  1. Better is subjective because it depends on one's station in life. There have always been poor and "better off" folks. The rhetorical question is which Era would one have preferred to live. Such has always been the case from straight up domination (slavery) to sharecropping, Jim Crow laws and Black Codes. Drugs was just another layer. Right. Definitely not about waiting on anyone to get onboard. Sure. Once on code, we're in a better position to build strategic alliances with other folks. AfroAmericans have been divided in many ways for a long time.
  2. The two paramedics who injected Elijah McCLain with ketamine have been found guilty: https://www.cbsnews.com/colorado/news/paramedics-elijah-mcclain-death-ketamine-colorado-jury-ruling/ That's a start. The police officers involved need to be found guilty as well. Every last one of them, police and paramedics failed that young man and ultimately took his life. It's not enough to fire these clowns because they'll show up somewhere else and get a law enforcement job. Lock them up.
  3. Murder rate is higher due to extenuating circumstances...poverty and drugs. Poverty and drugs as the primary cause and effect cannot be discounted. Many of those children were lazy and/or got hooked on drugs and lost their inheritance to gentrification. AfroAmericans fighting tooth and nail to hold on to 2nd class like flying Southwest airlines. AfroAmericans aren't on code among themselves. We need to build alliances among ourselves before we branch out. That's a problem. AfroAmerican parents encouraged their children to get a good education so they could 1) find a good job and 2) not expect an inheritance and 3) be able take care of them (parents) in old age. Net zero from what I can tell.
  4. Different MCs. Chubb was on a literate and party vibe. He came along before rappers got heavy into spinning street tales. Biggie was masterful lyricist and storyteller. He made a few party records but most of his were street stories. Puffy probably enjoyed being a hype man as much as a record mogul.
  5. That's right. We didn't create this planet or the solar system. We definitely made up numbers though.
  6. That applies to both parties. Those adopted kids work for cheap and bring in a lot of money.
  7. Statistically, the population is higher than it was 123 years ago. Secondly, most Black on Black murders are comitted against rivals. There's a pattern. Only a handful of innocent hard-working.and/or minding their own business Black folks are getting caught up in the crossfire when guns start clapping. Otherwise, white folks are committing a higher percentage of violent crimes. The media doesn't report it the same way unless the crime is too blatant to overlook. Considering the number of Black people depending on white folks for every crumb of their daily bread, those Black folks didn't build an economic infrastructure to pass on to future generations. Yet, the overall plight of AfroAmericans was still 2nd class citizen. To this day, AfroAmericans should never look for allies in other groups of people. That's a problem. Again, AfroAmericans have very little in terms of an economic infrastructure to show for it. Black farmers are catching h8ll right now. White folks playing all kinds of games to keep them from making money. But, if we had AfroAmerican grocery stores, those farmers would have somewhere to sell their goods. The best and brightest AfroAmericans are tucked away in a cubicle working for white folks because we own very few engineering firms, construction companies, hospitals, banks, schools, etc. Sure. Except that there is nothing to show for it. Every generation of AfroAmericans from past to present has to start from scratch and claw their way up to some form of success. No inheritance.
  8. Liberal media political footballs. The majority of illegal Immigrants and homeless folks are non-white. Conservatives are booting some migrants out of their red states and sending them to blue states. Blue states show homeless people in tent cities and sh8t. Playing games, cooking and smiling as if they're happily living that way in richest and most powerful country on the planet. Red states don't air their dysfunction in the same way. But, the politicians and businesses benefit from it just the same. Crips and Bloods, er, Democrats and Republicans. Two sides of the same coin. Keeping the masses dazed, confused an arguing with each other over dumb sh8t instead of watching their hands and following the money.
  9. Yep. Phil talking straight facts about what's happening with that migrant situation and who will benefit. AfroAmericans waiting too much time waiting on White folks to treat them right: Here we are 30 years later. Very little has changed when it comes to building a solid, self-sufficient AfroAmerican economic infrastructure.
  10. Facts. Bro, I see you're "still learning" from these discussions.
  11. I'm the resident agnostic. There's a difference between us and them (atheists). Otherwise, you're right. No need trying to convince me of anything Divine. That's why I usually mind my business when it comes to these discussions. The origin of Math stirred up my keyboard. Back to the regularly scheduled program.
  12. Man came up with a number system and everything that follows it. If it was divine, we shouldn't have to be taught how to count. The same way we know how to breathe, eat, sleep, drink and relieve ourselves. Right before children start school, hopefully, someone teaches them how to count to ten. School takes over in teaching arithmetic. We aren't born knowing 2+2=4. It's a construct we have been taught to accept. Someone could have started at any number and built up from it. Imagine if 18 was the base. In advanced mathematics, we assign values to letters and come up with formulas to deal with vast quantities and huge numbers. Look at currency. $1 USD could be the equivalent of 10,000 titiwans (made up foreign currency). Before folks could count they would trade goods and services by some other measure of equivalence i.e. weight. Even nowadays, folks will use their eyes to approximate a measurement or value. IMO, the number system and mathematics as created by man has become universally accepted. I don't belive math divine. It's convenient for solving certain problems more efficiently.
  13. Of course, it's on code for people born with a sense of privilege and entitlement. Add a racism and/or anti-Black sentiment and it's a Molotov cocktail.
  14. Depends on where you live and your status. I doubt you'd want to be "Strange Fruit". That's reason enough to not go back. Selfish to think otherwise. The question becomes what would Black folks do differently to keep white folks from killing our people and burning down the Black Wall Streets. Again , we already know how Garvey's movement ended. We also know what that Green Book meant in relation to sundown towns. The only way I'd want to go back in the past is to undo every ill human beings have inflicted on each other. Otherwise, there's no better time than present to make the world a better place of peace and love for all human beings.
  15. Capitalism is built on free markets. It thrives with limited government. There's supposed poised to be balance moreso competition between them. Too much government makes people lazy and stifles innovation and industry. The pandemic allowed folks to sleep in and have less motivation to worka job. Stores didn't have enough folks to work warehouses or stock shelves. Capitalism isn't perfect but it's better than the alternatives (Socialism and Communism). Suppressing inflation would flood the market with cheaper and inferior goods. Imagine dollar stores everywhere.
  16. It still doesn't read like an honorable profession with high earning potential and benefits and a retirement plan. Reads like some sh8t women were obligated to do in obedience to their cultural/religious beliefs. I would not be surprised if the patriarchy was behind it.
  17. This woman was way out of bounds. Especially considering she murdered a man who was involved in a minor traffic accident. He may have been having a medical emergency which led to the fender bender. Nonetheless, this racist piece of trash chick decided to be police, judge, jury and executioner. Thankfully she received a stiff prison sentence. I hope a few sistas in the penalty box are able to whack upside her head with a bag of soap bars and beat her down.
  18. Right. A whole lot of time and money is being wasted on running mates, er, GOP candidates as if there will be an alternative nominee. Former POTUS isn't going to prison under any circumstance. He'll definitely be the GOP nominee. I wouldn't be surprised if gets re-elected. Racist white folks want their country back the way it was In the early 1900s when non-white folks were in their place. The former POTUS is promising those white folks he can make it happen.
  19. Until he went to prison or the cemetery. It would take a lot more than removing a stigma for prostitution to become an honorable profession.
  20. As it relates to AfroAmericans (ADOS/FBA), we should only be concerned with issues that affect us. Otherwise, it is a distraction to keep us from focusing on reparations. Whatever is going on with Chinese women and their wanting to have babies in America has nothing to do with AfroAmericans.
  21. Exactly. No different from children born into the mafia. No reason for those kids to tell anybody what their fathers did for a living. Of course, people *knew* not to mistreat those mafia kids either.
  22. Jack Johnson was born in the South but spent the most prosperous years of his life in the North (New York, Chicago, Philly, Detroit). While Jack Johnson was never in any real danger, his *success* in beating a white man for the heavyweight title did lead to a race riot. Also, Jack Johnson was the most feared Black man in and out the ring during his reign. To this day, some Black men choose to deal with white women. Probably has something to do with forbidden fruit. I guess those dudes believe not only is the white man's ice colder but his fruit must be sweeter too.
  23. Pay disparity will always be an issue especially within a capitalistic framework. Then, there's the racism and gender piece of it too. There are a few elephants in a small room. Most Americans are taught to get an education so that they can get a job working for somebody else. People need to become educated in how to go from 1) trading labor for wages to 2) becoming producers instead of merely consumers. There's a huge difference between working for someone else and working for yourself. It starts with self-investment. Take the two women mentioned above. As A-list actresses, there's nothing to stop them from separately or joining forces to produce and direct their own projects. But, it's easier to let someone else do the heaviest lifting whether it's financing the project or building the business. Then, workers want to demand better pay or fair pay. Their effort is misguided from the beginning. It starts at the negotiating table. Of course, as long as someone else is willing to work for less there's never a labor shortage. Catch 22. Unions and other efforts have been undertaken to resolve everything from pay disparity to working conditions. Even in that regard....follow the money. Nonetheless, I could write a book on the subject of labor and capitalism but I'll stop here for the Q&A.
  24. It's not really frowned upon but most children won't go around bragging about theirr parent(s) being career drug dealers.
  25. Jack Johnson was arrested and jailed and fined but he kept doing it anyway.
