  1. The decline started in the 80's. I mentioned references that hapened when they were either teenagers or weren't born. However you're a natural born leader. So people will defer to you.
  2. Troy what I mean is you and people that lived pre computer have manners that are lacking these days. The industry is selling bits and experiences that aren't real in exchange for your time and more importantly your money. The people have decided. Trump is a necessary evil. And part if he coming transformation. He ia the flash point.
  3. You're a sociological dinosaur , not a technological one. Trump is the mess we have to collectively clean because he is us or at least some of us. So things atr going according to plan.
  4. Happy Birthday, Troy. Friends are gifts you give to yourself.
  5. Trump is the most unifying divisive President.
  6. There are people uaing technology to actually meet people. Socrates Cafe in Sydney on meetup.com, has thousands of members. People meet once a month to discuss a question. Classbunny.com Laneway. Were strated by a friend of a friend. In New York it used to be learning annex. In the last month i had dinner with twi people i met at Socrates Cafe. I also met my life partner through Socrates Cafe. I think the people on their phones may not be the same people who go out and do stuff and meet people. You also have a network of hackers anarchists and digital protestors. As witnessed by the Global March, which also had a political action plan. Facebook post also has been more informational concerning the T rump and what to do practically. I have seen the future and it will be. - Prince T rump and his methods makes me very optimistic. Hip Hop and Punk became the voice of a generation. Troy and Cynique you are pessimistic, yet you both are a beacon. You make thousands of people think. If three people are touched. They can change the world. People are never ready for change. Thats why we need visionaries explorers, investors and artist. They all show us how to take off the blinkers and see. It is the most exciting time to be on the planet. I am totally certain.
  7. Yeah maybe you are right, but I hope you are not.
  8. I have to say that sometimes i get nostalgic for the freedom that characterised New York nightlife. However I am enjoying my days I'm just more selective about my engagements.
  9. You are sounding like Theodore Kazinski. Yesterday i was on the train and there were four high school kids reading the following : The Help, The wind up Bird Chronicles. I used to take the train from Jamaica to Wall Street to work in 1987. I used to carry two or three books and a walkman. A few people read the paper. Most stared into nothingness. A few people read: romance books were popular with women, Grisham was popular, occasionally commuters read something a bit heavier. I saw a guy walking and reading. I used to do this may start it up again. I have also asked commuters what they are reading and wrote it down or made reading suggestions. Troy you are just seeing the alienation that's always been there. I also had a stranger sit next to me and say can we put our phones down and talk. We did. We interact more through the technology and more deeply than we did in person. But we are dinosaurs. We remember kife before the net... catching flies. Generally you can ask a reader what's the book. Ironically readers are less introverted in that regard.
  10. Some questions of demarcations aren't about boxes. The motive could be curiosity. When someone says my gay friend, my black or (adjective) friend they aren't just hyphenating they are showing their prejudice. Although in practice I agree with your hyphenated stayement Cynique. Just to be clear I neither want to define what is Black. Nor am I interested in fitting in categories that make people comfortable or uncomfortable. I try and spend aome time in different worlds. Is blackness color culture or some combination of the two.
  11. I thought using Who would infer a question.
  12. Note I am asking a question not defining the terms.
  13. Boss Baby or Alpha Male Yeah you may be wrong.
  14. An Alpha Male is the recognised dominant male by everyone below him. You could argue that because Trump is the king then he is the de facto Alpha Male. Which means titles not character make an Alpha Male. For me Alphas have swag because they know they are Alphas. The term is shown in its purest form in both the Animal Kingdom and fairy tales. The Lion must defend his position to the death. The would be King proves he is worthy to marry the Princess and become the King. Also once you become the ruler, you conduct yourself regally. Failure to meet these points and the Kings is dethroned. Also the King is respected not because of petulant demands. Rather because they are worthy of respect. Trump has wealth but neither class nor style. For some it doesn't matter because he has the top spot. So he has passed a test of sorts. Since he won the election. This is also being disputed. So if it turns out that he is removed. Is he still an Alpha Male to you?
  15. Guest MrsMommy How would you define an Alpha Male
  16. The closed in the late 70's. I wa born in the Hunts Point and we moved to the north east. Which was more middle class. The neighborhood and area were changing in the 70's. And by the 80's it was mostly Blacks Jamaicans and a few Hispanics. By 1980 there were only a handful of White people. Yeah Hunts Point was hood. My Grandmother's neignorhood was hood. My childhood neighborhood became more dangerous when Crack was King. The other diffeence was my neighborhood had semi-attached homes. If you went three blocks upnthe Street you were in the projects. We had two number runners they were Mafia. And a Mafia front store. That had a slot machine at one point. So did some other shop. And there was aome store that had illegal gambling in the back.
  17. The US has always been a plutocracy. Only two signers of the Declaration of Independence were working class. So Trump is honoring his promise to make America great. Instead of rilling the clock back to 1920. He's going way back... back in time Jimmy Castor. You can't build a business being Rootless. Those immigrants come from countries. What country can Afro-American claim. None only a hairstyle. What type of leader do you see galvanizing the Souls of Black Folks . In my grandmother's neighborhood near Crotona Park. There were three Black stores right next to each other. And we knew the owners. A Beauty Shop A Barber shop and a little grocery store likehe one in the picture. The Barber shop and the beauty shop were salons in both sentences if the word.
  18. Troy that was my point. Trump is democratic in that he us trying to bring back feudalism.
  19. Both Martin and Malcolm were killed, when they were addressing all of the dispossessed. Which shoukd tell you something. Thanks gir posting. You used to hear this in Black History Month.
  20. The entire country has a slavery mentality. Field Slaves, House Slaves , Black Oveeseer, White Overseer, Massa and Miss Ann. Runaway Slaves. Traitorous Slaves. People may shift between categories. And perhaps some people fit in none of the categories.
  21. Troy you are a visionary and a hunanitarian. The two things gi hand in hand. The reason i check your site is You (I believe in your vision) , Cynique (your mind is like a good knife, sharp and balanced (you balance the Leonine and Cancerian aspects)) the discussions . My goals and visions are more subscribed.
  22. This thread seems to weave it self through topics here. It's like what makes a good speaker the Tweeter or the Woofer. Highs or Lows. Birds or Dogs. Poodles or Pit Bulls. Jessy Norman or Aretha Franklin. Maya Angelou or Dave Chappelle. Who decides or You decide Thinking or Feeling.
