of other people Fail to recognize their own mistakes and lack of skill So is there anything that can minimize this phenomenon? Is there a point at which the incompetent actually recognize their own ineptitude? "We are all engines of misbelief," Dunning has suggested. While we are all prone to experiencing the Dunning-Kruger effect, learning more about how the mind works and the mistakes we are all susceptible to might be one step toward correcting such patterns.

How about winners are grinners and losers are boozers. or Those who have an aversion to success. May find that some of their wants and needs aren't currently being met.

@Mel Hopkins I like to know things and understand dynamics. I don't mind making a mistake but wronging a person is an entirely different matter. In a storm grass bends and trees fall. So I am not trying to confuse strength with rigidity.

What is the most common action uttered during Juneteenth ?
I remember another time I was wrong. I had said something that upset you. I talked to my partner and she explained how it sounded to her and I apologised to you. One of the things I often say is everyone believes they are right until they know that they are wrong. I am interested in the exoteric and the esoteric. I have been interested in math and magic for as long as I can remember. I think part of the reason I am attracted to you, @Troy @Cynique is that you all have an openness to try and understand what is being said, and then you engage. I have lost the interest in trying to persuade someone to widen their viewpoint. That was disappearing when Cynique when into semi-retirement. Although yesterday I had various discussions with an avid Trump supporter. We generally have opposing viewpoints. Although I think I made one point that he felt and then understood. You can't judge people's choices unless you are in that situation. Interestingly that lead to this was him talking about Harlem gangsters. I had two personal stories of close contacts having interactions with well known Harlem Drug Lords.

The Secret Lore of Magic by Idries Shah
This is from The Secret Lore of Magic by Idries Shah. Who in addition to writing about Sufism was also interested in Magic. Therefore Plato said for a good cause that he which is not very cunning in logicke and wise in the vertues of naturall things likewise the aspects of the starres, shall not see the causes of marvellous things, nor know them, nor participate of the treasures of the Philosophers. XVII. Therefore I know that every thing hath that which is his owne of heat and colde, of which it maketh another thing effectuall by accident, directly and indirectly, and it hath all his vertues of the starres, and the figure of his generation, which it worketh in mortality, construction and greeting with other.
