  1. My recommending other sites is a vestige of the old days when that was common on the web. It was a really simple way to provide mutual support. Now we pay social media and Google to link to our sites… i link to every bookstore site I’m aware of, i don’t think any link to AALBC. That was not always true, but again it is reflective of his the web has evolved. Well I’m glad you picked up on the ISBN that is super important especially for booksellers. Again thanks for taking the time to share your positive experience publicly @Rodney campbell
  2. Is what he says? I’d be unable to determine the exact number? he looks fat and out of shape to me. hey Umar if you ever read this don’t take it seriously, I’m just giving ole Pioneer a hard time. I’ve never heard Umar speak in person, so I’ll take you at your word that the sisters flock to him. What do you think the quality of the ladies running up on Umar is like? Are they highly educated?
  3. Kyrie Irving donated $50K
  4. @Pioneer1 are you really confused about what the word “proof” means? What are you trying to accomplish?
  5. I think gun control should be part of the conversation. Understanding why is good too, but keeping guns out the hands of nuts should be a priority, don’t you think?
  6. you are correct. I use the forums using my phone and I’m really not as careful as i should be correcting typos and bad autocorrections. I’m not so confident that those gun-toting, bunker-building, survivalist have any interest in helping us and Even if they were willing to help there are enough of them. @Rodney campbell if a fraction of writers shared your enthusiasm that would be possible. Shoot you have more enthusiasm than i do — but it takes a lot to get me charged up 😉
  7. Again if Umar is a so called Alpha male, why can he get at least one sister that he is “sure” about? Alpha males are dominant and have many opportunities to procreate because they are considered desirable by the females of the species. How many children did Umar father @Pioneer1?
  8. As far as we know. In 5,000 years it will be interesting to see what is left of our civilization. I’m inclined to agree with @Rodney campbell i doubt we are any smarter as a species than we were 15,000 years ago. The difference is there are a hell of a lot more of us and we’ve had centuries of building upon prior knowledge. What do you think would happen to humanity if we took away all our technology, accumulated knowledge, and humanity and had to start from scratch? There would be very little to separate us from apes. I’d argue we are dumber. who amongst us cold survive more that a few days if we were plopped down in the wilderness. We couldn’t start a fire for warmth or protection. We could protect our selves from predators or find food.
  9. Wow Rodney that was pretty cool! I try 🙂 look out for even more coming up!
  10. Hi @Dee Miller would you list the ISBN13 of your books as follows: 9781520984773: Are Black Woman 'Always' so angry? Hmmm: Truth, Excuse or Something else Let's see what I can do to get your books up on the site. BTW the ISBN 9798218093198 does not come up in any queries -- not even Amazon, Can you double check it?
  11. agreed. The colors don’t really mean anything when the logo was designed, over the years I’ve said they represent the diversity in our culture. Thanks for asking, but I’ll have to point you to some interview or something.
  12. The operative word was “exclusively.” But under further consideration maybe “narrow minded” Is not the right phrase as it applies to the individual. Amazon exerts monopolistic power when it comes to independent book sales and publishing, so the decisions are limited. Indeed that is why I’m compelled to send readers there for some books, when I spent the previous three years boycotting them. The problem is for us collectively; when we publish with Amazon exclusively we give Amazon all the money to produce the book and all the money to sell and distribute it. This just increases their strength and revenue while weakening their competition.
  13. I watched an interesting program on YouTube that said there were multiple advanced civilizations in the past and all were wiped out by natural disasters. We will be wiped out too… Sooner than later. clearly the civilization that built the pyramids was advanced. Apparently there is evidence of other civilizations prior. So we may have been smarter in the past … it is not exactly a high bar…
  14. that is what i would think, so why are y’all letting him determine what alpha males do?
  15. Depending on the source doing the reporting I would accept it as proof 10 people were killed. Reputable newspapers are not in the business of reporting on murders that did not occur. If Alex Jones said it was actors staging the shooting I would not accept that as proof, as he is in the business of conspiracy theories and sensationalism.
