  1. It's pretty obvious that what our past taught us was to try and avoid being sold into slavery. If failing at this, attempting to hook up with Harriet Tubman was a good idea, or if you were really tired of being in bondage, going on a suicide mission with Nat Turner could put an end to that. It goes without saying that the white race had and has supreme power and was and is treacherous and cruel enough to exercise it. If you're looking for a hero from the past, Frederick Douglass would fit the bill. What do you think we should learn from the past?
  2. Hummmmmm. What is your culture so we can figure out if ours is different from yours.
  3. LOL. Please keep sharing your thoughts with us, Mel. You're such a refreshing addition to the roster. What you say is so true. I've watched the first two episodes of Dancing with the Stars and I found it really interesting to observe how the celebrity contestants react to the critiques of their performance by the 3 judges. You could see it in the anxious faces of both the males and the females, the effect praise and rejection for their performances had on them. Here they all are, "rich and famous" yet insecure and fragile. It's like they all needed love and approval sooo bad. Another show I watch is Family Feud, because it is so spontaneous and offers such insight into how people's minds work when they have to think on their feet. I have never heard such stupid crazy answers in my life. And Steve Harvey's reaction is so priceless. As dufus as he is, even he is non-plussed. Sometimes the ones who give the most logical answers are those who you least expect to, while the "smart ones" flop. I also agree with you that marriage is not for everyone and the family does need to be re-defined since the hunters and gatherers' dynamic no longer applies. IMO, there's so much child worship in the current generation of parents and there was a lot of living through their children in the preceding generations. I don't think it's healthy for a mother or her child when the child becomes the center of its mother's universe, or becomes an accessory. Write on!
  4. Fussing with a paranoid pathological alcoholic liar like you is a waste of time. I don't care whether you stay or go. Doesn't make me any difference. Why should it? You over-estimate your impact on this board and your effect on me. I'm gonna say what I want to say to whomever I want to say it to. Just like everybody else does. The only one this is as big deal to is you and your crazy-assed self. So Babble on. LMAO
  5. . As the Superintendent of schools the buck stopped with Barbara Byrd-Bennett. Obviously, closing schools to save money was an unpopular decision with parents of children affected, and this was an afterthought to my original statement in regard to Barbara Byrd-Bennett being forced to resign because of taking bribes, something you want to sanitize. But you can't handle the truth because you are so used to lying, you judge everybody else by your own deceitful dishonest self.
  6. I can speculate just as much as you can about the school board situation. Where are your facts?
  7. You're entitled to your opinion which is predictably a subjective manisfestation of your need to elevate yourself and diss anybody who does not conform to your dictates, or agree with your inflated delusions about your phony, lying, mentally unbalanced self. You don't want black diversity, you want a cookie cutter black population made over in your image because you think you know best. If you got a problem with my being the way I am, tough.
  8. LOL look who's talking about a monolith of thought, when you go into a snit if somebody expresses a view different from your agenda. That's why you're peeing all over yourself about your video clip inspiring questions.
  9. Why don't you, instead of making an obnoxioxus nusiance of yourself on Cynique's Corner??
  10. Why don't you post what you are referring to verbatim instead of trying to get in where you don't fit in because you don't belong anywhere except with a pack of lying mentally disturbed fools. Pitiful.
  11. Who's research and recommendations were Rahm Emanuel following?
  12. Always revealing to hear from lying sara, doing what she does best, which is to lie and distort because it is her innate nature do this; can't help herself. tsk-tsk Which is also why she probably only posted a part of the clip that she wants praise and attention for doing, another one of her pathetic needs.
  13. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TROY! HAVE A GOOD ONE.
  14. "Each one, teach one" is a philosophy that, in its own small way, can make waves and have positive effects.
  15. Well, seeing as how Barbara Byrd Bennett, Chicago's highly-paid, black female Superintendent of Schools was recently forced to resign after the Feds found out she was in cahoots with a consultant company that paid her thousands in kickbacks, I have to say that I'd give her an "A" when it came to emulating corrupt white officials who get caught and are smeared by the MEDIA. One of the demands quoted in an E-maIl that helped seal her doom was what she wrote to one of her partners-in- crime who apparently was draggin his feet on her money: "I have tuitions to pay and Casinos to visit".. Black mothers of Chicago school children were especially saddened and disappointed because during Byrd's tenure she was instrumental in closing schools with low enrollment causing students to have to walk further to other schools through crime-infested neighborhoods.
  16. Well, Pioneer, I am of the opinion that West and Smiley were suffering from serious cases of bruised egos. I think that because he supported Obama's presidential run, Cornel thought he was going to become one of the resident black academics in Obama's white house inner circle and Obama snubbed. him. And Tavis was quite miffed and obviously hurt that Obama declined to appear at the big black think tank convention he sponsored and which ran on C-Span. I really believe Ben Carson was jealous of Obama because Barak stole a lot of his "Super Negro" thunder and Ben always had a lot of snide things to say about him. I think, too, that there was a certain element among black leaders who may not have wanted to be president, but who thought they could do a better job than Barack was doing and, again, this includes Carson.
