Artificial Intelligence Continues to Amaze (and Scare) Me
ProfD replied to Troy's topic in Culture, Race & Economy
Correct. Humans have been conditioned to make the compromise of being comfortable instead of cured. Supposedly, there's no cure for cancer. Researching it has not produced any results yet. No amount of money solves ALS or any other debilitating disease. No cure. Medication. Saving money is one way of accumulating it. But, the objective of having money is being able to afford taking care of needs as they arise. Not needing anything makes it moot. Treatment and best care is the most people can expect especially when it comes to incurable diseases. To date, there's not one human walking around with an artificially generated organ (lung, liver, kidney, heart, etc.). Weird science project at best. Nothing curative for humans. The technology isn't there yet. AI may be able to compile enough information to fill in the blanks of human knowledge and understanding. Sure. Regardless of whether it's existing technology or future, always follow the money. It's not in the cure. Maintenance. -
Artificial Intelligence Continues to Amaze (and Scare) Me

That's one aspect of technological advancement. There are many examples of how technology improves the quality of life. It still has not cured any diseases. No money in solving problems. Human greed cares more about accumulating more money than anything else. Mental and physical health be d8mned. Medication will suffice. My 94-year old grandmother cares more about leaving her money in the bank than anything else. She's reluctant to spend it on her real needs. Surely, if someone is smart enough to use AI or any other technology to cure themselves, I'd imagine they will do it. Artificial limbs aren't generated as in grown. Prosthetics are manufactured kinda like robots. Remains to be seen if AI can figure out how certain animals can actually regrow an appendage and translate it to humans. Then, how long would it take. Otherwise, every living thing is born to die. Humans are no exception. We'll never be able to circumvent the inevitable. -
I know many brothas who bounce back and forth between those places. No issues whatsoever. Foreigners h8te arrogant Americans. It's mainly the white Americans who show up and treat their country like a garbage can or toilet. Otherwise, a rich Black man can get away with all kinds of sh8t as long as he doesn't p*ss off white folks. Women of every persuasion throw themselves at Black athletes and entertainers. It's the same thing for average Black men considering the number of interracial coupling we see here in the US. world. Regardless of race, the women do not hate Black men. It's the men in their culture who cannot stand us and who brainwash some of their women into hating us too. Yet, go to any Asian massage parlor and receive the same happy ending as anybody else. Wu-Tang nailed it with C.R.E.A.M. back in the day.

Yep. If circumstance or situation can be traced back to an event. Smoking kills folks. We don't try to figure out which cigarette did it or whether it was 1st or 2nd hand smoke.
-
Of course, I don't have a *favorite* US POTUS because none of them have been a *friend* to Black people. Every US POTUS has done whatever it took to maintain the system of white supremacy either through benign neglect or policy.

@Pioneer1, natural disaster death toll numbers aren't broken down for the public by direct and indirect impact. Same goes for catastrophes. For example, a bridge collaspes. Crushed and cardiac arrest prople get counted together.

Right. Diddy wouldn't be 1st or last rich person to engage in criminal activity. Considering the crimes Diddy's been accused of in the past, I'm thinking he would have to be super stupid to have underage folks at those parties. @Pioneer1, there's plenty ways to have fun without it leading to drama or criminal charges. More money actually makes it easier if one is intelligent in how they handle their business. For example, dudes like Diddy and R. Kelly have or had enough money to do their thing in countries that would have allowed it. Brazil or Thailand.
-
I don't believe Diddy was stupid enough to be involved in that crime. Waiting for the trial. Diddy wasn't trying to be a Black activist or leader. I still think he po'd the wrong people. I'm looking forward to the trial because I don't believe Diddy was on some stein-shit.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2024/10/01/jimmy-carter-100-birthday-what-to-know/75188858007/ Former POTUS Carter turned 100 years old on October 1st. POTUS Carter is the oldest living Commander in Chief and only POTUS to reach 100 years old. It has been reported that POTUS Carter wants to live long enough to vote in the election next month. I don't imagine there's much to want upon reaching the century mark.

