  1. In a “breaking News” email from the Wall Street Journal... Nike Pulls ‘Betsy Ross Flag’ Sneaker After Colin Kaepernick Intervenes Nike is yanking a U.S.A.-themed sneaker featuring an early American flag after former NFL star-turned-activist Colin Kaepernick told the company it shouldn’t sell a shoe with a symbol that he and others consider offensive, according to people familiar with the matter. See More Coverage › What?! This whole scenario is crazy on so many levels... Does Nike think they are "woke" as a result? Is Colin really that soft that he finds a stupid sneaker offensive. That sport he got booted from is way more offensive in the way they treat their athletes most of whom are Black. If a flag offends him he could not walk down the street of many neighborhoods without having his fragile sensibilities offended. Of all the news that the Wall Street Journal could have shared with me today -- this is what they decided to share. Obviously their algorithms are working cause they knew what would peak my interest (I'm sharing the article here). But I'm not sharing any more of their nonsense "news." It just drives them to cover silly interactions between a greedy corporation and the childish Black athletes they are exploiting. @CDBurns I hope you scored a few pair before they were pulled. Colin has driven the price of these sneakers through the roof on the secondary markets. I saw one site selling the shoes for $2,500. Colin next time you find a shoe offense let me know before you tell Nike so I can buy a few pair. You simply can't make this shit up.

  4. @Cynique Brittney Griner had visited Russia before. Perhaps she thought she was becoming so well known and so well liked she could get away with certain things. I doubt her association with Paul Whelan is helping her. He's a former U.S. Marine accused of spying. She's a famous civilian hostage. There is a lot of opposition to attempts to free Brittney. A lot of people said she deserves her sentence because she sided with Colin Kaepernick in his anthem kneeling protests. She's been accused of not liking her own country.
  5. It’s been approximately two years since Colin Kaepernick decided not to stand for the national anthem to bring awareness and to protest against police brutality. His peaceful protest has garnered support and criticism from people of all races and political affiliations around the world and it has definitely shined the light on the issue of race here in America. In an effort to keep NFL protesters from following in Colin’s footsteps, the NFL recently implemented a new policy that condemns players from protesting from the sidelines during the national anthem. The league will issue a fine to any player who they judge is “disrespecting” the flag by not standing. As an alternative, the league says a player has the right to protest, but to do so he must stay in the locker room if he is unwilling to stand during the anthem. This new policy contradicts everything America is supposed to stand for. The 1st Amendment clearly states: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. Herein lies the hypocrisy of the leagues new policy. The founding fathers felt it was important to give every human being the freedom and the right to free speech and peaceful protest. Yet the new policy does just the opposite. It punishes players who are exercising their constitutional rights. On the surface it appears this country is headed in the wrong direction in regards to race. We have a president who refuses to condemn the actions of a neo-Nazi hate group, we have far too many incidences of police brutality, we have black men being arrested in coffee shops simply because of the color of their skin and we have a country that has not figured out that diversity is actually its greatest asset. Based on these things alone I can understand why there is so much pessimism and negativity in regards to race. And yet I remain optimistic about the future of race relations in this country. I remain optimistic because of people like Colin Kaepernick. People who choose to take a stand (or a knee) for something and are willing to do whatever it takes to insure that this country lives up to its promise of being land of the free and home of the brave. I’m reminded of a quote by Dr. Steven Covey from his bestselling book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People in which he stated, “seek first to understand, and then be understood.” This quote truly captures how American society could address race relations going forward, and use Colin’s protest as an opportunity for growth and transformation. At first glance, it is understandable why so many people are upset about Colin not standing for the national anthem. To some, it appears that he is disrespecting the flag and this country. This is the result of mainstream media focusing on some comments made by the current president. Here are just a few of his comments which took the issue away from police brutality and reframed it into an issue of disrespecting the flag. "Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'Get that son of a b---- off the field