  16. Umar Johnson is an Alpha male I presume. How many women and children is he supporting? What makes anyone think these "alpha males" will be willing to pick up all these unattached women, with children, and wife them up? The terms alpha and beta males are like the terms race -- neither has any basis in science. While polygamy may work for some, I do not think it is a solution to be a "remedy" for our community. On paper, there may be a lot of single mothers, but the reality is many of these women have a man in their lives, but for a variety of reasons it is not government official. The same is true for marriage. So-called single people are shacking up or in long-term relationships. I'm not sure there are stats on this, but we all know it is happening - right?
  17. Proof is not subjective, that is what makes it proof. Sure, it may not be proof to you because you refuse to accept it, but that does not change reality. To Trumpers the election was stolen. Proof was presented that it was not. People rejected that proof and stormed the Capitol. It was not proof to them. Your statements explain the behavior of the insurrectionists; they believe proof is subjective and they believe the people providing the proof are liars.
  18. The difference is in the absence of information. You use your anecdotes to refute facts, like the existence of different races when all the science tells us there is one race. anecdotes serve a purpose; they inform the stories that help us make sense of the world. However, they are usually flawed. When contradictory proof is presented the story based upon the anecdote needs to be revised or discarded. I would not assert that Missouri is more racist than Florida based solely on my personal experience. All i could offer is my experience and I would not generalize it to the entire population. If i did use my experience to make a generalization about the entire state i would naturally expect people to push back on that. This is usually what i do with you @Pioneer1
  19. Sure tuck it away @Pioneer1 I stand by the statement. This is all subjective, but some opinions are more informed than others and in the absence of data one should go with the more informed opinion. now if you have actual data to illustrate that Florida is more racist that some given city, I’m all ears.
  20. How is Florida different, really, than the rest of America? I've lived in several states, in different parts of the country. I've visited every state, virtually every major city, and almost every place Black people have a significant population. My anecdotal, personal experience -- while still anecdotal is better than most who wanna single out Florida. Believe it or not, I could really care less about the opinions of the uninformed. My concern is that people are so easily manipulated by the stuff they see online they stop thinking. Florida is no different than the rest of the country -- they have better weather and lower cost of living but are no more racist (rough on Black people) than New York, Texas, Illinois, Georgia, or California.
  21. Those are good ideas @Delano. Amazon has Spare for 38% off. To sell it for less than Amazon I would be taking a loss -- and this does not even factor in Amazon speed of delivery and "free" shipping. Now the loss can be justified as a way to get new customers, but with the next "big book" comes out I'd be expected to do this again. Amazon could, and absolutely would, drop the book's discount to 50%. Basically, in the long term, it is a losing strategy. Actually, I'm seriously reconsidering my book-selling business model in a world dominated by Amazon. @Pioneer1 in addition to the huge advance Random House spent millions more on marketing. I read the ghostwriter got a cool million. Of course, the book is tabloid fodder -- it needs to be to sell the million+ copies it needs to sell to earn a profit. As anyone here brought the book or watched the Netflix special. I'm not judging, just trying to see what you thought about them.
  22. Michael Brown's murder absolutely resulted in an increase in Black book sales, but these sales impact a very small number of titles. There was an increase in the publication and attention paid to books dealing with racism but again this only impacted a small number of titles. The number of books published overall seems to actually be declining. Please read this article December 2020 article from The New York Times it foreshadows what I'm observing now “Just How White Is the Book Industry?”
  23. Right, in contrast Umar has expressed a desire to be in a committed relationship and gave a weak excuse for not being in one. This tells me there is another more plausible explanation. i did not state, or intend to imply, he was gay or even bipolar, but both would be better reasons than the one he gave. He also stated he is wary of working with brothers because they are only trying to ride his coattail to fame. He does seem to think a great deal about himself.
