Pioneer's Square that is always a possibility :-) Of the named discussion forums Cynique is the only one who still actively participates. I named the forum for Cynique to honor her contributions. It was not something that she asked me to do. This will be the name of the forum as long as I'm running this site. The Poetree was named for Sister Sheree Sarana, because she volunteered to moderate the forum. Unfortunately she did not hang around very long. I'm open to renaming it for another moderator, but I haven't mentioned this to anyone. When I'm finished the upgrade I'll invest more in actively promoting all the forums. The Literature forum is named for a prolific poster whose pseudonym was "Thumper." He was such a big participant that he essentially became the brand of the forum, so I named it for him. But Thumper left abruptly. I just checked when he made has last post; it was made in January of 2011 when he wrote "I'm back." I doubt I'll rename this forum, but if someone actually volunteered to actively run it I would do it, albeit with a heavy heart.

I can't believe this..... I honestly LOOKED for something to point out and criticized during the trailer and couldn't really find anything legitimate. I mean, this movie isn't exactly MY cup of tea....but for a cast featuring majority Black actors and actresses...it looks pretty wholesome and meaningful. And where did they find so many good looking Black people ??? Damn.... Even the old sista in pearls had me going. I thought she was Marla Gibbs at first..lol.

Okay, some people just randomly use ellipses so I didn't even think about that as the reason for the choppiness. It's good writing anyway.

Sara, to your point, Cynique did have epic battles with one known as Kola Boof. Indeed your interaction with Cynique would sound like conversation during afternoon tea with the pastors' wives club by comparison. But Cynique did not run her off, she (and others for that matter) ran off on their own. Cynique I changed my mind on this issue for another reason too. As long as folks are not trying to really abuse this forum (a constant threat), I'm inclined to let folks to what they want. Me trying to moderate what is happening in an effort to control or moderate it is not optimal. Some of the best things that have happened here were things I could never have planned or imagined. My attempts to meddle only make the best things less likely to happen. I have no idea how this forum will evolve over time, in this social media era. Maybe it will spring back and become much more active, maybe it will die completely. Time will tell.

He will speak about his journey overcoming poor reading skills as a student to the successful author and filmmaker he became. As a National Bestselling Author who almost lost a college athletic scholarship due to poor reading skills, McGlothin ultimately overcame that obstacle and completed a Master’s Degree in Human Relations and Business, published 14 books and produced three films. On April 19, 2016 McGlothin’s most recent film production, Texas Voodoo Zombies, will make history as the first black zombie film since the 1970’s. He is currently producing two TV series pilots to promote local acting talent in Dallas, where he lives with his wife and sons. As a member of TeCo’s Board of Directors, Emma Rodgers serves as chairperson for the program committee, developing the speaker series. She recommended McGlothin as TeCo’s next speaker because they wanted to attract the attention of local book club members and give them the opportunity to meet McGlothin, she said. “There haven’t been a lot of opportunities for book club lovers to connect with authors like they use to do back in the day when we were open, so this will be an opportunity for that to occur,” Rodgers said. For 30 years Rodgers co-owned and ran Black Images Book Bazaar, the oldest African American book store in the area, before it closed in 2006. She first met McGlothin at her book store when he came to her with his first self-published novel. She stayed in contact with him and watched his success grow over the years. She likes his writing style and hopes that readers will be inspired to read his books and writers or would-be-writers will learn valuable information. “I hope they get tips on how to write, strategies for writing, how he collects data in order to write, the kind of research that he does. That he would give them the fundamentals of what is required to be a good writer and write a book that is believable,” Rodgers said.