right now. Out. He's fired! He's fired!'" Yes, that is a direct quote from the president of the United States! Although the protest was never about disrespecting the flag or our country, once the president made that comment the media ran with it and it didn’t take long for his comments to become the focus of the protest. If we are willing to look a little deeper and fully understand the motives of his protest we would see that it has always been about the unnecessary killing of black men in America and in no way does that disrespect our country. As I am reminded of the incidences of police brutality against black men in this country, I can immediately empathize with Colin’s protest. I can relate to his anger, frustration, and sadness about watching too many men of color needlessly lose their lives, and then have their perpetrators walk away without being held accountable for their actions. Understanding breeds compassion, and if we are willing to simply see this point of view, then we can recognize that this is the core of his protest. No matter how the media attempts to frame Colin’s demonstration, I believe this is the primary reason he refused to stand. This leads us to the question: Is Colin’s protest unpatriotic? Herein is the great American hypocrisy. The dictionary defines a patriot as: “a person who vigorously supports their country and is prepared to defend it against enemies or detractors.” Isn’t this exactly what Colin is attempting to do? He recognizes that American citizens are being killed and he is taking a stand against this crisis. How can this be viewed as unpatriotic? His actions are the highest form of patriotism. He is willing to not only sacrifice his livelihood for what he believes, he is actually willing to put his life on the line (he has received several death threats) in an attempt to make America better by bringing attention to the fact that too many men of color are being senselessly and unnecessarily killed. According to Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report (www.bleacherreport.com), several NFL league officials actually hate Colin and his stance. Here are just a few quotes from top NFL officials: "I don't want him anywhere near my team," one executive told Freeman. "He's a traitor." Said another exec, "He has no respect for our country. F— that guy." And from a general manager, "In my career, I have never seen a guy so hated by front office guys as Kaepernick." So, is it patriotic for a man to be hated simply because he is attempting to stop the killing of innocent Americans? Think about that for a moment. In regards to the military, this is what they fight for. Service men and women fight for our right to speak out, defend our country, and use our freedom of speech to help improve this country. They aren’t fighting for us to be silent when it comes to addressing issues within the confines of America. If we aren’t willing to speak out to make America better, should that not be considered unpatriotic? In a lot of ways, the Colin Kaepernick story is a microcosm of being a black man in America. On one hand, if we take a stand and speak out against social injustice, we are accused of being angry black men who hate America. On the other hand, if we aren’t attempting to resolve the problems in our own communities, we are called lazy and indifferent to the challenges of black men in America. As I’ve watched and listened to some of the opinions voiced by black men, I can only imagine how difficult it must be for Colin. There are some black men who attacked and vilified him for his stance while others embraced and supported his decision to protest. As a man who happens to be black, I can definitely relate to this conundrum. For most of my life, I have been accused of being a sellout because of my optimism and belief that nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it, even if you’re black. I have been criticized, ostracized, and accused of being blind to the challenges facing black men in this country. Sometimes it feels like a no win situation. But you can’t please everyone, so it’s important to be clear on what you stand for and not be affected by the thoughts and opinions of others. And now I would like to answer the question I posed at the beginning: Is Colin Kaepernick helping or hurting black men in America? I believe he is definitely helping black men, and more importantly, he is helping America. I say this because his actions ignited a debate about police brutality and race and a few years from now, I believe he will be recognized and acknowledged for his willingness to take a stand (or in this case a knee) against an issue that has been pushed under the American rug for far too long. In the long run, I believe he will be recognized as a powerful change agent whose actions moved this country forward and ultimately created the change he wanted to see. Thank you, Colin Kaepernick for teaching me that you do not necessarily have to stand up in order to love your country. You can kneel and love your country even when most people around you will accuse you of being a traitor. I choose to kneel with you!

