ANNOUNCING THE 2013 HURSTON/WRIGHT LEGACY AWARD HONOREES
Join the Zora Neale Hurston/Richard Wright Foundation to honor outstanding Black published writers in the categories of fiction, nonfiction and poetry at the 12th Annual Hurston/Wright Legacy Award. The ceremony will be at the Carnegie Library at 801 K Street, NW (Mount Vernon Square), Washington, D.C. on Friday, October 25, 2013, at 7:00 p.m.
The 2013 Legacy Awards Ceremony will also honor the following writers:

Wil Haygood
Wil Haygood, prize-winning biographer and author of the article that inspired the film THE BUTLER: A Witness to History
Natasha Trethewey, the U.S. Poet Laureate, professor and author of Thrall
Isabel Wilkerson, Pulitzer-Prize winning author of The Warmth of Other Suns
Noted presenters will include:
Sonia Sanchez, award winning poet, activist, scholar, teacher and Philadelphia's first Poet Laureate
Edward P. Jones, Pulitzer-Prize winning author of The Known World
James E. Clyburn, U.S. Representative of South Carolina
Lucy Anne Hurston, the niece of literary luminary and Harlem Renaissance writer Zora Neale Hurston, is the author of Speak, So You Can Speak Again: The Life of Zora Neale Hurston
Teri Ellen Cross Davis, the poetry coordinator at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington D.C.
Dolen Perkins-Valdez, author of the New York Times Bestseller Wench: A Novel will serve as Mistress of Ceremony.