  17. These caveats are reminiscent of the advice Ta-Nehisi Coates wrote in the book "Between The World and Me", a letter to his son, counsel he didn't closely follow himself, but still managed to become rich and successful. To me, the idea that parents should adhere to a list of 26 dos and don'ts when it comes to raising children is a bit much. For one thing, what works with one child doesn't always work with another, and subjecting your kids to a stringent regimen of rules to live by is unrealistic. Flexibility should be exercised and they should be given some slack so they can learn from their mistakes and absorb the learning experience that comes with the trial and error process. Providing a stable loving home, setting boundaries and guidelines, relying on your instincts and using your good judgment is all parents can do without stifling their children. IMO.
  18. BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. YADA. YADA. YADA. STFU LOL
  19. BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. I don't care what you think. And you don't care what I think so put a sock in it. ZZZZZZZZZZZZ
  20. To broaden a discussion and because I am into ZEN and Existentialism, I frequently take POVS that read between the lines, or are outside the box. I'm jaded and burnt-out when it comes to the same ol dialogue and the sacro-sanct. If this offends people, then so be it. I am not seeking approval.
  21. I was talking to Troy. You can't handle the truth.
  22. Actually it is a dream speech. These words were uttered over 50 years ago and what came of King's plans? Did they "dry up like a raisin in the sun"? BTW, I am interested in the particulars of who provided the money and land for all the "A&M" historical black colleges and universities. Did our white supremist government patronizingly throw a few crumbs to its black slave descendants to pacify them? I like to deal with the whole picture because I seek the "truth". I'm weary of rhetoric and endless debate. The ramifications of "race" seem never-ending.
  23. This thread is a jumbo of who said this about what, and my name is mentioned. The only time I said anything about "fighting fire with fire and power with power" was when i denied saying it. Quoted below is my take on the subject of white supremacy.
  24. Since I'm the only other lady posting here, you are indeed paraphrasing what i said and i wish you'd be more specific about which post I said this in. White supremacy is a subject that lends itself to great debate and interpretation. Anybody who defines what white supremacy is, should also be prepared to expound on how to eliminate it. What we get is a bunch of opinions all of which seemed to be based on the idea that there is rhyme or reason to this thing called Life. But is there? Or is it that white supremacy is a fluid dynamic which, although ubiquitous, varies from situation to situation, Being white is no guarantee that a person will thrive better than his black counterpart; what it guarantees is that whites have a head start in an attempt to do this and if an individual can't cut the mustard, he will have to settle for the consolation prize of feeling that he is better than others. This world is full of poor, down and out white failures, shuffling around trailer parks, smokin meth, collecting welfare, feeling superior to black people. Are they winners or losers? There are also millions of blacks who are staying under the white supremacy radar, acquiring degrees and skills getting ahead in life. This does not follow the script of how to defeat white supremacy but it does serve as an analogy of the real world. Karma is a spiritual dynamic that preaches what goes around, comes around. Is this true? Or is it just another way of saying that things go in cycles; and in the long natural process of this, the flexible survive. Where white supremacy exerts its most influence is in the ministering of justice. It works better for whites than it does for people of color, but what does this prove? Justice and equality are elusive because they are no match for the money and power that stays in the hands of people who call themselves superior. It is, what it is. Life doesn't give a damn about good and bad or right or wrong; that's why man had to conjure up religion and its promise of an after life where everything is rosy. Talk is cheap. If it was worth anything, white supremacy would've been bought out centuries ago. Ka-Ching! IMHO. LOL
  25. All these black male Obama critics are proving, is that the office of the President of the United States is a position that amounts to nothing more than being the captive of The Establishment, something they, themselves, say all the time. then seem surprised and indignant when they are proven right. Do they think Obama would have been elected and re-elected without the vote of white liberals? Do they think as much opposition as he met being a moderate, that ranting about racism and making demands would've reaped any results? Can these green-with- envy-black men acknowledge that when he did speak about racial injustice, and he did do this, he spoke not as a black man who was president but as a president who was a back man and that millions of black people agreed with his approach because not all blacks are radical? Or did his black critics give him the courtesy of being the loyal opposition because they immediately turned into "Haters". BTW, one of the powers behind the throne in Obama's case, is his mentor from Chicago, a black woman named Valerie Jarrett, a "Svengali" who insiders say wields a lot of influence and shapes many of his policies. Obama did run on an "audacity of hope" agenda and it's not his fault that it did not survive a reality check. But his presidency is not without accomplishments and historians will undoubtedly give him a passing grade. I don't defend Obama because I am a big fan, because I have issues with him also, petty and personal though they may be. For one thing, I have never considered him an authentic black man because his ancestors did not pay their dues as slaves and slave descendents. What pleases me is that in his final months in office, Obama is pardoning many black small-time drug dealers who were given harsh sentences. The Cornel West crowd are the same people who are backing Bernie Sanders and if he wins, they, may be placated by what Sanders speaks out about but, in my opinion, will be disappointed when it comes to his promises being kept.
