This question is in reaction to @Pioneer1's conversation where he asked the question, "Who among you have had DIRECT experience with and/or DIRECT communication with a Higher Power than human beings?" Speaking directly to a higher power would also be considered miraculous. Do you believe in miracles? I think many of us do. I was talking to a someone who related the story of how they prayed over a friend who was at death's door and the person survived -- a miracle to everyone involved. Some would say that survival of any ADOS in this country is a miracle. A great many people have prayed for our survival indeed it is a cliche to say, "I'm my ancestors' wildest dream." What is a miracle anyway? Are they doled out by some higher powered based upon the most impassioned prayers, do we create our own miracles, or are miracles simply a way to explain favorable occurrences we can't otherwise explain?

@Pioneer1 I suspect most flat-earthers are white too put then in them same buckets as those who have been anally probed by ETs. That does not mean they aliens don't exist. Consider why you are so predisposed to believing conspiracy theories. It is a societal trend, so you are no unique. BWT are you an antivaxxer?

As a scientist....Dr. Tyson focuses on FACTS.....not SPECULATION. So he's doing exactly what he's suppose do to, which is talk about what he KNOWS.

Didn't read the book but I remember the T.V. movie and T.V. show that followed. Oprah Winfrey was in one of them....or maybe both 🤔 I thought it was pretty good. Has a decent mix of social issues and attractive women. What I really liked about the T.V. show was how the bruthaz would come on singing acapella at the opening of every episode. One of the episodes (or was it in the movie series??) that stood out was Oprah Winfrey's character getting angry and rounding up a bunch of women to knock down some wall...lol.

Plus we are more efficient. You don’t need as many people to manufacture things or grow our food. you don’t need telephone operators, secretaries, travel agents, people to man toll booths or subway stations, etc. Of course, none of the financial benefits of this increased efficiency have gone to the masses. The billionaires just gained even more wealth. Our productivity has gone up, but people really don’t feel it because everything has gotten so much more expensive. In an economy, where there is increased, efficiency one would expect lower prices. If there is no longer a need for someone to hand out tokens in the subway, why does it cost more to ride the train? If we don’t need people to collect tolls, why has the toll increased? If the United States is energy independent, why do gasoline and utilities cost so much more?

In the 22 years of running a discussion forum. I have never had two outages which have lasted more a day in three month period. The Details On Saturday afternoon while waiting for a flight I decided to upgrade the discussion forum's website software using my cell phone. Now a few years ago this would have been unthinkable, but today I can do quite a bit from my cell phone -- even some development. Unfortunately, during the upgrade my firewall halted the upgrade because it did not recognize my IP Address -- a great security measure, which requires me to whitelist the IP address I'm currently using. The problem is my cell phone, for some reason, would not properly display the screen which would allow me to whitelist the ip address I was currently using, so the upgrade could not be completed until I got back home and get technical support from the vendor. Sometimes I feel like the effort to keep this forum running is really not worth it... most people really do prefer the big corporate social media sites. I see successful forums like Lipstick Alley doing well so it gives me hope.