  7. The New York Post reported yesterday; "Colin Kaepernick has inked a book deal worth just over $1 million with Random House imprint One World, Page Six has exclusively learned. One World’s headed by book world superstar Chris Jackson, who also publishes Jay-Z and Ta-Nehisi Coates. He launched One World last year." One World was founded in 1992 and was on the leading edge of imprints created to meet the demand of books dedicated to African Americans; a period which only lasted about a decade. One World has been relaunched, and Chris Jackson has been named Publisher and editor-in-chief of One World, which arguably makes him the most powerful Black man in mainstream publishing. It will be interesting to see how this book sells. It will probably make the NY TImes Bestsellers list because the publisher has the wherewithal to make that happen given the subject, but to earning out a million dollar advance will be a challenge. But even if the book does not earn out One World can still make a tidy sum. But time will tell. Maybe Chris can bring another dimension to the story; Colin being blacklisted from the NFL, how 45 changed the narrative, and how the coverage of football games has steered completely away from the National Anthem. Well if One World profits from this particular book, at least two Black men will benefit from Colin's protest.
  8. Color Of Change FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 4, 2017 CONTACT: Mark Ro Beyersdorf, mark@berlinrosen.com Black Activists and Ravens Fans Call on Baltimore Ravens to Sign Colin Kaepernick Ravens headquarters is overwhelmed by hundreds of phone calls asking the team to sign Kaepernick NEW YORK—Staff at Baltimore Ravens Headquarters are now hanging up or refusing to take comments in support of Colin Kaepernick as Ravens fans, Black activists, and Kaepernick supporters inundate the team with hundreds of phone calls asking the Ravens to sign Kaepernick. The Ravens’ egregious silencing of this outpouring of support for Kaepernick comes after the team’s executives publicly stated that they wanted to hear from fans as they made their decision. The effort to support Kaepernick is being driven by Color Of Change, the nation’s largest online civil rights organization, which has launched a website to mobilize calls in support of Kaepernick to Ravens Headquarters and is running digital ads on the front page of The Baltimore Sun’s website calling on the Ravens to sign Kaepernick. Kaepernick, who has been a free agent since March, has yet to be signed by an NFL team following his high-profile refusal to stand during the national anthem in the 2016 season in protest of police brutality and violence against Black people. He ended the 2016 NFL season with 2,241 passing yards, sixteen passing touchdowns, four interceptions, added 468 rushing yards as well as two rushing touchdowns. He is the only player with a top 50 selling jersey who has not been signed and he is the best quarterback currently on the market as the Ravens face the upcoming football season with an injured first-string quarterback and a failing second-string quarterback. “The refusal of NFL owners to sign Kaepernick is not about football—it’s about fear of Black peoples’ free speech,” said Rashad Robinson, Executive Director of Color Of Change. “It is deeply disturbing that team owners in the NFL—which has no Black owners even as nearly seventy percent of league’s players are Black—won’t sign a star who engages in peaceful protest to support his community. Colin Kaepernick speaks for so many of us, and silencing him sends a message to every football viewer that the concerns of Black communities are not valid. Signing Kaepernick should be a no brainer for the Ravens. As the home team of city that has been rife with racial tension for years, the Ravens should welcome the opportunity to send a message that they, too, want to see our country get to a better place. Our country was founded on protest and has been made better by oppressed communities continuing to protest and fight to open institutions that shut us out, including professional sports leagues. At time when pro football teams seem to have no problem signing domestic abusers, it is the NFL’s actions that require scrutiny—not Kaepernick’s heartfelt commitment to justice for Black communities.” Last year, Color of Change launched a petition in support of Colin Kaepernick that has received over 90,000 signatures. Since then, Color Of Change has continued to support Kaepernick and challenged other attempts to limit the free speech of Black communities. ### Color Of Change is the nation’s largest online racial justice organization. We help people respond effectively to injustice in the world around us. As a national online force driven by over one million members, we move decision-makers in corporations and government to create a more human and less hostile world for Black people in America. 