But given the fact that you "don't even care why at this point," means you probably won't. It also reveals you are satisfied with a superficial and biased understanding of the subject and, as a result, know very little about it. But your ignorance has not stopped you from making unfounded declarations. We live in a society where people don't care to understand, but worse some are aggressively rejecting attempts to educate others. Municipalities across the old slave states, in particular, are actually preventing educators from doing their job by banning books and preventing the teaching of the truth by deriding it as "woke culture." Since you are beyond querying deeper by asking why, you'll never understand any of this. We can agree on one thing; debating you on this subject would indeed be "silly."

Zora never saw the publication of Barracoon due to her unwillingness to change the written way the formerly enslaved African Lewis spoke. Hurston's "translation" was readable and understandable. "Falettinme" seems more like being playful that an accurate representation of Black English which I one might write as "fa lettin' me." 😉

@Pioneer1, there is no shortage of individually successful AfroAmericans who have taken responsibility to ascend the ladders and cross the bridges to wield varying degrees of power. AfroAmericans have come a long way since the 1960s. At the same time, there is no shortage of dysfunctional AfroAmericans too. For a number of reasons, some folks just can't or won't get right. Nobody should have to put their lives and careers on hold in order to help people who have no desire to help themselves. Survival of the fittest. Black politicians as elected officials do have a responsibility to serve their communities from the poorest to the wealthiest. That is the job they signed up to do.😎

The are committing suicide at record rates, addicted to opioids -- their life expectance has gone down in recent years. The anger of racists is misdirected. Again this is by design, but since this is not taught in schools. A poorly educated population is easily distracted, manipulated, and abused. The protests against the war in Vietnam, in reaction to all the senseless loss of life, was one of the few times white boys recognized they were being abused... Racists never learn. It is astonishing white racists continue to believe Black people are their problem. The same ole tricks continue to work.
