The so-called white race is an artificial designation instituted by those of Caucasian nationalities in order to enable discrimination. I wasn't aware that Eastern Indians are labeled "white" as opposed to "Asian", a label which carries no negative stigma. Irish, Italians, Poles, Jewish immigrants were able to circumvent discrimination by anglicizing their names and infiltrating the ranks of whiteness, something they could do if they had fair skin and straight hair, which many of them did. Politics were also a factor because descendants of these ethnic groups soon gained a measure of power by forming voting blocs. For whatever reasons, people of the Negroid stock seem entrenched at the bottom of the totem pole.

You're right. Puerto Ricans are given the option of listing their children as White when they are born. I didn't know this until studying Lupe Feliciano of the Last Poets. In a documentary he explained that when he was born his mother had the option of listing him as White like all Puerto Ricans are given.

my grandfather is related to Coronado one of the first spanish explorers of north america and he has married two non hispanic white women in his lifetime. He has three biological children and they all appear white. His grandchildren, all 5 of them, appear white. Yet these five young people are also hispanic and counted as such. My anecdote is an example of how the white population in America will remain stable (or grow) yet at the same time it will have a more pronounced spanish flavor, pardon the pun. Not to worry white people out there, America will remain majority "white" for a very long time thanks to all those migrants from mexico, etc....(my grandfather is also an immigrant from mexico, or his parents were anyway). For those of you that think my story is in the minority, pardon the pun, a full 20% of all hispanic births every year in America are actually the cross between a hispanic parent and a non-hispanic white parent. The vast majority of these babies appear white yet are counted as hispanic. Again, EVERY single year. There are about 900,000 hispanics born in America every year. Roughly 180,000 (20%) of those are really non-hispanic white counted as hispanic. The other 720,000 hispanic babies are of unknown appearance but if its true that 52% of U.S. born hispanics marry non-hispanics (i.e. whites), then a majority of hispanics being white at the same time is not only possible but likely...hence, how America in 2050 or 2060, etc will still claim a strong white majority (70%+). The only change is that a lot of those whites will have spanish surnames or be the offspring of "mixed" unions with non-hispanic whites. A white is a white, folks. If all these whites came straight outta Spain, would anyone care? or England, or anywhere else in europe for that matter? Again, a white is a white no matter where it comes from. Welcome to a new but same America, one with a strong white majority.

I'm so proud of Frances. She's a Chicago girl, born and raised on the city's south side. Even met her once many years ago when she came down to one of the U. of I.'s homecomings to hang out with her sister, Lorne, who was a student there, and a friend of mine. Dr. Welsing really held her own against Dr. Shockley to whom objectivity seemed to be a foreign concept. This didactic ideologue set the criteria and then tailored his conclusions to them. IQ tests are, indeed, a joke if environmental and cultural influences aren't factored into the results. Survival skills are a very accurate marker when it comes to smartness and they're certainly something that Blacks excel at. We're still around, despite the obstacles put in our paths by Caucasians steeped in their innate fear of skin color, a fear that deludes them into believing that being different is synonymous with being inferior. Suffice to say that aided and abetted by treachery and cruelty and greed, the so-called white race, down through the ages has been able to oppress and claim victory over people of color and, as is the tradition, history is written by the winners. So much for truth. Keeping in mind that in the present, Shockley's theories have been discarded by reputable sources, I just let the tired old claims made by Uncle Retard roll off my back. I've been hearing his patented rhetoric for 50 years and, over time, ridicule has become my weapon of choice for rebuttal because these white supremacy clowns make it so easy to make fun of them.

It never ceases to amaze me how readily we allow for equal opportunity while we are never given the same chances. Kudos to you Troy for representing the true quality of what is supposed to happen in the US.

Spike Lee's decision to make a movie entitled "Chiraq" created a lot of controversy in Chi-town, with many characterizing him as a carpetbagger, - a New Yorker descending on Chicago, capitalizing on an ongoing crises, and bringing more focus on this town's violent reputation. I tended to agree with this but Spike did have support from those who credited him with providing jobs for local actors with this "art-imitating-life" project, even as it poured salt on the wounds of those who have lost loved ones to gun fire. Spike did make a financial contribution to a local organization fighting black-on-black crime.

I really don't understand the comment by the pastor myself re: black women/white men etc., maybe I did not read it right or something. But it sounded pretty lame in my opinion. First of all he does not know all Black women/Black men so therefore, should not generalize. You know what, I think I will just stop typing now lol, because to try to makes sense of this would prove a bit exhausting. :-)

The circus that is currently passing itself off as the Republican presidential race is really making a mockery of American politics. SMH The front runner really needs to fold his tent and steal away into the night. All this egomanical mop head does is trump the truth, and he's not playing with full deck. Having said that, I find myself agreeing with The Donald's assessment of the only woman in this freak show. One look at the sour puss of Carly Fiorino and my immediate thought was that she'd be better qualified to audition for the role of the wicked witch of the north in a remake of the Wizard of Oz.. As for the persona Trump claimed he was referring to when he attacked Carly's appearance, this fugitive from Hewlit Packard's boardroom brought to mind the corporate disaster that she turned out to be, a stiff wanna-be who didn't let facts get in the way of her self-serving reprimands. And there, idling in the 3rd place poll position is brain dead surgeon Ben Carson, who would be better off diving into a pot of boiling water where he could develop into the new poster boy for Uncle Ben's Rice, rather than trying to keep his balance on the presidential tight rope. The rest of the acts in this two-bit road show need to line up and wait their turns to be shot out of the cannon. Of course, there, serving as the Barker, is the ubiquitous media, declaring the winners and losers in this farce, doing a dubious job of shaping public opinion. I don't know how any free-thinker could be impressed with any of these paid-for clowns. Whoever wins the Democratic nomination should become POTUS by default.
