  1. Our nation is divided in many ways even from a political perspective. The big money folks are using it to keep people dazed and confused. ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  2. @richardmurray, war would only be necessary if/when our sovereignty is compromised. Otherwise, I do not endorse the negative side of human activities. ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  3. 50 years from now, I would want the black community to be more unified and self-sufficient in all areas of human activity.๐Ÿ˜Ž
  4. Politicians on both sides are funded by special interests i.e. big money. Right now, neither party seems to be committed to working for the American people. IMO, they are two sides of the same coin. ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  5. It was not my intent to derail the thread. Carry on...๐Ÿ˜Ž
  6. That didn't stop slaveowners in America from using the Bible to controls and justify their inhuman treatment of slaves. The Bible ha always been used to enforce mental slavery. ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  7. 1) Do not give into or spread gender stereotypes. Be the change one wants to see. 2) Favorite woman is my mother. She gave me life. Women should be celebrated every day. If it wasn't for them...well, the rest is self-explanatory. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜Ž
  8. I'm not surprised that black folks were discriminated against while fleeing Ukraine. The real question is why are they living in a country that is 99.9% white. More importantly, why is gas over $4 per gallon in the US. People are being killed and fleeced out of their money over some geopolitical BS.๐Ÿ˜Ž
  9. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg...and video game, Oculus VR headset, etc., were enough to let me know this old man will not be joining the new frontier that is metaverse. ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  10. I thought POTUS Papa Joe Biden (PJB) did very well in his 1st State of the Union (SOTU) address. He was clear in his message. I hope that POTUS PJB will be able to accomplish a few more things beneficial to the country before the midterm elections especially if the Democrats lose the House. More importantly, I would like to see elected leaders on both sides of the aisle working in the best interests of America instead of catering to their paymasters, er, special interests. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Again, I'm elated that Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson has been nominated to SCOTUS. I'm not concerned about who Judge Jackson is married to but more interested to see what Justice Jackson will do on the bench once confirmed. I seriously doubt that a Justice Jackson will be anything like the black fella currently taking up a seat on the bench. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜Ž
  12. No way Christians will ever protest the Bible especially when it is so effective in controlling the lives of a couple billion people. ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  13. Correct. That's what I meant but should have been more specific in referring to higher education.๐Ÿ˜Ž
  14. The last trilogy of "Planet of the Apes" is among my favorite sci-fi films.๐Ÿ˜Ž
  15. Well, I certainly appreciate and enjoy reading whatever you decide to post. ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  16. As I've mentioned before, my idea of reparations isn't just handing out checks. Reparations would be free education, no taxes and investment in programs, banks and other institutions that guarantee AfroAmericans access to resources. ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  17. I'm ecstatic that Judge Ketanji Brown is a SCOTUS nominee. I look forward to her being confirmed and taking her seat on the bench. ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  18. The term "woke" as a colloloquialism among AfroAmericans meant to be knowledgeable and aware especially of injustice and racism. It is smart to know and understand the conditions of one's environment. I hope that author isn't totally ignorant or an old fool or both. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜Ž
  19. I believe that article is behind a paywall. Nonetheless, it is amazing that athletes are told to "shut and play" if they express any political opinions, yet, someone wants to hold them accountable for forced labor when it comes to a shoe deal. Nevermind that the players do not own the brands. H8ll, if that is the case, there would be no sports teams if the players boycotted their racist owners who pay them to play. ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  20. I'm more concerned with the ability and effectiveness of BLM in their messaging and pursuit of justice on behalf of black folks. ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  21. A "study" is merely the process of asking questions, collecting information, analyzing and evaluating evidence, drawing conclusions, and sharing knowledge. Too much room for smoke and mirrors leaving it up the government. There's no accountabiilty; checks and balances. If the commission decides reparations is not worth pursuing, then what becomes the recourse for ADOS. I believe an independent commission led by intelligent AfroAmericans should take up the task of defining reparations and how it should be enumerated and compensated to ADOS. No doubt...reparations is a very tall order. As @Delano mentioned, it's not likely to happen for a number of reasons. Mainly because America would just as soon everybody forget slavery ever existed. ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  22. @KENNETH, black filmmakers should definitely be taking advantage of alternative outlets. However, instead of relying on Hollywood, YouTube or Netflix, black folks need to develop an ownership mentality to invest in and build our own platforms.๐Ÿ˜Ž
  23. The maximum sentence those 3 accomplices could face is life imprisonment. I believe the feds will be more lenient on the 3 of them since they let the ringleader cop a plea to 20-25 years. I suspect these 3 will get 10 years or less. However, they still face state charges in June. If they are found guilty by the state, that sentence will probably run concurrent with the feds. If all goes well for those 3, they could be free again in less than a decade. ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  24. @Stefan is correct. As there are very few black-owned movie theaters in the US, black cinema has to compete with Hollywood for screens. Interestingly, AMC Theaters is the largest movie chain in the world. The largest single shareholder in the company is a Chinese conglomerate. ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  25. If Con Ed is anything like my utility company, they will claim "weather" events caused the hike. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜Ž
