I don't known about writing phenomenon but my theory is that you're in that percentile of folks who get to exceed life expectancy in a very good and healthy way. Reminds me of my grandmother who will be 94 years old next month. Her mind and wit is still very sharp. No ailments. No medication routine. She still lives independently. Only stopped driving because she doesn't have too. I cook and host several family functions. My grandma shows up at everything and talks trash and eats and cuts up better than people half her age. @aka Contrarian , you're playing with house money at this point in the game and looking great while doing it. Enjoy. Both you and my grandma are living miracles especially compared to those seniors who who think Ronald Reagan was the last POTUS.

@Troy, of course, we know why that book would never be in every American home. True Black history would rollback and turn upside down the world as we know it. IMO, that's why it's important for Black folks to get their heads out of religion which has brainwashed and learn their true history. Knowledge of self is the real key to freedom and salvation.

(The hatred created from racism) It just never ends
ProfD replied to Stefan's topic in Culture, Race & Economy
The man had been harassing the family for years which means this event had been brewing. I'd imagine somebody hoped and prayed that it would never escalate into violence. Before the proliferation of guns, folks were using rope and trees to accomplish the same end. There is a mentality that breeds this type of hate. Any weapon will suffice in carrying out an execution. The people who could most easily solve these types of *problems* are the most unwilling to do so. The same people thrive and benefit from societal dysfunction in many ways. -

The 88% I quoted is average literacy rate for AfroAmericans across the board. https://wordsrated.com/african-american-literacy-statistics/ A great example of how our economic infrastructure is severely lacking. Ultimately, that's what many folks end up having to do. I'm fortunate enough to live in an area with a solid AfroAmerican Bank. They have been excellent to me over a couple decades and counting. -

A literacy rate of 88% on average would suggest that Black folks are not lacking in education. We are lacking in opportunities. We have not built enough of a Black economic infrastructure to insure that our people can be gainfully employed without having to rely on the dominant society. AI is going put to white folks out of work. The trickle down effect will be brutal especially for the most educated Black folks with no businesses. -
Right. On some level they do but in the grand scheme, when it comes to Black people, regardless of hue or ethnicity, we're all the same.

Reads like a mockery or remix is being made of the 1st Black ghetto TV show. I wouldn't be surprised if Black folks are allowing and/or complicit in a trashy remake.

Excellent way to put it. -

Considering my gifts and talents, I was probably put here to help and teach i.e. spread love. Love is simply giving of yourself unselfishly and unconditionally without expectation of reciprocation or reward. Looks simple but it's not. Greed, jealousy, envy, hate, etc., make it harder than Chinese arithmetic for most people to give. That's where we get the adage that it's better to give than to receive. Here's the dope part.... Those who give love unconditionally receive far more than they could have asked for in the form of joy. It actually feels great to make a difference in someone else's life. -
H8ll to the naw. Dark-skin comes in different hues but that person is totally misleading with that description.

As I've mentioned before, the world would be a much better place if humans truly understood how to give and receive love. Most *problems* would be solved. -
Person of color or non-white would accomplish the same thing with no confusion.

Many people claim they would do X,Y, Z if they didn't have to work and pay bills. I'm slightly curious to see if humans become more creative and productive with more free time on their hands due to a life of leisure.

The literacy rate for African-Americans 15 years and older is around 88%. The rate is indistinguishable between males and females. The rate has been relatively stable for several decades. -

The average US literacy rate is around 86%. The average mofo knows how to read. Being able to find a skill or trade and a high-paying job will remain the biggest hurdle. -
That's right. I would not expect anything less in what could be the victory lap. Cher did it. Believe.

Glad you mentioned it. I started to but left it out to keep my post shorter. Clive Davis, a proud Jew and member of the alphabet soup community gave Puffy $40M to start his Bad Boy Record label in the 1990s. Puffy has a made a few headlines lately. I believe it stems from biting the hands that fed him.

Pro-Palestinian Protests at Columbia University
ProfD replied to ProfD's topic in Culture, Race & Economy
The protests have gotten more rowdy in a few spots. Police have to put on their riot gear and knock down a few encampments and arrest some folks. The craziest part is that in a few weeks college students will go home for summer break. Summer school students shouldn't have time or money to waste, er, protest. They've got a GPA to protect. -

Great. Because my comment wasn't intended to be an argument. Educators should be concerned about literacy. Society should be concerned with providing enough high-paying job opportunities before technology flips the script. I believe people can learn in different ways whatever they need to know in order to survive. Nope. There's nothing deeper to reveal. I'm not sure I can make it any clearer. So, I'll pop out of this thread and head back over to a real conflict. -

Calm down. No imposter here. As one of America's greatest Presidents and orators we know Abraham Lincoln wasn't truly illiterate. There are plenty gifted musician who cannot read or write music. An educator would say they are musically illiterate. As I mentioned above, I would never consider illiterate anyone of talent, skill, achievement or accomplishment. Just check out the full definition of the word as it relates to lacking formal education and unlettered. -
Science fiction writers have provided a few scenarios where computers come alive. We can only hope that information doesn't become an algorithm.

It is no secret that Jewish gangsters built the entertainment industry in America. The history speaks for itself. The music business is one of the best examples of the greed and corruption that enabled white folks to make billions of dollars on the backs of talented Black people who just wanted to earning a living by playing music. The mention of Berry Gordy is a classic case of whataboutism. Gordy learned the tricks of the trade from somewhere or someone. He didn't create that business or write up contracts out of thin air. Back in those days, Jews had no problem with finding *smart* people worth *mentoring* in Black communities. A lack of knowledge of and/or failure to embrace and teach entrepreneurship and wealth-building has been an Achilles Heel for Black folks for a very long time. It would eliminate the horror stories of folks getting swindled out of their money.

Right. Because the snowflakes and sensitivity police would have you arrested for making that statement outside acceptable channels. Here's doubling down on insensitivity or mysogyny or whatever, I'm glad the infertile 77-year-old woman looks great. Makes that coochie the perfect playground if it's still potable and pokable. Calm down folks...these are just jokes.

Abraham Lincoln only had one year of formal education. It's hard to sing lyrics if one is unable to read them. Also, he's not a formally trained musician. Despite any real or perceived illiteracy, R. Kelly became a successful songwriter, composer, music producer and entertainer. By no means am I proclaiming these men to be illiterate. Just providing examples of people who beat the definition and/or stigma.
