I saw a commercial for the movie a few days ago. Not a 'must see' movie for me but I hope it's well done and well received by its intended audience.

Poverty is an American Problem, not Black one
ProfD replied to Troy's topic in Culture, Race & Economy
I was referring to laws and regulations as it relates to monopolies. AfroAmerican businesses have been victimized by racism. Small Business Administration and regulations were established to help. There are laws specifically designed to keep AfroAmericans on the bottom. As AfroAmericans, we need laws specially designed to help us i.e. a hate crime bill. Asians got it instead. White folks don't really believe laws were made to be enforced against them. We covered this one a while ago. Federal law regarding marijuana means it cannot be trafficked across state lines and is prohibited in places under federal jurisdiction. However, states have a right to make their own laws whether it's marijuana or abortion or guns. It's a privilege of living in a democracy. -

Yep. Men commit all types of transgressions and atrocities in the name of greed, lust, power and money. Yet, an honest and decent man can have anything desired if he's willing to work hard for it. -

Only a handful of Black countries have ongoing violence. But, the tribal sh8t, greed, corruption and cronyism are very real. Many folks flee because they aren't among the chosen and favored. However, to your point, putting in the effort to *fix* their own countries instead of fleeing elsewhere would make more sense. Nope. They flee to countries where white folks run everything and happily work as wage slaves. -
Consensual. She never pressed charges. Just casually wrote about it her book. Craziness. But, it's the same mentality that allows clergy folks to get away with abuse. Of course, a Black man can't get away with exerting any type of power. There's no statute of limitations in prosecuting him whether it's real or imagined. White men will continue getting away with all types of sh8t as long as they're controlling the game.

As master teachers have told us, these perverted forms of religion aren't meant to help Black folks at all. Here's an example of how white folks brainwashed Black folks: https://www.nairaland.com/775131/king-leopolds-letter-christian-missionaries.an#9278115 Mainly through religion and other forms of subjugation, both figuratively and literally, these people have been f8cking Black folks for ages. Catholics do not have a monopoly on perversion. Christians and Muslims are guilty too. Again, Black folks have to spend less time on their knees praying and doing whatever else keeps them in blinders and oblivious to what's happening right under their noses. The rap group Whodini said the freaks come out at night. They didn't say a d8mn thing about the Pope's folks and them. -

Well, if Africa is any indication of what Black men in charge would do to build their own countries...I don't know if comet strike would make it better or worse. Otherwise, some African leadership is enriching themselves by selling out to the highest bidders and giving them access to their land and resources. When Black folks from other countries aren't selling out they are fleeing to countries where they can tuck up underneath white folks. Looking for a better life they refuse to ceeate at *home*. Lazy AfroAmericans have a convenient excuse for their shortcomings. Especially when they don't have any wealth nor own anything and feel powerless against the system. Playing against a stacked deck. Black folks need to get their heads out of religion and every other distraction and form of escapism and figure out how to overcome the realities of living in the here and now. -

It's a slippery slope. Laws and rules were created because when businesses were allowed free reign they monopolized the game. Laws, rules and regulations are checks and balances that supposedly give others a fair shot at getting in the game. Of course, it doesn't always work that way. Some folks can figure out a way to get around anything. -
This is a damn shame this bias charge was made

Spike Lee put that dude in a few movies and he feels comfortable talking at Black folks recklessly. N8gglets need to stop kicking it with folks like Rappaport and stop doing interviews with that Vlad guy. Exactly. A few Black talking heads feel obligated to say something but for the most part Black folks are minding their own bizness even if they've got none. Picking lint out of one's own navel is better than opening a pie-hole and speaking on these dust-ups. -

Julianna Margulies had nerve to say one thing on a podcast and turn around issuing that boilerplate apology they all give when it comes out wrong. Funny how these groups of people are dead silent as Black folks deal with 50 shades of racism on a regular basis. But, as soon as these other groups of people are going through some sh8t, they want Black folks to ride with them as if phoning a friend. Interestingly, these same groups of people don't call out Hispanics or Asians or Indians or anybody else to stand with them. It's always "if Black folks were going through...." this or that would have been said or done. Nope. As Dr. John Henrik Clarke stated "we have no friends". These wars are not our fights. We're better off remaining neutral in these situations. -

