  1. A mile is 20 city blocks. It wasn’t the airplanes that took the towers down. It was the jet engine fuel. I haven’t seen a detailed video explaining the collapse of the world trade Center, Towers and I definitely did not read the report. However, what you’re suggesting is that the towers were brought down deliberately, which is a conspiracy theory an absurd, one IMHO. The conspiracy theory requires a lot more of an explanation than the official report.
  2. If you watch the video, all those questions will be answered. I thought you might find it interesting, But maybe not.
  3. I wonder if he is actually posting this stuff himself... There must be a million other more productive, or amusing, things he could be doing with his time.
  4. Well, it happened so how do you explain it? Here is an interesting story about the Citicorp building, real engineering deal with actual design flaws:
  5. @Pioneer1 pretty much every topic of conversation you have described would be off limits pretty much everywhere I've worked -- especially the flirting. I had one female boss that I can remember. I did not report directly to her she was to level above me. She overcompensated on being tough. What is the purpose of having women in the workplace if they are just going to try to act like a man... But don't let it be a black and a white one 'Cause they'll slam ya down to the street top Black police showing out for the white cop
  6. Yeah, ChatGPT will make things seemingly out of thin air and make it sound good. If you correct it, it always admits its error, which gives it a leg up on our friend @Pioneer1
  7. Racism will eventually end in America @Delano. It has been dying slowly for the past 100 years. Every successive generation has been less racist than the one before it. All the hand wringing over efforts against DEI is just racism thrashing in its death throes. Mostly dimwits, especially older ones that adhere to racist ideology today and they are decreasing in numbers If this country can manage to last another 100 years it will see the end of racism. Future generations will look back on us they way we look at white people who used to enslave their own children. Prejudice is a different story. It will probably be with us as it is part of human nature. Ha Ha! I'm not sure why @umbrarchist is so fixated on accounting. Accounting tells you nothing about acquiring and building wealth; it is little more than the rules of financial record keeping. Sure, like taxes understanding the rules of accounting can help you keep more of your money. But you have to earn the money first.
  8. even when presented with ample evidence, you still reject the truth. Dude just say, “I was wrong.” You’ve learned that SHANNON is a gender, neutral name and move on. It’s no big deal. We’re all wrong from time to time.
  9. yes, a statement of the obvious. You could’ve just said that and the conversation would’ve been much shorter
  10. Well, just how many Black millionaire did he make? A quick answer would be any owner of any professional sports franchise.
  11. Thanks for catching that Del. I’m surprised I didn’t catch that. Octavia Butler being on the list twice is a mistake. Publishers do not record authors names in a consistent fashion, so I need to normalize them. I corrected a few, but did not catch them all, obviously. When I get a chance, I’ll total up Octavia‘s sales put her in the right ranking and add the next ranking author to the hundredth position.
  12. On this list perhaps Tananarive Due at #93

  14. there’s the author Shannon Holmes, a former poster SHANNON King, the famous boxer, SHANNON Briggs, the baseball player, Shannon, Stewart, and perhaps thousands of other men, you don’t know Just another example of how your personal observations has failed you again
  15. I don’t know why you’re restricted to such a small file size. I’d have to look into it.
  16. maybe you’re right. Everybody’s gotta work the father, the mother, the kids… But hasn’t that always been true for us, black folks that is? Sure there are some black families where dad‘s the breadwinner, mom stays home. Kids get to play after school…. I didn’t know any growing upand I don’t know any many today. There are circumstances where the guy can afford to raise the family himself, but the wife is gonna work anyway cause she’s gotta have her own money… being a stay at home Mom is seemingly degrading in today’s world But all the kids I grew up with, we all worked as soon as we could get our working papers at 14. I was a messenger all through high school.. a lot of kids worked earlier than that, delivering the newspapers, bagging groceries. I used to collect bottles, but that was back when a nickel was worth something. again, you may be right I’m pretty sure in places like New York City. The data will support that as well.