9. That's not going to change anything. Here's why: These NFL teams are privately owned companies and the Denver Broncos will still be, no matter what group purchases the club. And Black people, despite being loyal fans, simply cannot compete when it comes to money and social influence with other pressure groups. Or has anyone forgotten the complete failure to press the NFL to give Colin Kaepernick another starting QB position? Sometimes, social demands do not work. NFL teams mint money and their owners are looking carefully at demographics, media coverage and ad revenue. I do not believe any of those aggrieved over the lack of Black BFL coaches get it. If you mount a drawn out pressure campaign, this is going to be the likely result: 1) You are going to piss off many fans who ordinarily don't care what color their team's coach or manager is. As long as their team is successful at winning. But if you make this an unavoidable issue, you will force such ones to choose a side. Don't expect to win a lot of support. Rightly or wrongly, you'll be viewed just as you were during the Colin Kaepernick drama: As irritants taking attention away from the sport. 2) In this era of heightened and violent political discourse, you may actually create more social and news media hatred against innocent Black children, mothers and fathers who are not swept up in your pressure campaign. 3) If a Black coach or a manager is hired and then fails to win, they will probably be fired. That is a fact of life. You cannot order any profitable business to lose money to suit your personal tastes. This may not happen to Brian Flores, who landed as assistant coach's gig with the Pittsburgh Steelers. But often, when teams do fire a coach or a manager - sometimes all their assistants go as well. I just don't get all this needless angst. Not having a Black NFL coach isn't getting our people gunned down by the police, by gangbangers or racist Whites. It's not making our children undereducated by attending poorly funded public schools or costing us political representation in Congress. But our lack of Voting Rights does. And THAT is what we Blacks need to be focusing on. It's the same old silliness with many of us. We worry about the type of decoration on a cake instead of noticing we rarely get a slice.
  10. Well I'm super glad that you all have refuted the propaganda and outright lies that Daniellegfny and others relentlessly to post. @daniellegfny it is crystal clear from this post that you are not interested in advancing your knowledge. When you first posted that Biden was giving away crack pipes it was clear that you did not read the grant. Your posts about Colin Kaepernick and Critical Race theory were similar: you make an false statement, you are shown the truth, then you react by bring in more erroneous information while never addressing the original false statement. A reasonable person would acknowledge the error and move on -- but you continue to push the lie (it is a lie now because you know the truth). The question one is forced to ask is, why? Why do you continue to push something that is clearly a lie, like saying Colin Kaepernick called for the killing of police? (Did you remove that comment Danillegfny?) What are you trying to accomplish? Why continue to push the idea that Biden is handing out crack pipes? What is in it for you? There is plenty one can critique Biden on without making stuff up. Honestly, what is your motivation?
  11. Dude, seriously, a pundit you are not. You routinely ignore facts and truths. Colin Kaepernick crystallized the Police Brutality issue in a manner no else could have.
  12. Dude, you DO NOT READ! You pop all this crap but when truth is posted, you don't bother reading it. And it shows in your oblivious comments. For your information, Colin Kaepernick is NOT anti-American at all and actually had the support of many U.S. veterans. You just sided with the Racist in Chief, Trump. Why? Because you never read.
  13. Brotha Colin Kaepernick will one day be recognized as a modern day hero for AfroAmericans. He doesn't hate America nor the police. He took a stand (knee) against supremacy and police brutality in America. It took 4 years for the NFL to acknowlege what he was trying to tell them with his protest. Unfortunately, not enough AfroAmericans took a knee with him. Here we are almost 6 years after Kap took a knee and a former black head coach had to file a lawsuit in order for the NFL to admit it that it has a diversity problem within the coaching ranks. AfroAmericans need more heroes like Colin Kaepernick and Brian Flores. I hope they continue using their platform to usher in a new era of black activism.

  17. LeBron James Says This The --Reason Quarterback Colin Kaepernick Was Kneeling Down Much respect for Lebron for using his platform as a super star to speak out on these issues, but he's kind of wrong on this one...... The REAL reason Kaepernick began kneeling in protest (which in my opinion appears to show MORE respect for the flag and national anthem than simply not standing for it) is because a CAUCASIAN man whispered in his ear and tricked him into it. I forgot what he was doing originally, but after this Caucasian man who was a military veteran had a meeting with him and gassed him up about how much he respected his cause and offered the idea of how it would be better and more effective if he "took a knee" in protest....then Colin began doing it and some other sheeple followed suit. Deceptive intelligence. This should be a lesson that we shouldn't let those from outside of our community talk us into doing things we're not sure about doing.
