  3. Yesterday I sold more books than I did during my best month of sales when selling as an Amazon affiliate -- just one day of sales. Sales the day before that beat yesterday! The surge in sales has been experienced by every indie bookseller I have spoken to. After this post I will spend the next 10 to 12 hours processing book orders! I went to bed too tired to process yesterdays outstanding orders -- that has never happened. Customers, thankfully have been more than understanding -- this has simply been inspiring One long term booksellers told me he has never seen anything like this in 50 years in the book business! I am reaching out to you today to request a review of my recently published book, The Gospel According to a Black Woman (Published Sunday, November 15, 2020). Through the use of prose, poetry, and fiction, this book explores the possibilities of what can happen when Black women are taken seriously and our truth respected, rather than ignored and co-opted. It challenges what some might consider to be traditional views of faith, culture, and society, suggesting that these views are what actually confine and constrain Black women. The book's genre encompasses African American spirituality, and focuses on Black Women. Here are other details: ISBN: 979-86780203…

  7. Say It Loud! Great Speeches on Civil Rights and African-American Identity Say It Loud is titled after the classic 1969 James Brown anthem ‘Say It Loud, I’m Black and I’m Proud.’ This anthology is meant to illuminate the evolution of ideas and debates pulsing through the black freedom struggle from the 1960s to the present and the way these arguments are suffused with basic questions about what it means to be black in America.” -- Excerpted from the Preface (pg. ix)

In I noticed there were hundreds of books that I've sold, over the last three years, through Amazon's affiliate program, for a penny! I, as the book seller, don't make any money (commissions on a $0.01 sale is $0.00) and the author does not make any extra money--that is assuming they made royalties off the book in the first place. I have to believe some of these books selling for a penny never made it into the marketplace. The the only entities who profit off of these sales are the shipping companies and Amazon. While the book costs one cent the shipping cost is usually $3.99, which is where the profit is generated. At any rate, I've listed below a f…

Hi: I never expected to be a writer until I started hearing the voice of a Southern, African American woman. With her first words, “It’s not what happened to me that matters,” I felt compelled to share rememberings of her teenage years, and the wisdom revealed throughout the book. Narrated by Addie Mae Aubrey, with my own experience bookending the story, Trusting the Currents is a journey of self-discovery and the uneasy search for one’s place in life. Beginning at age eleven with the arrival of beautiful, mysterious cousin Jenny and her shadowy stepfather, Uncle Joe, Trusting the Currents explores Addie Mae’s reluctant awakening. As Jenny, the story’s m…

  20. When I was born, I weighed two pounds, three ounces. The doctor who examined me told my mother, "Congratulations, Mrs. Pryor, you have a boy! No, wait, it's a girl! No, it is a boy!" Mom cried, "What did I have? A freak?" Yes and No. My freakish life parallels my father's in many ways: a Peoria whorehouse, abuse, alcohol and drug addiction, and frequent bad decisions. But I survived. And that's what my book is about, a real life story of overcoming obstacles, surviving and thriving. Learn more about the book at https://inapryorlife.com/

It was soooo tempting to name this book something else because the title has been used before in music and literature But Coleman Hawkins' 1939 jazz classic is so prevalent in the story, I thought, WHY NOT? I wrote this while stuck at at home for the last 3.5 years since my 30-year-old handicapped van died on me, and I live in rural USA, seven miles from the closest public transportation. Also, my electric wheelchair wouldn't make it that far. So, I escaped into this world of tragedy and good fortune mixed together, and now I invite you to join me on this journey from Louisiana to California. 29. THE ARGUMENT MUST BE MADE: STREET LIT VERSUS TRADITIONAL URBAN LIT No matter what your reading pursuit or literary background, it will pretty much be agreed upon that one of literature’s first edict to writers was to entertain. This edict appears in all fictional literature and carries the almost explicit verdict of literary law, but no sooner than urban readers began that quest, they divided the realm of literary pursuits into two contrasting genres: Tradition urban lit and the more liberal street lit. Oddly enough, it was this fictional duality that set African-American readers upon their first literary turning point, and what evolved would forever alte…
