  1. I tune in to debates mainly 1) to know what both sides of the coin are yakking about and 2) it can be as entertaining as watching an episode of Martin. I watch and read news for the same reason. Sometimes it's more entertaining than consuming empty mental calories from TV shows and movies. Most of the current cast of clowns are definitely jockeying for position in carrying favor with the former POTUS.
  2. @Pioneer1, as I mentioned in another thread, most dates and marriages can be viewed as legal prostitution. Prostitution is called the oldest profession because it's been around for thousands of years. Regardless of laws, both women and men have been using prostitution as a means to an end. Sometimes it's happy.
  3. Understood. The media definitely works overtime pushing negative narratives about Black folks.
  4. Personally, I do not subscribe to the B. Smith version of soul food. I prefer to cook my food with the *unhealthy* ingredients that gives it soul. Smoked turkey in collard greens is an alternative to pork for folks like myself. The difference is that I'm still going to add everything that makes the greens soulful and tender. I don't know what that seaweed consistency sh8t is they're serving as greens in those *gourmet* soul food restaurants.
  5. I'm definitely not referring to angry Black folks as being mentally ill. Just folks like her who may have been through something and the PTSD came out.
  6. Agreed. Considering she was taken for a psychological evaluation....just nuts seems about right. Interestingly, 26-year old Laneisha Henderson is a decorated Navy veteran who received medals for good conduct. I'm sure we'll hear what may have pushed her over the edge that day. This could have been an attempt to get the Veteran's Administration to increase her disability percentage. Seriously, mental health issues are running rampant in this country and need to be handled accordingly.
  7. I know where this thread originated but the content has clearly jumped the shark. Illegal prostitution doesn't have the best benefits package (medical and dental) and retirement plan. There's also the hazards of unsafe workplace conditions and physical security issues. Housewives married to a strong provided have much better job security and benefits and retirement package. Especially if she becomes a widow i.e. out-lives provider who has accumulated savings, investments, pension, etc. While there are exceptions to everything i.e. women who have been *successful* prostitutes, the odds are lower than a more stable situation. Housewives have fared better overall. Over many decades, women have been able to choose how they want to live and provide for themselves. No pimp, John or husband required.
  8. Yep. It's just another crabcake made specifically with jumbo lump crabmeat. In general, steamed crabs is a DMV thing. Folks here love them. My sister can't afford to fall into the Chesapeake Bay. The crabs will not be kind to her since she is single-handedly trying to eat them into extinction.
  9. Yep. I've seen the Little Richard documentary too. Knew his story beforehand but the doc was well done. Little Richard's influence on the music industry and imagery within it is huge. Of course, the white media has done everything it could to not give Black folks credit for Rock & Roll. So many artists and musicians used elements of Little Richard's approach and it's still evident in through present.
  10. Onion, green pepper, garlic, Mayo, Dijon mustard, Old Bay and other seasonings. Your adding shrimp and aioli on the side will be nice too. I'm doing stuffed salmon as one of my christmas dinner dishes. If I don't do crabcakes I might do those rolls instead.
  11. Yep. I've used lumpia wrapper to make rolls stuffed with crabmeat.
  12. @Stefan, I must not have been around when you started that thread. Definitely would not have received push back from my corner. Both political parties have the same agenda. It's like a good cop bad cop routine. While he won't get anywhere near the Oval Office, this fella has potential to be the most dangerous person in America: Vivek Ramaswamy This guy is so smart that he's dumb. Just to think he has a wife and kids. Yikes. White folks won't let him do more than run his mouth. Maybe they'll use him similar to former Gov. Bobby Jindal. Either way, Vivek Ramaswamy (VR) is burning up his 15 minutes of fame to prepare for his next endeavor. VR can't get on the next magic carpet flying outta here soon enough.
  13. I'm really wondering how we can keep the state of South Carolina and others from exporting these crash dummies: Mush Mouth Tim Scott Uncle Ruckus Jim Clyburn These sellouts are doing whatever it takes to roll back 50 years any respectability and gains AfroAmericans have made in America. Mush mouth Tim Scott has licked so many boots that he has to brush his teef with leather cleaner.
  14. Of the remaining GOP candidates challenging the former POTUS for the nomination, only one of them is willing to call him out on his record and legal issues. Former Gov. Chris Christie who at one time was a loyal ally to the former POTUS is the only candidate who seems unafraid to oppose him. Watching the debate is funnier than some TV shows and movies. These clown characters are wasting a whole lot of money In a losing effort. The former POTUS is leaving the clowns in the dust. I don't think he would even ask any those candidates to be his VP running mate or cabinet level positions.
  15. Nothing wrong with it. Some folks like the sound of one hand clapping.
  16. That's right. I see you've paid attention to and/or accepted some of what I type. White folks and others will codify some sh8t Black folks created for *fun* and turn it into a commodity for themselves.
  17. I bet those good Afroamericans in the South didn't allow you to go anywhere near the racists. Southern Black folks are conditioned from birth to either avoid or know how to deal with racists when encountered. It's urban raised AfroAmericans like myself who go down South with a swagger that puts everybody on notice that 1) I'm not from down there and 2) I don't give a f8ck about racist white folks.
  18. Agreed. He couldn't miss afterward. Drove that train straight through a town called success.
  19. Every group of people has their dysfunctional. The question to ask yourself is why don't you know about them. It's definitely not because they don't exist. Spend some time in the backwoods or trailer parks of America or paying the same level of attention to others. You'll see their warts too.
  20. As I mentioned before, white folks aren't original or creative. They steal, er, get ideas from others.
  21. Considering what LeBron James does on the basketball court, I don't see someone who a coach can control or manipulate or influence. As a supremely gifted and talented athlete, he makes the team successful. Folks are hired based on their ability to do a job and fired when they are incapable. That's why folks have to walk in the door with certain credentials. No need to control or manipulate or influence them. That's why they get paid.
  22. Interesting old thread. As a foodie and a self-proclaimed chef, I'll just add that any type of food is only as unhealthy as it is prepared and/or consumed. There are alternatives to using fat and salt and high fructose corn syrup in dishes. I don't eat pork in general. D8mn sure not eating intestines, er, chitlins. My family loves that sh8t though. African foods can be starch heavy. Some Africans have to deal with high blood pressure and diabetes too. Buy quality ingredients to cook. Control portion servings. Enjoy whatever goes down into your belly. Exercise. Rinse and repeat.
  23. Surely, it could be debated that sitcoms of the 1950s inspired Lear. IMO, the credit Lear gets is that his sitcoms featured diversity in casting and he wrote scripts tackling a wider range of issues reflecting those times. The main benefit Lear had was color TV in more ways than one.
  24. Norman Lear created the blueprint for sitcom TV: https://www.vulture.com/2023/12/remembrance-norman-lear-19222023.html Sanford & Son, The Jeffersons and Good Times were among Lear's most popular sitcoms. Those were the days of TV long before cable and syndication. Back in those days, folks had to wait weekly to watch those shows. Nowadays, TV shows can be pulled up on demand or watched as a marathon. Those TV shows were created a half-century ago. Time flies.
  25. We'll never know because the media doesn't pander to those for participation. Otherwise, people from any race, color, creed or ethnicity are capable of doing something strange for some change. Culture plays a huge part in human development. The code is taught from day one of a child's life. No code. Rudder-less and lost. That dysfunction starts with their parents. Getting older definitely makes us more cognizant of embarrassment especially when its our people. More people see the dysfunctional behavior and choose not to say anything because they don't want the smoke. As the late, great Bernie Mac would say..."we got some punk azz parents out here".
