  1. Karine Jean-Pierre has been White House Press Secretary since May 2022. Karine Jean-Pierre's press briefings look like an exercise in uneasiness as she tries to sell the soap for POTUS PJB. Of course, it's interesting that media is quick to mention that Jean-Pierre is the 1st Black and openly LGBTQ+ WH Press Secretary. There will be less stressful jobs whenever she gets tired of tap dancing for the administration.
  2. I'm wondering what it will take for the Dems to put up a fight for anything. The GOP doesn't hesitate to push through their agenda when they're behind the wheel.
  3. Absolutely. Healthy debate is great. Keeps the mind sharp.
  4. https://www.npr.org/2024/07/01/1198912764/consider-this-from-npr-draft-07-01-2024 No surprise. In a 6-3 decision, SCOTUS gives former POTUS presidential immunity. More than likely, cases brought against him will be dropped. If he's re-elected, he'll be able to have DOJ drop the charges or pardon himself. Either way, if Dems thought courts cases would turn the orange man into Tang kool-aid, it's not working. Former POTUS Orange Julius aka Teflon Don is still skating and skirting the judicial system.
  5. Propping up a POTUS in mental and physical decline would be on par with 1) no reparations for Black folks, 2) never repearling anti-Black crime bills, 3) no Black Hate Crime legisation, 4) never codifying Roe v Wade and 5) surrendering the Supreme Court to conservatives to name a few. All things considered, it seems the Dems are fine with letting it happen. Of course, it's my belief that both political parties are two sides of the same coin in the grand scheme of things. My dad passed away a little over a month ago. He liked to watch MSNBC. During one of our last conversations while he was in the hospital, he mentioned the country was going downhill. I told him no to worry because it would not make a difference especially for him. The outcome of the election won't have a long term on anyone as long as folks can anesthetize themselves with gross consumerism and materialsm.
  6. The rationale I trot out is not intended to be a one size fits all. It applies to whoever feels most comfortable wearing the shoes. Right. A discussion forum should be about a dialog and excchange of opinions, ideas and views.
  7. Black folks have been loyal to one party for decades. Have received nothing much in return. Really need to come up with tangibles i.e. special interests to which politicians can be held accountable.
  8. For the 1st time in history, America has two unpopular choices running for POTUS. Surely, folks will vote for one of them but fewer people are enthusiastic about their choice.
  9. Facts on both accounts. Black folks need to come up with special interests to which politicians can be held accountable.
  10. It's ridiculous. We aren't in it but there's a demographic of folks that MTS appeals to and she can motivate them to click on, spend and buy useless sh8t. These big companies will use anything to make more money. Nothing we can do to stop it. The only thing we can do is vote with our own money and avoid contributing to their bottom line.
  11. The system of capitalism thrives on consumerism and materialism which are the opiates that keep the masses anesthetized and oppressed.
  12. I don't believe too many folks ever thought cars, radios, TVs and computers would become sentient.
  13. White folks. 6 decades of worldwide tours. The Rolling Stones are the highest-grossing live music act of all time collecting an estimated $2.6 billion.
  14. Agreed. I certainly would not be surprised if he decided to stay in and the Dems support it. If PPJB remains the Dem nominee, that will make it easier for POTUS OJ to get re-elected.
  15. Yep. As I mentioned in the debate thread, it was sad and pathetic display. The article points out the difference between the POTUS PJB who showed up for the State of the Union address a few months ago and the person we saw and heard last night. Even the most bipartisan news media outlets try to hide the most embarrassing POTUS miscues. The folks most intimately aware of POTUS PJB's mental acuity and physical fitness know the real deal. The Dems may be wiling to keep PPJB propped up for as long as the Weekend at Bernie's routine works. I still think Dems will find a way of getting PPJB to tap out and step aside before November.
  16. AI (Artificial Intelligence) is about as capable of becoming sentient as a vibrator, dildo, blow up doll or robot will be able to develop feelings for its owner.
  17. Right. The Dems have a few folks they could nominate i.e. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (MI), Gov. Gavin Newsom (CA), Gov. Josh Shapiro (PA), The three (3) of them are in the 50s age range. Watching the debate last night, my 1st thought flashed back to when Larry Holmes beat up Muhammad Ali. Even Holmes could see that Ali wasn't all there. Larry Holmes even tried to get the ref to stop the fight in order to save Ali. I'm waiting to see how long the Dems will keep up this charade of having POTUS PJB run for re-election. They need to take grandpa by the arm and tell him to tap out. POTUS PJB doesn't look like he can do another 4 months; certainly not another 4 years. Before November, I think Dems will find a way to get PPJB to step down.
  18. I did read the book introduction thoroughly. The point I was making above is most successful...
  19. https://www.politico.com/news/2024/06/27/aipac-jamaal-bowman-cori-bush-00165174 Coming against Israel does not bode well for American politicians. AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) put up the money to insure Rep. Jamaal Bowman (NY) lost in the primary election. The next chip to fall could be Rep. Cori Bush (Mo). She's in a close primary race too. The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) takes money from non-Black special interest groups. As a result, they have marching orders that have little or nothing to do with helping their Black constituents. Politics is a dirty business. Black politicians aren't remotely interested in playing the game to the advantage of lifting up Black people. They seem to be selling out solely to enrich themselves. I don't feel badly for Black politicians losing their seats especially when they don't deserve to be in the chair.
  20. Right. This is why we need age limits and term limits. There's no shortage of people in America who could step up and do a great job leading the country. The problem is that our political system is broken because it has been corrupted by big money. The BS rolls downhill from there.
  21. No other band can make that claim. The Isley Brothers can own it. However, the most successful, longest tenured band is The Rolling Stones (Bones). I'm glad Ronald and Ernie Isley are still performing and sounding great.
  22. Yikes. The debate was not a good look especially for POTUS PJB. Voters will definitely have to hold noses in November.
  23. It's great to see a book written about the Isley Brothers contribution to music and highlighting how racism carries over into the business of music. The *problem* remains the same. Until Black folks run the businesses and write the narratives, we'll keep getting the shorter end of the deal, accolades and recognition. The Isley Brothers were extremely successful. Sold millions of records. Had millions of fans. Made a lot of money too. Overcame adversities. They're great in the grand scheme.
  24. There will be a presidential debate tomorrow night (June 27th) at 9 pm on CNN. The debate will be between POTUS Joe Biden and former POTUS Donald Trump. Unfortunately, no other POTUS candidates will be onstage including Cornel West and Robert Kennedy Jr. The debate could be similar to 2020 if the geriatric candidates take whatever medication enhances their cognitive abilities. POTUS PJB seems to forget and freeze. Former POTUS Orange Julius has memory lapses and supposedly has a body odor. It's unfortunate that voters have to hold their noses when voting for either of these Rock em Sock em robots in November. The good news is that neither one will be able to run for POTUS in 2028. Not because they're too old or worse. Term limit.
  25. There's no good reason for Black folks to be oppressed. Class is a social construct. Poverty is a condition fueled by human greed. There are plenty places on the planet where homogeneous people live peacefully. No supremacy or domination. In fact, we can see that in Africa where Black folks are the majority, they do not practice Black supremacy. Their biggest problems are greed and corruption instigated by the system of white supremacy. Consumerism and materialism are the opiates Black folks use to anesthestize themselves within the system of white supremacy.