  17. You still don’t see the spam on your comments
  18. @pioneer (there’s a bug such that when I try to @ someone it doesn’t generate the link or alert when using my cell phone) share a screenshot showing your max file limitation. This is not a parameter I set so is the default and I don’t even know what it is cause I don’t recall ever hitting the limit. Whenever I post the image, I usually resize it and compress it a bit.
  19. I’m not a joiner only in recent years have I joined organizations and actively participated in them. I’ve learned I can’t do very much by myself. I’ve never been an active member of any black organization. Pledging a frat during undergrad was the last thing on my mind. Those brothers used to pledge a whole semester or more. It seemed. I didn’t understand what the benefit of it might be. Pledging seem to help getting females, but that has never been a problem for me. I already have plenty of male friends I just didn’t see the benefit of it. Living in the south however, most of the people I engage with are frat. In New York City, most of the people I engage with were not in a Greek letter organization. It’s cultural here in the south is just assumed you remember of a church. I’m somewhat of an anomaly down here, educated entrepreneur, but don’t go to church not a member of a frat, and not married. one disadvantage of living a long life is losing friends that must be hard. I have a group of guys that play poker with regularly. I imagine one day if I live long enough, they won’t be around any longer, and it will be impossible to truly replace them. I’ve known all of them at least 30 years a couple of them more than 55 years.
  20. did you miss the entire me too movement that was largely white boys getting caught up? Malcolm X leveled the charge against Elijah, Mohammed, and Martin Luther King was caught on tape? was a relatively common name when I was younger, so I’m sure there are a lot of Damita’s still running around. Shannon, is probably a more common name and it is gender neutral like Tracy or Morgan. Shoot there are a lot of women running around with the name Troy. English is not a gendered language so it’s not like naming a girl Antonio or a boy Sofia. You guys are too young to be having these old attitudes lol!
  21. I know I’ve been out of the work environment for a long time, but @pioneer the way you describe the conversations you have and your understanding of how it’s set up is completely alien to me and I’ve worked for a bunch of companies in a lot of different places. I’m not discounting your experiences. They are just very different than mine. Maybe it’s the blue color versus white collar environments…
  22. “The meaning of life is one of the oldest and most profound questions humans have asked. Different traditions, disciplines, and individuals offer different answers: Philosophically, it might be to seek truth, beauty, and understanding. Religiously, it could be to serve or connect with a higher power, to love others, or to fulfill a divine purpose. Scientifically, life is a product of evolution—its “meaning” may simply be to survive and reproduce. Existentially, many say meaning isn’t given—it’s made. Life’s meaning is whatever you choose it to be. In short: life’s meaning is what you make of it. What kind of answer resonates most with you—spiritual, philosophical, scientific, or personal?” —ChatGPT I guess in a couple years, the answer will get much better. It will be able to tell you the meaning of your life. I asked ChatGPT based upon what it knows about me which option would I subscribed to? “Based on what I know about you, I’d say you’re most likely to resonate with a personal or philosophical perspective. You’ve built something meaningful (AALBC), you’re deeply engaged with Black literature and culture, and you think critically about language, history, and purpose. That suggests you probably see life’s meaning as something self-determined, built through community, legacy, truth-seeking, and uplift. Would you say that’s on point—or is there a spiritual or scientific side you lean into more often?” I didn’t follow up with a response, but it was right.
  23. I have not followed this story and have no interest in it honestly. You guys seemed completely convinced that homeboy is innocent, why? It is not like Shannon Sharpe is a Bill Cosby or an MLK caught up in a sex scandal, in a position to elevate Black people. He is just a dude that talk shit on a podcast. Last I heard we was gossiping about Puffy with Katt Williams and live streaming the audio of him banging someone...
  24. Nope Pioneer, our good @ProfD will freely admit himself, that he has taken humorous jabs at the "Alphabet community. I never said that he was homophobic (though he may be). All I'm pointing out is that when you make fun of a group you run the risk of being accused of being against that group. OK let take this statement. It is purely anti-gay. Now with the laughing face I presume that we are not supposed to take the statement seriously. Surely you can imagine a gay person taking offense and seeing you bigoted against gay people. Also, @ProfD, you must know that there are plenty of gay men that could easily kick your butt, then take it