  18. Those who have rarely been the target of organized police gangsterism are once again lecturing those who have about how best to respond to it. Be peaceful, they implore, as protesters rise up in Minneapolis and across the country in response to the killing of George Floyd. This, coming from the same people who melted down when Colin Kaepernick took a knee — a decidedly peaceful type of protest. Because apparently, when white folks say, “protest peacefully,” we mean “stop protesting.” Read the entire article by Tim Wise. https://medium.com/@timjwise/violence-never-works-really-e0af884c03b4
  19. @Kareem I remember someone said something like this government needs to be overhauled. I think it was Colin Kaepernick. Yeah. Exactly. Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!! @Troy I, at once, believed this, but oh no, she is not 'a lesser of two evils', her camp is just as bad. I read where, she lived and worked around Black males--prisoners [?] and they were male servants, in the govenors house and it was later deemed as slavery--free labor. Then, about a month before elections, in Haiti, a major portest broke out, and the Haitians were protesting at the embassy due to Hilary and Bill, and it had to do with certain issues, one of which was being severely underpaid and another had to do with funds not going to relief of the hurricane. I don't understand it all, but I have heard enough to know something is wrong. Thank you!!!!!!! I am not going to support homosexual-pediphilia. That was a horrible agenda and I am still angry about that! @Troy Good question, I will think about this. I know @Delano is not here in America right now, but I wonder what he would say. @Kareem There you go!!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!!
  20. So I guess mulattos like Colin Kaepernick and Aeshya Curry are going to be among the new spokesperson's for AfroAmerican issues. Or better yet.....the KARDASHIANS can also be spokespersons! When it comes to AfroAmerican isssues, Trump seems to be paying more attention to and granting favors for KIM KARDASHIAN than even Kanye, Jim Brown, Steve Harvey or any other AfroAmerican jockying for his attention.

He had planned to meet with Los Angeles Police Department officials to discuss ways to fight gang violence in the city. The murals have popped up all week following Hussle's death. 22. @Pioneer1What you claim is more blurred than clear. Lesbianism isn't being pushed specifically onto the black community by feminists. Another figment of your rampant imagination along with your paranoid delusions about the media suddenly promoting black women over black men. This is not a recent occurrence, and certainly not a priority of a white media preoccupied by the ominous specter of Trumpism. Going out of its way to favor black women over black men is not high on the to-do list of a media that is the voice of a white America so polarized that the prospect of civil unrest has become a real possibility. Who really cares about a contest between black males and females when the country is in turmoil? You also assume that all a black woman has to do is decide that she wants to hook up with white men and it's a done deal. As if black women can easily compete equally with white women and those of other ethnicities. Unless they are high profile celebrities, they can't, which is why the majority of them have never given up on finding their black "Mr. Right". The white media isn't promoting black women. What is the advantage of doing this? It's not like black men pose a genuine threat. It is simply reporting what independent black women are doing and have always done. Why? Because this is interesting OpEd material. Moreover, because you are so fixated on the idea of black women being so overwhelmed by powerful white men that they have abandoned black men, what needs to be brought to your attention is that a black man named Barack Obama who was flushed with credentials, including a respectable reputation as a husband and father, ascended to the highest office in the land, enabled and empowered by black women and the media. Sistas remained loyal to him through out his presidency. Yet who were, and still are, among Obama's harshest critics? Other black men. Sniping and grumbling about the job he was doing. calling him a sell-out, reluctant now to give him credit for any accomplishments, as the crabs in a barrel syndrome is still going on. Here on this board, all the black female posters supported Colin Kaepernick taking a knee. And what were you doing? Pooh-poohing Colin, opting to grumble about Bill Cosby being a victim, luke warm about condemning the likes of RKelly and Jussie Smolette. Puleeze.
