It was not intended as anything more than that, because I don't know of a solution for Black folks to achieve independence in the context of this society. Maybe we can all just move to Wakanda . We can at least control our books can't we? Two people on Destee are giving me a hard time because I have not seen the Black Panther movies. I started reading Science Fiction in 4th grade. That is why I decided to go to college for engineering in 7th grade. I am into Hard Science Fiction however. Realism matters! The following books have a problem because they were written by a White man. I have difficulty trying to imagine a Black man getting them published in '61. So far no Black person has given me an opinion on them. umbrarchist Posted June 17 Report Posted June 17 I just found this: "Curiouser & Curiouser", said Alice So this thread is from Trump's first term and he had not been allowed to go totally crazy. Now we got a whole nother level of crazy and the Racism is Off the Leash. It is difficult to for me to understand why I find this shit so funny. Planned Obsolescence with economists ignoring depreciation is just high technology slavery to me and the slave masters are too dumb to figure it out.
umbrarchist Posted June 17 Report Posted June 17 I still haven't seen Black Panther. I have avoided what I call Comic Book Movies for decades. And I like technological realism in my science fiction.

I pay more attention to books than movies and many are "just entertainment". But movies can be more than entertainment also. I do not consider "The Matrix" to be Just Entertainment. I have thought "Should I watch Black Panther just so I can talk to other people about it and probably disagree?" Black Americans lack of interest in understanding technology bugs me. Just watching clips of the movie demonstrates that, for that society to work a lot of Black people not in the forefront would Have to Know Technology. But that does not seem to matter to the audience. .

A serious musician h8tes most popular commercial music due to its simplicity. A 5-star chef may have a harder time enjoying a meal from a fast food joint. The main priorities of the average person are 1) survival and 2) enjoying life. As a result, most people master technology just well enough to satisfy #1 and #2.

How much technology can most Black Americans live without today? And many companies are deliberately making garbage so it impacts economics. I never saw the word benchmark when I was at IBM. I had to write my own. Boy was I in for a surprise. .

It's all relative to one's interest and/or position. Black Americans can live without a deep knowledge of technology as long as they have access to it. Just like bibles, most user manuals for technology remain in like new condition because folks don't bother to read them.

How much have Americans lost on the depreciation of automobiles since Sputnik because auto makers produce useless variations in cars? There is a concept called a Bathtub Curve. It graphs the durability and reliability of some device. The potential buyer does not need to know how the device works. But producing lots of unreliable junk increases GDP for our glorious economists.

The real question is why do most people not care about the depreciation of automobiles and the production of useless variations and unreliable junk. Just like s8 and drugs and baby oil for some, gross consumerism allows people to enjoy their lives for the limited amount of time they will spend on the planet.

The Laws of Physics work the way they work regardless of people caring or believing. If PO is happening that means unnecessary manufacturing and shipping resulting in more CO2. So talking about sustainability without addressing planned obsolescence is nonsense. The times they been a'changin'. Johnny Harris Economics 1950s