Fun. Some people never grow up. No amount of money will change it. That requires maturity. Some folks consider *safe* to be boring. Some people make a lot of money in order to indulge in their idea of recreation and fun activities. Having a log of money leads some people to having a false sense of power and invincibility. No amount of downfall examples will stop people from believing they're on a higher plane.

Hurricane Katrina death toll was very close to 1,400. So far, hurricane Helene has a death toll of 225 and counting. Helene still has a long way to go in order to surpasss Katrina in body count.

@Pioneer1, great questions. We don't know what *good* AI will do. There is no money in curing diseases. Maintenance is the money-maker. The pharmaceutical industry was built on it. AI is a tool that could potentially be used to solve problems and improve quality of life. Most folks will use AI to produce goods and services faster in order to make money. Industries will use AI to reduce costs which means eliminating people from the workforce. -
Just like the public at large, the vast majority mentioned above aren't interested in the Twin Towers Affair. The annual commemoration is good enough.

When MLK Jr. III and SCLC show up, everything gets hidden...drugs, alcohol and free love. They're treated like the police.
-
Great. Reads like you were already out of dodge. Still, thank goodness all is well on your end.

Looks like sista @Mel Hopkins did a drive-thru on the fam. Glad all is well on GA. Hope chlorine poisoning doesn't happen in your area.

Absolutely not a car salesman. I've witnessed American gross consumerism for several decades now.

Diddy was promoting Vote or Die a few years ago. He has not been too flashy since the late 1990s/early 2000s. However, Diddy has been making power moves. The multimillion dollar lawsuit he fiied against a company could have stirred up a hornets nest. Whenever Black folks challenge any aspect off the system of racism white supremacy they can expect a nasty fight or worse.

It's not uncommon for some of the family to go radio silent for days and weeks and months. @Troy checks in often enough considering he keeps the lights on around here. I'm claiming he'll chime in soon. Hope all is well with everyone in the storm path and aftermath.

I voted in the poll. I think we know who won't be getting reelected in NYC when they vote for mayor again.

Any economic crises that happened over a decade is history to generation X and later. Repo has been around for decades. It hasn't stopped people from financing vehicles above their means. As mention above, vehicles are an extension of status or self-worth especially for men. Then, there's all types of vehicles. Regardless of buyer, it doesn't matter to most that a vehicle depreciates faster than the new car smell wears off.

The media will run this Diddy debacle until there's nothing left to see. Then, they'll keep milking it from every angle for several years. The late Michael Jackson and OJ Simpson along with Bill Cosby amd R. Kelly, are a few Black men the media has chosen to villianize and monetize. Diddy knew the deal as he climbed the ranks of fame and celebrity. He enjoyed the high-life. Regardless of whether or not Diddy knew, the system of racism white supremacy always breaks its tools.
-
Several reasons it's not happening: 1) Black folks aren't united enough to ride with him if they were so inclined 2) Mayor Eric Adams is former law enforcement 3) Adams doesn't seem to claim FBA/ADOS That ship has sailed. AfroAmericans are rudderless when it comes to strong leadership. We've been over this already but all skin folk ain't kinfolk. They're not going to do anything because they've been assigned token positions within the system of racism white supremacy. Diddy was denied a $50 million bail. High profile Black folks are victims under the system. That's going to happen. There's nothing Black folks can do about it especially when we're not united and codified.

Definitely hoping all is well with brotha @Troy living on the peninsula. Every year, Floridians have to be prepared to evacuate during hurricane season. Almost reminds me of relocation according to NF Jr. If available, home and auto insurance has to be higher than giraffe snatch. Florida is still a nice place to visit. I'd never want to live there though.

The dates and references are meaningless to the current generation. So, the argument comes across as a crazy old man yelling at the clouds.