Having no code is the main problem. Not being able to easily identify the bootlicks, shills and tethers is another issue. Maybe a cataclysmic event forcing AfroAmerican unity will happen in the future. -

Many victims do take justice into their own hands. Some end up behind bars too. Every now and then, there will be a news story about how someone exacted their revenge against a perpetrator. It happens more often than we know. In the article linked above, a young man shot the priest who had victimized him. Still took a while for the church to believe the priest was foul. Otherwise, several factors go into victims suffering in silence. No amount of confidentiality will bring them forward. I've never liked bullies and those who take advantage of other people especially the most vulnerable i.e. children, women and elderly. I feel perverts should be rounded up and put in the dirt where they belong. It would save taxpayers money too. -
Racists will not end their penchant for coming for us

Considering the literacy around here, I'm inclined to believe we're capable of both...doing research and making sh8t up. Providing opinions on topics keeps the discussions lively and also adds a touch of humor to the mix. I doubt the forum was intended to be a classroom. In any event, allow reader(s) to separate the chaff from the wheat and do their own fact-checking. -

Southern white folks have been anti-Black since slavery. Northern white folks who immigrated from Europe to the United States through Ellis Island included anti-Black sentiment in their luggage. I would contend that racism and especially anti-Black sentiment throughout the United States has been the same ever since white folks showed up. -

Wal-Mart would probably be considered a benevolent monopoly to Americans. As brotha Troy pointed out, Wal-Mart led to other stores going out of business. OTOH, Wal-Mart single-handedly boosted the economy of the areas in which they chose to open stores. As @Pioneer1 mentioned, Wal-Mart started in rural areas where it was was a one stop shop. Convenient for people who had to travel longer distances to get things done. In those areas, families could spend a whole day in Wal-Mart taking care of business. They could also find employment there. Wal-Mart gradually expanded into suburban and urban areas as demand for lower priced items increased. The emergence of Wal-Mart encouraged other discount retailers to cash out and either invest in other business ventures or retire. -

The body count of Catholic clergy perversion has to be unprecedented. Catholic clergy people have gotten my side-eye treatment way before their scandals came to light. As a non-religious but observant person, I've always felt that any group of people who take a vow of celibacy are suspects. Rightly or wrongly, because of the lifestyle they choose to live, I've suspected priests and nuns were homosexuals and lesbians. Considering their interest in young people, I've felt that pedophilia wasn't beyond the Catholic clergy either. Religion and churches are filled with the worst sinners. The stories of their abuses will continue to come out. The fact that the Catholic war chest i.e. wealth is vast enough to cover up their indiscretions for many decades is telling. IMO, children should not be anywhere near the playground of a Catholic church and teenagers shouldn't spend too much time in the rectory. Yet, folks have surrendered their children to these people for a very long time under the auspices of God. Yeah right. -

Understood. The algorithm will continue feeding certain content. However, it's the initial inquiry into a trip down memory lane that raises a signal. No doubt, that as we get older, there are certain people, places or things, etc., in which we find comfort. I'm just wondering what in the name of New Jack Swing has led you to take that stroll. -
Kissinger was 100 years old. A whole century on the rock is not a small feat. As I mentioned in another thread, 100 years from now most folks living today will be gone. The world is definitely going to change.

Yep. But, access isn't enough especially if folks have to be relied upon to use it correctly. I wish the universe had an automatic birth control mechanism allowing stupid people to enjoy as much s8x as they wanted without being able to procreate. The same way a man cannot impregnate a sheep or a woman cannot get pregnant by her pet; stupid people shouldn't be able to reproduce either. No worries. 100 years from now, most of the folks living today will be gone. -

Agreed on both accounts. Mayor Adams thought he had a 1st amendment right to say whatever came out of his pie-hole regarding the labor force and replacement for Black folks. The powers definitely want folks in position to maintain the status quo. Mayor Adams popped out his box and now they're gonna whack-a-mole his azz back into submission. -

During the mayoral race, Mayor Adams was being accused of different stuff like not really living in NYC. Yet, he still won. Maybe the objective is to make Mayor Adams a one-term placeholder for one of the further left-leaning candidates Democrats are grooming for the seat. -