  23. i do defend black men when i agree with them. i never stopped taking up for Colin Kaepernick, unlike you. I had no reason to defend Cosby and his lecherous behavior. Black folks blew off whites who wanted Obama to distance himself from Reverend Jeremiah Wright's incendiary racial remarks during his campaign, but they observe a different standard when it comes to white folks who were products of their time before they later changed their views. This latest incident is another distraction that helps to fragment the Democratic party and it supplies ammunition for the Republicans. By the time 2020 rolls around, all of these Democratic candidates and the constant in-fighting will just hand the election to Trump. Unacceptable. This governor has learned his lesson by default and wouldn't dare to anything else to offend his black constituency. Plus it's now surfacing that the black lieutenant governor who would be in line to succeed him, is rumored to have been charged with sexual harassment. It's always something!
  24. The white woman who accused the black 9 year old of groping her, has gone online and issued an apology after viewing a security video which showed it was the boy's book bag which brushed up against her ass. The guy who fired his rifle at a fleeing black teenager who knocked on his door looking for directions, has been found guilty of attempted murder. Supreme Court Chief Justice Roberts has ordered several federal judges to investigate ethics complaints brought against Brett Kavanaugh. Harvard University has presented Colin Kaepernick with the WEB DuBois award it gives out every year to an outstanding black person. Donald Trump's approval ratings have risen slightly... You win some, you lose some.
  25. What a week this has been! Here around Chicago, everybody was holding their collective breaths waiting for the verdict to come down after the Prosecution rested its case against Jason Van Dyke, the white cop, who mowed down LaQuan McDonald, a black teenager walking away from him with a knife clutched in his hand. Because Van Dyke felt threatened by this situation, his reaction was to empty his gun in the back of this young man, riddling his body with 16 bullets. This killing was covered up by Chicago law enforcement with the cooperation of other cops on the scene who did not feel similarly threatened but later chose to observe the oath of silence rather than betray their trigger-happy comrade. The truth finally came to light when rumors that this incident was captured on a body cam reached the media, after which the tape was finally released under pressure, and once it was aired all over TV, outrage was immediate at the sight of the young man being hit in the back and falling to the ground as a hail of bullets continued to puncture his shuddering body. Heads soon began to roll. The Cook County States Attorney was voted out of office, and the Mayor withdrew his plans to run for re-election, so great was the black community's resentment against him. After 3 years of finger-pointing and political mayhem, the perpetrator was finally indicted for murder and brought to trial, his case lasting over a month as a stream of experts and witnesses provided dramatic testimony. Much speculation also centered around a jury made up of 6 women and 4 men, 1 Asian, 1 Hispanic, 1 Black and the rest White. Once word came down that the verdict had been reached and would soon be announced, Chicago was literally on lock down, anticipating trouble in case an innocent verdict caused all hell to break loose. Extra police were dispatched everywhere, workers were sent home from their jobs early, businesses were closing up shop. crowds gathering outside the court house. But Lady justice got her due. After 2 days of deliberation, the jury found Jason Van Dyke guilty of second degree murder, his sentence to be determined by a judge whom everybody has described as being very fair. There was also praise for the all-white prosecution team who presented a strong effective case for the State. So, this is a victory in a war that has yet to be won. Colin Kaepernick, can feel a little compensated. Then, there was the clash for the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh, for Supreme Court Justice that has now ended in his being sworn in. It's impossible for me to pass any impartial judgment on this case because i have such a visceral dislike for Kavanaugh, his supporters and his president. I cannot stomach these Republicans and what "making America great again" means to them. In my gut, however, I know that, as flawed as they are, Liberal and Progressive Democrats and Moderate Independent representatives would be better for the nation's survival than those Red-neck racists, and White privileged conservatives and Blue collar bigots who infest this country and will now be in a position to bring about a change for the worst. Donald Trump is a despicable person who is not the caliber of man who should be President of the United States and leader of the free world. And the fact that millions of white people, especially white men, feel this way, too, is proof of how he is not only a disgrace but a threat to the survival of America.
