  1. @Troy You said you were curious to know who Jeromex's reverend was? Well, here he is. He's preaching now....let's take a listen........ Pastor Manning
  2. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2023/12/29/rev-william-barber-ii-amc-theaters-to-change/72057398007/ Rev. William Barber walks with two canes and has his own personal chair to sit. Last week, Rev. Barber took his 90-year old mother to see The Color Purple movie. Rev. Barber brings his chair into the movie theater as a reasonable accommodation. Yet, some goofy azz movie theater employees take exception and call the cops. The po-po escorted Rev. Barber out of the movie theater. Considering Rev. Barber was in his home state of North Carolina, clearly, these people should have known him. He's only the most prominent civil rights activist there. The CEO of AMC definitely knows Rev. Barber's work. He quickly issued and apology and wants to have a meeting for damage control, er, to clear up any misunderstanding. Whether there is a lawsuit or not, a few crash dummy employees will lose their jobs after potentially costing their employer a few million dollars. The police department has some explaining to do as well. This story ain't over yet.๐Ÿ˜Ž
  3. Thank you to Kisura Flytie for informing me about hawaii's black community her youtube https://www.youtube.com/@plantdyefortextiles I asked questions, here are my answers The schomburg is a museum/library dedicated to a part of the history /heritage of the Black populace in the U.S.A. It was started by Schomburg, who is black, but the schomburg has always rejected the various perspectives of black history or heritage in the usa for a focus on integrated heritage , the segregatory/militant/nationalistic heritages in the black populace in the usa have always been downplayed, not unwanted, but not emphasized, not exposed. https://www.nypl.org/locations/schomburg the Schomburg started as part of the 135th street branch until it expanded beyond it. So the schomburg was always apart of the new york public library system which i argue is the largest library system of any city in humanity. Where I live, Harlem has a chamber of commerce since 1896 but it was started by whites and has always been a unenthusiastic advocate of black ownership, even in harlem itself. The following is the alliance of black chambers of commerce in the usa. the international section is informative. https://usblackchambers.org/ The closest to my locale is the long island https://liaacc.org/ I signed up to their newsletter, i suggest you all find your local and if you don't have one in the city you live in, let's talk abd maybe we can figure out how to start one. Now to Black Hawaii https://obamahimuseum.org/ A historical figure, enjoy the read https://historichawaii.org/2023/02/17/anthony-d-allen-from-schenectady-new-york-to-hawaii/
  4. Pastor Manning is living proof that Black men are not overly violent. Otherwise, his azz would have been in the dirt a long time ago.๐Ÿ˜Ž
  5. The reality is that today's *Black* mayors aren't cut from the same cloth as men like Marion Barry and Coleman Young. Factor in that some of these folks are tethers instead of AfroAmericans and their ineffectiveness makes even more sense.๐Ÿ˜Ž

    Happy New year @Chevdove!
  7. Please share the data! Last year, I read two novels (both published by AALBC) and one children's book (for review and interview). I started three novels last year, two of which are classics, and I plan to finish them this year. I can't begin to count how many government publications I've read for my consultancy work. The Washington Post reports I've read 70 Articles, and if I checked, it would probably be even more for the New York Times. Still, this statistic makes me a bit sad. While watching a rom-com film on the Lifetime channel, I heard this quote from the fictitious writer on why she wrote about what she hadn't herself experienced. To paraphrase, the romance writer replied, "I write these novels to give women what they can't get in their real life." I wonder if this is the reason why black women read.
  8. Power is intoxicating. It takes a rare individual to works it and not be corrupted by it. A while back a women wanted to go out with me. I told her no it's not going to work. She was persistent and I relented. At one point I realised she would do almost anything for me. I then had the thought how far would she go. At that point I broke it off because I could do whatever I wanted with her. It was tempting to have that level of control over someone. However it would make me into someone I didn't want to become.
  9. Happy Perihelion It will occur at 7:38pm Eastern standard time or UTC -5 the earth is the closest it will be to the sun, at 91,404,095 miles, and on its elliptical orbit about the sun, continuously increases the distance between the earth's center to the Sun's center, till the July aphelion THe following is my 2023 art summary.
