  1. @Pioneer1 no, Tariq's own behavior illustrates why his point is impossible to implement. If Tari himself demonstrates no ability or desire to adhere to it himself? I remember the video of Tariq going in on Dr. Umar. I actually agreed with much of what Tariq said but I completely disagreed with how he said it. It was actually childish. I lost a lot of respect for Tariq as a result of watching tha video. So while you or I would not disrespect another Black man for a white audience. Many successful Brothers will and do; Tariq is a perfect example. No one ever gave me a code... This is just self respect and respect for one's people, which should come somewhat naturally. No code is needed. Maybe all we need is solidarity to each other rather than to personal gain.
  2. @Pioneer1 That is interesting but doesn't seem to make sense and here is why; You believe that the African trait of bushy hair is more recessive than straight hair!? So even though this hair type is unique of having bushy hair, you believe that White Europeans and East Indians with straight hair are more dominant and again, that bushy hair is recessive!? That does not match any scientific proven analysis! Okay, and the 'keener features' in contrast and comparison to the African traits means that you believe that FULLER LIPS and HIPS of AFrican people are recessive traits and that the FLATTER HIPS and the THIN LIPS are more dominant and this 'BLACK KEENER FEATURES' are unique from White people and Africans? That does not make sense, and it is NOT SCIENTIFIC. @Pioneer1 That you believe that Africans and their trait of bushy hair and fuller lips and hips stem from East Africans with their traits that show, as do White Europeans, of oftentimes possessing flatter hips and thin lips and straight would be saying that White Europeans and East Indians express the more DOMINANT TRAITS and that the human species today, MODERN HUMANS originate from EAST INDIA? THAT IS NOT A THEORY or even an HYPOTHESIS. It matches no scietific data. It doesn't even match historical data as India did not have the first civilizations. This would be a contradiction because, as you have also stated, there is a high percentage of TALL, BLACK or, DARK SKINNED NUBIANS in this part of Africa. Because of the hundreds of years of transatlantic slave trade, it would be West AFrica that expresses a lot of European admixture too. So, the Genetics of Africans would not necessarily be based upon what you are saying.
  3. It's Black Speculative Fiction Month! This month we celebrate the Black Fantastic by supporting our creators and their events throughout the Diaspora! If you've never read a Sword and Soul, Steamfunk, Afrotuturism, Africanfuturism, African Fantasy, Science Fiction, Paranormal, Urban Fantasty, Horror book or graphic novel by a Black author, this is your month. I encourage all my friends to read, support an author by writing a review, attend a Black Speculative Fiction event, share a book, event, and/or an author with friends. This is our month, so let's celebrate!
  4. Wow, we are on our second book, and what a book! Below is my post, Sing, Unburied, Sing Jesmyn Ward While reading the novel, I kept wondering what was it building up to, what would be the climax; despite this wondering, I kept reading because I was engrossed in the day-to-day life of a Black family on a farm. I remained caught up in the “what is going to happen next” that was unrelated to a major climatic event in the novel. I speculate that some may say the major event was the freed spirits or Kayla stepping into her role as a seer. Others may say it was Leonie’s attempts at being a healer or Jojo seeing Richie - arguing that Pops' story was build up to that event. I argue that Ward “bucked” tradition with this novel and held the reader with smaller day-to-day climaxes instead of holding them with plot build up that lead to one climax. From the killing of the goat, to Pops’ story about Parchman prison, to Jojo’s thirst, to the Kayla’s near death, to Mam’s death, to Michael’s prison release, to children hearing the unburied sing, to Jojo seeing sprits and hearing animals, the reader is engrossed by smaller climatic events and not the plot building up to one climax – the novel read like real life. I believe the protagonist of the novel was Jojo; however, Ward gave us other character’s backstories with such depth that I am sure others will argue for Leonie. Jojo had the goal of keeping Kayla safe and accepting his and his family’s spiritual powers. I see Leonie as Jojo’s antagonist; she is a physical threat to Kayla and to Jojo’s own development. Leonie’s neglect of Kayla forces Jojo into a parental role that Leonie resents. The main message of the novel was the need for family. Ward used a family under attack by racism, the prison industrial complex, and addiction to illustrate how an individual needs family. Mam would not have transitioned without Leonie, Jojo would have not had a guide without Pops – the need for family is strong in the novel. The family being under attack was one motif, along with the individual being attacked by addiction and the effects on the addict and the family of the addict. The most effective metaphor was “Given-not-Given” showing the strength of addiction; Ward had a ghost brother appear to try and help Leonie see the error of her ways, but a ghost was powerless over her addiction. The most memorable scenes were Kayla throwing up in that car and at the lawyer’s house, on Leonie, on Misty, and the police officer; the child puked on the putrid life of the addicted. I believe this text represents the malady of societal attacks on poor families within America. With this book, Ward illuminates those attacks and calls for families to remain strong. Without a doubt, I would read another Jesmyn Ward book.

I am soooo in love with black people! Your presence, your beauty, your strength, your persistence, your forgiving heart, your pain, your my hero and I fall in love with you over and over again. As a self-published author, I started writing my fourth book. This book contains letters expressing my experiences. After writing my 12th letter, I began to ask myself: 'How can I share these letters on a broader scale - I came up with Wall Hangers and thought of you. I'd like to share an example of one Wall Hanger dedicated to our Black Beauties. Others can be viewed on my website: https://www.DeeMillerInspired.com Dear Black Beauty, My love for you runs to the ends of the earth because I understand your heart. I understand how deeply you love; how committed you are to family; that when you do get angry, I know that it comes from feelings that you hold inside to keep the peace. But, girlfriend, when you smile, the whole world dances. You have that spirit that gives you the courage to withstand all obstacles. That spirit that measures your woman-hood, and defies defeat - that spirit in which your mother’s breasts nourished you for what’s to come, shines through. I watch in awe of your bravery, and I fall in love with you over and over again. My sista, the next time you look in the mirror, stand tall, stand proud, stand beautiful. Proudly show those curvy hips, those beautiful lips, that amazing kinky hair, that brown skin. Then, look to the right and smile even bigger, maybe even wink, then walk on by, gracefully.
  6. Yes I remember Evonne, she was one of the best players of her day. I did not know until now that she was an Aboriginal Australian. You so rarely encounter these people -- outside Australia. Then the Europeans did murder every single indigenous Tasmanian to the point not one lives today.
  7. i remember way back in the 70s, an Australian tennis player named Evonne Goolagon (sp), - a grand slam winner who was curly haired and tawny colored and said to be a descendant of Aborigines. There was a lot of talk when she broke away from her coach and manager who she claimed wanted to exercise complete control over her and her earnings.
